The best birthday present thus far I have received happend in my last class today when five minutes before the class ended one girl raised her hand, and as I gave her the turn she just rose up and the others followed. And then they all started singing me the "Happy birthday to you!" -song you all probably know.

I mean I haven't been like advertising my birthday but somehow some of them had found it out. It felt really good. Like this is one of the main reasons I love my job, the goodwill and togetherness of people. *is moved, really*

Thanks for you all for the well-wishing too! It has surely heaved my spirits up as well. It has been a dreadful day and a depressive and sad week so everything that feels good is very welcome indeed. Thanks people. On another day or another week it would have been just nice, but today I'm really appreciating this.

I love you all - whatever I may say in a thread or another.

I have friends who were born on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and it was much worse for them. Of course it was a bit frustrating to get presents only once a year, but at least there was something to look forward to then.

It was a good day for me, so far as sweet and simple days go. But starting and ending the day with attempting to write a lab report on animal metabolic rates is definitely not a fun way to celebrate your birthday.

I had a nice birthday dinner in a Chinese restaurant with my family and in the evening I enjoyed watching the DVD of Zeffirellis's "Romeo & Juliet" (1968) together with my sons (good for them to hear some Shakespeare! and better than in the theatre where nowadays all plays are intolerably modernized and spoilt. Unless one can afford to travel to the Globe Theatre in London)
