Hmm, I've marched around places singing My Favorite Things- the LoTR version

Raindrops in Ent-beards
And whiskers on wizards
Bright Rings of Power
And boiled orc-gizzards
Black-mantled Nazgûl
Who’re owned by their Rings
These are a few of my favorite things.

Hobbits on ponies
And lembas with noodles
Gollum, and Gimli
And oodles and oodles
Of heated discussions
About Balrog wings.
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white armor
Who fight in the masses
Mad old Denethor
Who burns into ashes
Rohirrim warriors
That fight while they sing
These are a few of my favorite things

When the knife bites
When Shelob stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad.

heh... *scurries back to dark corner where all is safe and fiddles with sword*

Tinuviel of Denton 08-19-2003 04:26 PM

ElenCala, I love it.

Yes, to whoever asked on the other thread, I did get a weird look when I told the server 'Namarie.'

Today was the first day of school, and I wrote many LotR things all over those 'getting to know the students' things that the teachers give out. I even did a little Tengwar.

That was my question Weird looks are fun!

I wrote in Tengwar with chalk...all over my friend's driveway... And scraped it into the wood in a little cabin thing, and scratched it in the dirt and... heh heh... The only thing I can write is my name though, so it got kinda boring. It's just "Daisy Daisy Daisy" everywhere. And that's not even my real name; it's my hobbit name. Oh well...

-You're obsessed when you've read the two other threads on this topic and still have things to say on the third...

-When you tape a picture of the Eye of Sauron in the middle of your bullseye and practice your 'Elven' archery.

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-19-2003 05:14 PM

Aaahh, part three!

-I tried the clear rubber bands on the ears thing a while ago. That hurt!

-I can type my entire elvish name faster and more accurately than my entire real name (and the elvish one is mush longer than the real one!).

Oh good! I have a million. Hopefully I'll remember them

you bring your elven cloak in for show and tell (yes, we still have show and tell)

omg!!! your stalking me, because when the thread closed I wrote those exact words on my arm. that's so scary. I swear it was those exact words.

you go by your elvish name (yay! I finally had the chance to do this)

today I was asking my choir teacher something and I meant to say "F" but I accidently said "elf" my friend is still making fun of me for it.

you have a heart attack when this thread is closed for a while.

You are not afraid to crawl around on all fours and hiss and roar for your Gollum impression.
Your friend says your Gollum impression is really good and realistic.
Said friend gets scared when you do your Gollum impression.
You tell everybody you meet about the Gollum-in-the-Simpsons. You even act out scenes for them.
You were giving directions but got distracted by a Two Towers DVD Poster (with Gollum!) and you ended up going the wrong way.

The Elusive Spirit 08-20-2003 07:35 AM

While driving around Germany you sit in the back of the car and recite lines from LOTR
to entertain your self. (My sister got annoyed really quickly and turned on her CD player.)

Heh, I do that all the time! even if it's just walking up to a unusually large rock and shouting "Crebain from Dunland" or something.. Though, the Gollum scenes have to be my favourite.

bwahaha, that happened to me once.. I get weird looks from that though... so fun ^^

How about, you get really upset when someone points to Frodo and calls him "The Lord of The Rings" or in my case "El Señor de los Anillos" and thus end up giving them a lecture on the whole trilogy and the hobbit, add in a little silmarillion, point out that they should have read the books, explain nearly all you know about film production then give them a 20 page test on it...

They'll not be calling frodo "the lord of the rings" anytime soon now! bwahahahahaha

I actually wanted to give my room a Mordor-ish theme, but my mom wouldn't let me. Something about black being hard to paint over. When you are asked what your favorite character in a book was and you say Luthien. The thing was, this was in French class, so I had to attempt to explain her story in that language. Not so easy to do.

When you write fan-fiction in your physics class. And still get the notes.

When you can multitask between writing LotR fan-fiction and schoolwork without skipping a beat.

Hurrah for multi-taskers! Yes, I never seem to have had too much trouble doing other things during science classes. And explaining about Luthien can sometimes be quite difficult.

-I'm sure I've said this before, but I'll say it again: When you go to a sleepover and tell your mildly obssessed friends the Tale of Tinuviel throughout the day and night (it takes a long time to tell!)

-When you notice, to your utter joy, that there is an LOTR bookmark on the wall of your English class. One day when you are lingering there after school, you ask your teacher why it is taped to the wall revealing the orc side, instead of the side with Boromir on it (perhaps you all know of what I speak). You then obtain permission to switch it, and sit through your English class smiling because there's a Boromir on the wall.

-When your school library gets the TTT bookmarks, you stealthily grab one of each when the librarian isn't looking.

Top Ten ways you know you're obsessed with LOtR (just copied and pasted these jokes from a site, in which for me- some are manifested.)

10.You like to role-play scenes from the trilogy. Even in the supermarket..
9. Your ideal date has pointed ears and is six feet tall. And old..
8. You have spent all your savings on Middle-Earth merchandise.
7. You once looked up in the sky and thought you saw a Nazgul fly by.
6. You wonder what Gandalf would have done, when making all your decisions.
5. You think your short neighbour is a hobbit and therefor adore him.
4. Your dog is named Huan, your horse Shadowfax and your first baby Elanor.
3. Your doormat says, "pedo minno a mellon".
2. You can quote almost anything from the book and movies, by heart.
1. You are actually reading all this...

Mariska Greenleaf 08-22-2003 06:28 AM

Well, some of these work for me too.
I'm experiencing lately that most of the things that proove that I'm obsessed have become so natural to me, that I consider them perfectly normal...
Some of these are:
-quoting all the time. And I do mean: all the time, it drives the people around me extremely crazy.
-Seeing ME and Tolkien-related stuff everywhere, even if it is not there
-confusing reality and fiction, now this gets me in real trouble lately, although, and it has been mentioned before, getting weird looks is so cool.

You must consider the fact that I have come to an age that people consider me an adult
Oh well, al least I'm having fun

You sit in school reading about and thinking up signs that you ar obsessed with LotR is not a bad sign either.

Nor is constant reciting of Tolkien whenever seen fit (or not) in front of family emmbers who are expressedly opposed to this behaviour.

To feel a realistic urge to rush into PJ's office sometimes and beat him, tie him up and carry him home to "the holes in Michel's delving".

Every time you see a spider, you start stomping frenetically yelling DIE SHELOB DIE!

(All of them are true for me)

Naz 08-22-2003 10:50 AM

You know you're obsessed when you try to rewrite "All Star"... Hey now, you're a Maia, get your game on, go play/Hey now, you're a Vala, get the show on, go play/And all that is gold does not glitter... ^ ^;;;

I talk like Sam too! I even write "if you take my meaning" on school papers sometimes- when I don't think I'm making much sense. ^ ^;;

Meela 08-22-2003 11:20 AM

A lot of my posts on this forum, where I don't think I've explained myself that well, end in "if you take my meaning".

I haven't used any balrog references, but I say I eat like a hobbit instead of eat like a horse.

Yesterday I used up a load of ink printing out a *gigantic* picture of Denethor I was so pleased with myself. It had never occurred to me before to rotate pictures sideways so I could make them bigger.

I saw another ent in the garden. And I keep seeing the Valar everywhere. Manwe is always peering at me from the sky.

I think Tom Bombadil lives just across the river from me.

Now I'm starting to scare myself.

I have two spiders in my room. I evicted Faramir and Eowyn, because they scared me, but Aragorn and Arwen are safely installed behind the wardrobe. Although I think Arwen may have eaten Aragorn.

Also, to agree with everyone else here, yes, weird looks are *so* cool.

A few weeks ago, I went in to get my Senior pictures taken (you know what I'm talking about, right?) And instead of bringing in school memorabilia (sp?), I brought my Fellowship cloak, and Sting, and Narsil... going for the hobbit look and everything... The place even had a background that looked like the front of a building in Bree! It was fun, because everyone loved my swords, and the photographer even used a smokemachine for the pics.

I got the proofs back last week. So cool, and then when I showed my little cousin, who is seven, he said that I looked like Frodo. Fun fun! My little cousins are so cool! ^^
