Is it possible that you missed a "W"? I just can't figure out any other word to put in the -ron- space.

What I think it might be...

Would that the trees might speak on behalf of all things that have roots and punish those that wrong them.

Don't know who said it, to whom, and if you didn't forget a W than I'm off all together.

If I'm wrong, add a "D", please.

Guinevere 08-29-2007 05:35 AM

You're right, Finduilas, I forgot to add that W (shame on me!:o )
and you got the whole quote correct:

"Would that the trees might speak on behalf of all things that have roots and punish those that wrong them!"

Now you've just got to find who said this, and then it's your turn at last! (hint: it's from the Silmarillion!)

Firefoot 08-29-2007 06:38 PM

Well, if no one else knows, I can pitch in - it's Yavanna to Manwe.

Finduilas 08-29-2007 07:52 PM

Ahh.. Was that about Dwarves and Ents?

I haven't read Silm for about two years, so I'm glad you got that.

Guinevere 08-31-2007 08:59 AM

Exactly! :)

I think it's Finduilas' turn because she found out the quote, I hope you agree, Firefoot.

Firefoot 08-31-2007 02:29 PM

Of course. :)

Finduilas 09-01-2007 07:48 PM

Thanks.

Is that to long? I couldn't figure how to break it up, without ruining the quote. If it is too long I will have to find another one.

Firefoot 09-02-2007 05:35 AM

You can make them as long as you like - it's just that they get both easier for us and more complicated for you to fill in all the letters.

TANOSRE

Folwren 09-04-2007 12:15 PM

"Thank you!" said Merry. "But it is a greater honour to dangle at your tail, Gandalf. For one thing, in that position one has a chacee of putting a question a second time. Are we riding far tonight?"

-- The Palantir

Finduilas 09-04-2007 12:56 PM

Indeed yes. Except, I spelled "chance" correctly...:D:p

Your turn, Folwren.

Folwren 09-04-2007 02:26 PM

Hm. I did correct that word's spelling once. I guess I hit e instead of c. *sigh*

Okay, the new quote. This is strictly LotR, right? Well, here goes, then.

Quote:

--/--------/---/-------/---/----,/---/-----/----/-------/---/----/---/--!

Finduilas 09-04-2007 02:33 PM

E's please.

Firefoot 09-04-2007 02:35 PM

I've used quotes from The Hobbit, the Sil, and UT before...

Firefoot 09-04-2007 03:34 PM

Ooh, I love this quote!

Quote:

"By Elbereth and Luthien the Fair," said Frodo with a last effort, lifting up his sword, "you shall have neither the Ring nor me!"
Frodo to the Nazgul.

Folwren 09-04-2007 04:58 PM

Hm. Yes, you're right, of course. I'll bet you only got it because you loved it so much. ;)

Yes, actually, it's one of my favorite quotes, too. That part is fantastic and beautiful, and that line almost makes me shiver with delight.

-- Foley

Firefoot 09-04-2007 05:34 PM

Yes, that and "Elbereth" was quite a hint.

"--/----/---/--/---/----/--/----/---/----,/--/-------/----,/-----/--/--/----/---------./-/----/-/---------/----/--/-/----/------/----/------."

Folwren 09-04-2007 07:03 PM

Aye. I figured the upercase E would have something to do with it.

Let's hope I am as lucky when I guess "E" now, then.
