You look at your seven year old sisters yellow golashes and immedietly think she stole Tom's boots.

You think that Sherlock Holmes must be a very tall hobbit since he smokes so much pipe weed.

When your father explains that Sherlock Holmes smokes tobacco, and not pipe weed, you say 'what's tobacco, precious? no tobacco is not real no precious it's not. tricksy author makes us think it is, but we knows he lies!' *gollum* *gollum*

To persuade you to come do something, your friends say 'we can watch lord of the rings if you...'

You've begun to wonder why a man will give his fiancee an evil ring as a token of his love.

You nearly wrote 'tolkien of his love' rather that tokien.

GreyWolf 08-29-2003 07:01 PM

-you find it very funny when you type in .ent instead of .net

Galenfea of Mirkwood. 08-30-2003 10:49 AM

Your teacher once told you that if your next homework had any Elvish on it at all she would write to your parents

You yell 'Noro lim' at your horse when you want him to gallop

You plan to go to the Pony clup christmas fancy dress parade as either a ringwraith or Eowyn

Youjust wrote 'palan' instead of 'plan'

Orominuialwen 08-30-2003 06:06 PM

You have salmon for lunch and you start going "fissssssh" to your brother.
You get very excited when you meet another Tolkien-obsessed person at summer camp who agrees with you about everything and is also a BDer (but I forgot to ask her what her name is here *vows to e-mail said friend*).
Even your LotR-obsessed brother tells you to get off the downs so he can go to the Lego website.
You have to work at the Brat Fest (brat as in bratwurst- it's a kind of sausage, for all you non-Wisconsinites) and it strikes you as something a hobbit would enjoy very much. By the way, where I live is home to the world's largest Brat Fest (yes there is more than one)

School starts in 2 days, so that means I won't have as much time for the Downs .

YAY! *high five*

~ You write "Frodo Lives!" (almost)everywhere.

~ You plan on using your LotR student planner for school instead of the regular one.

~ You yell "Noro lim!" to you bike (I think it worked, too! ).

Heh heh heh... Brat Fest? That makes me smile... We don't have such things here on the east coast. We do have Strawberry Festivals, though...

-You plan to wear your Frodo t-shirt to school the first day to "make a good first impression" *Gotta be known as "the LotR freak!"*

-You get your mom to sing the hobbit drinking song with you in a parking lot

-You are now officially, according to your sister, "The LotR geek, The LotR dork, and The LotR nerd. *I'm hoping to get more soon!*

When you see the movie X-Men, you cry out "Nooo! They can't make Gandalf evil!

On the same note, when you see the tv show Mystery (which has the same guy who plays Merry in it- I've forgotten his name, I think it's Dominick something *scolds self for forgetting*) you forget that his name on the show is Jeffry and that his girlfriend's name is Janet and always call them Merry and Estella instead. Wow, that was a long sentence!

you know you're obsessed when you connect every song you hear to lotr in some way.

*and I'd give up forever to touch you.....*

Orominuialwen 09-01-2003 06:52 PM

Hey Forest Walker, there is a thread about how the Beatles' songs connect to LotR- check it out here. If anyone's interested, please visit this thread, because noone but me has posted on it for a while and I want to save it!!!

You know you're obsessed wit LOTR when you ask your wife/husband if you can have permission to inscribe the words from the one ring on your wedding ring. (or worse if you don't ask at all...)

Yeah, very cool Turambar!

You know you're obsessed with LotR when you are already planning your movie marathon party for once RotK extended edition comes out on DVD.

Oh yes, also: When you tell your friends that you are saving up money to spend about $100 dollars on a necklace, but don't specify what type, and they all just gape at you. And then one of them says, "Oh, it must be something from LotR." And you just grin sheepishly... (It's Arwen's pendant, by the way.)

They make Lotr Lego's? I've never seen them

Elennar Starfire 09-02-2003 05:52 PM

When you go to a mountain man rendezvous (Fort Bridger, in case anyone cares) and buy everything you can find (that I could afford)that looks even slightly elvish.(celtic knot earrings and a necklace)

You call the dirks that your friend's dad has "hobbit swords," because they have a little knife, and a little fork, for eating.

When you make yourself moccasins and get extremely excited when your friend's sister says that they look elvish.

Oh, I saw a VM lookalike there, it scared me for a second.

I got a megabunch of weird looks for something I did that wasn't really LotR related,(think PotC) including a Startled Blink, and many Stares. (YAY! My first Startled Blink!)

Can you tell that I love rendezvous? So much fun! (even if it keeps me from the 'downs for 4 days)

I always notice people's plain gold wedding bands and snicker. My dad has one. Once I took my mom's ring and held it up to the light bulb of our lamp-chandelier thing to see if writing would appear on the band. Needless to say, I was disappointed.

Why thank you, Amarantha! I have to get retainers after this, though. I hope you get your braces off soon! And for all of you who have braces and are wondering what obssessive colors you could use, here are a few suggestions:

For Numenor-lovers: black and silver
For evil people: scarlet and black (Harad colors!)
For hobbits: yellow and green (ooh... I don't know how good that would look )
For Luthien fans: blue and gold
For Rohirrim: bright green and white
For Noldor and last alliance people: dark blue and silver, I think (those colors would go extremely well together)

I think I'll end the list there, but it should give a good general idea. anyone who can think of more, feel free to add to the list!

Why thank you! I've only ever gotten a chance to try Luthien colors, though, and silver and alternating dark and light blue besides that, because I spent literally months with chains on my braces, which my dentist only had in plain old boring gray. So that was kind of annoying.

Quote:

Imrahil as well? You have excellent and exactly the same as mine taste
... you don't like Denethor by any chance do you?
Thanks for the compliment, Meela! I've never been too partial to Denethor, though, I'm sorry to say. Although your obssession with him has made me see him in a whole new light... and I may very well be on the way to liking him. This most excellent quiz even says that my personality is closest to that of Denethor. Every time. I've taken it probably about four times, I've changed my answer, and waited for months before taking it again. I've taken it at different times of day and when I'm in different moods, but every time I answer honestly and don't try to force it to give me a certain answer, I get Denethor. So I guess being like him is close to liking him.

Quote:

Well, you don't have to get turquoise every time, because you can usually change the colors every month or so. So you can have turquoise one month and LOTR colors the next!

EDIT: On the quiz, I just discovered that if I change a particular answer I get Eowyn instead of Denethor. But after reading through both descriptions, I think the Denethor one fits me a lot better. The Eowyn one I think is actually my mom's personality type. So I'm sticking with the Denethor result.
