Lindo's got it. :)
Hmmm
What symbol was on Tuor's battle standard and why did he use it?
The white swan wing, and I'm guessing it's because of the swan's symbollic significance to him, what with them leading him on while he dwelt by the sea. Also, it was the symbol on the armor he found in Nevrast.
That's it!
Thanks muchly.
When Frodo is imprisoned in Cirith Ungol, Sam begins to sing in hopelessness and thereby learns Frodo's location. This event is mirrored very closely by a First Age event. What event is this? |
Fingon singing on the cliffs of Thangorodrim and Maedhros' reply to him as he hung by his wrist.
You've got it!
Oh, and happy 2000 posts (1 post early)! ;) :D |
Ooooh.. 2000 :D
Thanks!
What is the importance of a certain song of Glirhuin's? |
In his song he said the Stone of the Hapless, where Morwen died, would never be defiled by Morgoth nor should it ever be cast into the sea
Bingo!
Túrin had some similarities with Aragorn. I'm thinking of a specific honor both received from the elves. What was it that they received?
Love and Lembas.
Looking for Lembas...more unique than love in this case. Good job and your go.
Sorry for the late reply...
How years after the Battle of Sudden Flame was a Silmaril taken from Angband?
14 years?
Ummm, Lindo . . .
Are you still there?
Hi, sorry...
No I'm not here. I'm working at summer camp (where there is no internet) and only have Saturdays off. Luckily I came home for Father's Day, got on the ole Downs, and saw this. Firefoot is correct: carry on!
Cheers, Lindo.
Who makes a prophesy concerning Eöl, and what was it?
Hmmm . . . lassen Sie mich nachdenken . . .
Did Melian make the prophecy? Was it about the heart of Eöl dwelling in Anglachel not loving Beleg, the hand that wields it?
Why are you answering with a question? So what's wrong with a question? |
No. It directly concerns Eöl. (Don't look too far, either - it's said to his face and he doesn't appear that much in the Sil... ;) )
I forgot about this thread for a bit...
It was Curfin and he said: "...And this counsel I add: return now to your dwelling in the darkness of Nan Elmoth; for my heart warns me that if you now pursue those who love you no more, never will you return thither." |
Aye, that's it!
Of the exiled Noldor, who was the first to enter into Menegroth and why this elf?
Finrod Felagund and because his mother was a Teleri, a kindred of the Sindar
Sorry that's incorrect.
Galadriel then...(trying to think back...)
Angrod, as a messenger of his brother Finrod.
Firefoot you are correct.
:)
Who offers Túrin freedom? |
Perhaps I should consult the book but I believe it's Glaurung
Your memory serves you well. That's correct.
Who is the first recorded elf to meet mortal man?
Finrod Felagund, or, to them, Nóm.
Ya I knew it was easy but it's good to remember sometimes the basics.
Yeah... especially in a book like the Sil (or UT...).
Why was Hísilómë (the Land of Mist) named that way? |
Because of the clouds that Morgoth sent over there, right?
Yes indeed. Your turn.
Which of Gondolin's gates was wrought by Maeglin after the Nirnaeth Anoediad?
Isn't it 'the great gate'? I think it was made of steel..(7th gate?)
