Because I was put on the spot, here's something...weird.

Does it play with fire?

Diamond18 06-07-2006 10:14 PM

Arry?

Lhunardawen 06-07-2006 10:15 PM

Nope. :)

At one point it follows the last few questions.

Valier 06-09-2006 10:34 AM

Is it Pyroclastic Lhuna?

Lhunardawen 06-11-2006 05:19 AM

'Fraid not.

And 'fraid it's too nonsensical that only a nonsensical girl like me can make any sense out of it.

A hint: Look at the PTs...and think flame instead of fire. That should do the trick. I hope.

Kath 06-11-2006 05:21 AM

spawn? Mischievous Candle?

Lhunardawen 06-11-2006 05:27 AM

Does this mean you're nonsensical too? :p

The thread is yours, Kath. :)

Kath 06-11-2006 05:38 AM

Maybe I just know the way your mind works :D

Ok, this makes sense to me, but may not to anyone else:

Straight-talking solid.

Mithalwen 06-11-2006 10:26 AM

Straight talking suggests Boromir88's PT "Laconic Loreman"

the guy who be short 06-11-2006 10:36 AM

Or SpM's logical mind, coupled with his Saucepan's holding liquids, which are antagonistic to solids.

Yes, it's a stretch. I'm trying to think like a nut.

Kath 06-11-2006 11:04 AM

:p Thanks guy.

No to both I'm afraid.

Think opposites.

symestreem 06-11-2006 11:55 AM

piosenniel?

Hey, it makes sense to me! ;)

Kath 06-11-2006 01:00 PM

Not pio either.

Diamond18 06-11-2006 01:32 PM

Bethberry.... Cryptic Aura

Kath 06-11-2006 02:04 PM

That's the one Di.

And to anyone who thought solid was a rubbish opposite for aura, you try and come up with one!

Glirdan 06-11-2006 02:39 PM

Hey Kath, try Chi or Karma. True they're not the best, but I think that you're clue might have been easier if you used them. Still, I'll give you props for trying to come up with a word that can be linked to Aura. Good job! :D

Diamond18 06-11-2006 02:45 PM

(Actually, I thought that clue was pretty obvious. :D)

This should also be easy.

Burninating the countryside.

Hmm... well, aura comes from the late Middle English for breeze (and from there, from Latin from Greek), so perhaps 'gale' would have worked. Only that would have been even more obscure! ;)

Or 'vacuum' could have stood in opposition to its meaning of 'atmosphere.' I actually thought it was a good clue; you just started me thinking. And my attempts reinforce your notion of the difficulty of finding an antonym...

Glirdan 06-11-2006 03:06 PM

Um, burrahobbit?

Kitanna has it.

Glirdan: www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail58.htm ;)

Kitanna 06-12-2006 09:39 AM

Ok, been quite a long time since I had to come up with a clue. So it'll be pretty easy:

Look in a puddle to see this Downer

symestreem 06-12-2006 09:42 AM

Not to be egotistical, but is it me?

Kitanna 06-12-2006 09:57 AM

Yeah, it's you symestreem.

symestreem 06-12-2006 10:45 AM

A rattling coffin.

This one might be a little more difficult...

mormegil 06-12-2006 10:52 AM

Hookbill?

Alive without breath

symestreem 06-12-2006 11:03 AM

Nope. The Downer I'm thinking of isn't so well known as Hookbill.

Durelin 06-12-2006 02:19 PM

Orual, as the "Speaker of the Dead?"

A bit far-fetched, maybe... And Orual is pretty well known, though she definitely does not post as often as Hookbill does.

symestreem 06-12-2006 02:42 PM

You have the dead theme right, but it's not Orual...

This member hasn't been around in a long time, though I remember him/her from my earliest days at the 'Downs.

Durelin 06-12-2006 03:39 PM

Hmm...galpsi, then, maybe, as 'The Unquiet Dead?'

Let me tell you, digging for that name was a walk down memory lane. ;)

Though I guess I don't go far back enough to actually remember the name I just guessed...

symestreem 06-12-2006 04:26 PM

You are correct.

And I guess remembering him makes me an old fogey... ;)

Durelin 06-12-2006 04:47 PM

Okey, here we go...

From way back...millennia, even

Valier 06-12-2006 05:16 PM

Is it either...

Waynethegoblin, or even the 1,000th reader?

Durelin 06-12-2006 10:20 PM

Nope.

Much farther back than that...and the 'millennia' part is in fact a hint to the name itself.

symestreem 06-12-2006 10:24 PM

Sounds like someone from before the switchover to VBB-- but that could be a lot of people...

But if it's someone well-known, is it Kate, onewhitetree?

Durelin 06-12-2006 10:33 PM

Nope.

Yes, it's someone from before the switch.

But the 'millennia' part is something altogether different. It's a clue to the name of the person itself, not just how old of a member they are.

mormegil 06-12-2006 10:59 PM

HCIsland for his static 1000 posts.

Durelin 06-13-2006 08:31 AM

Nope.

The 'millennia' part is directly linked to the person's name.

The 'HC' part, at least, is actually kinda close, though...

symestreem 06-13-2006 08:58 AM

Pallando B.C?

Durelin 06-13-2006 10:41 AM

Yep!

I was hoping my clues weren't too stupid...I suppose they were fairly odd, though...

Your thread again, symestreem. :)
