Tarien Ithil 07-17-2003 09:14 AM

Cate Blanchett?

*prays that it would be right*

Samwise 07-17-2003 05:45 PM

No, no one has it right yet...the actor might not be as old as you think he/she is.

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-17-2003 06:41 PM

Okay, sort of young person. Miranda Otto?

Cinderella 07-17-2003 06:44 PM

I say Elijah Wood...

Samwise 07-17-2003 06:46 PM

Nope, and nope, but you're closer. The movie this person is talking about was out in 1985. I know that won't help some people, but...

Cinderella 07-17-2003 06:49 PM

oh oh!!! Sean Astin!!

Samwise 07-17-2003 06:59 PM

You would of course be right. I'm guessing you know the movie he's talking about, too.....

Anyway, QUOTE on!~

Cinderella 07-17-2003 07:03 PM

Quite! since the answer was quite litterally right in front of me! alright then...

"Yes we trained for about three or four weeks before I started but unfortunately I didn't get to do more sword fighting - I wanted to do more."

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-17-2003 07:07 PM

Someone who didn't do much swordfighting... um, Billy Boyd? (You beat me! I had the nagging thought that it would be the famous Mr. Astin, but I didn't act on my thought. Grrr... Oh well.)

Cinderella 07-17-2003 07:12 PM

Sorry not Billy...

I didn't have a clue until I saw the 1985 clue and then I suddenly noticed Samwise's Sig and Avatar!

Eruwen 07-17-2003 07:13 PM

Elijah Wood? HOPES!!!! Cause I've heard this one before!!

Oh, and Samwise, I shoulda known it was Sean. How clueless could I be?

Cinderella 07-17-2003 07:18 PM

Nope, not Elijah

Eruwen 07-17-2003 07:21 PM

Sean Astin? He was upset about swordfighting at some point.

Cinderella 07-17-2003 07:26 PM

Not Sean either!

I knew this one would be tricky , try and think outside the box a bit

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-17-2003 07:45 PM

Think outside the box... um, David Wenham? Didn't he have a sword?

Eruwen 07-17-2003 07:46 PM

Well it's not Viggo cause that's who I thought. And which box? The fellowship box or the hobbit box or what? Well anyway, I'll guess again...is it Orlando? He did mostly archery so I'll go with him though I doubt it's right.

Cinderella 07-17-2003 07:50 PM

No and no

Think outside both boxes

vanwalossien 07-18-2003 05:03 AM

Karl Urban?

Eruwen 07-18-2003 08:14 AM

Bernard Hill?

Cinderella 07-18-2003 10:29 AM

No and no again... a clue perhaps?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-18-2003 10:49 AM

Was it Liv Tyler? Because she has a sword with her during the flight to the ford, but she doesn't ever really use it, and her scenes got cut out of Helm's Deep (thank goodness!)

Cinderella 07-18-2003 10:55 AM

Nope but you're ever so close Luthien

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-18-2003 11:24 AM

Ah! It must be Eowyn!

Cinderella 07-18-2003 07:20 PM

Close enough Luthien, I got your point anyhow. Yes it was the lovely and talented Miranda Otto who wished she could have used her sword skills a bit more

Your go!

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-19-2003 06:33 PM

Oops, I was in a hurry when I wrote that. Sorry I didn't give the actor's name!

Quote:

The Hobbit! The Lorax! The Lorax!
I'm being really evil here and giving you only that short quote to work with.

Cinderella 07-19-2003 06:56 PM

Ok...just a wild random first guess from the peanut gallery...

Mr. Elijah Wood possibly?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-19-2003 07:18 PM

noooooo.....

Cinderella 07-19-2003 07:23 PM

Is it just me Luthien or have you and I completely taken over this game?

How about Ian Holm?

(I'm now v. curious as to what said actor is talking about in this quote...)

Samwise 07-19-2003 09:33 PM

"The Lorax" is a very DEEP book --(well, DEEP compared to some of his other books) written by Theodore Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss).

As to who said the quote....

No clue. Sean Astin?

Eruwen 07-19-2003 09:57 PM

Dom? If I get it right, which I won't continue without me because I'm going to be gone for the next week. Strange quote by the way....strange...

Samwise 07-19-2003 10:01 PM

Ian McKellen?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-20-2003 04:45 PM

Cinderella, I'd pretty much have to agree with you on that one. Although Samwise seems to be frequenting this thread as well. And my failure to reply to everyone's guesses was not an indication of the correctness of the quote, by the way.

Samwise, you got it right with your first guess. I figured I'd put up an obscure Sean Astin quote to see if you would recognize it.

You were wondering what the weird quote was about. It's from an interview on theonering.net, where Mr. Astin speaks about the books he likes to read to his daughter, among other things. My quote is from a part where he starts talking about how he likes the Lorax, "I speak for the trees", etc.

It is now Samwise's turn.

Samwise 07-20-2003 10:13 PM

AGAIN??? Goodness sakes.....
Off I go to find a quote...
Speaking of books Mr. Astin likes to read to his daughter, anyone ever heard him read, "A Bad Case of Stripes? "

Samwise 07-20-2003 10:19 PM

Okay, here we go:
Quote:

"I can't believe most of the opportunities that I've had...I've sort of lived most of those boyhood, childish, backyard dreams..."
Have at it!

vanwalossien 07-21-2003 12:35 PM

Viggo?

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 07-21-2003 12:39 PM

Hmm...opportunities. Elijah Wood? Or, maybe Orlando Bloom?

Samwise 07-21-2003 01:07 PM

Quote:

Or, maybe Orlando Bloom?
Horse maiden's got it! Not too hard, that time.

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 07-21-2003 02:52 PM

Woo hoo! Okay, here I go:
Quote:

...looking like this desperate Rasputin character...

Orofaniel 07-21-2003 03:05 PM

Is it Elijha??

Luthien_ Tinuviel 07-21-2003 06:36 PM

I'm thinking I should know this. Uh... could it be Sean Bean?

Oh, and Samwise: I saw him read "A Bad Case of Stripes". It was cool. Lima beans!
