AHNORSTU

"---us-/--/,"sa--/h-/,"-u-/--r-/-ou/-oo--n-/-or/--/,--/an-/-han--?"

Nerwen 04-16-2008 02:34 AM

E?

Annunfuiniel 04-16-2008 03:28 AM

Oh yes, plenty of E's. :)

AEHNORSTU

"E--use/-e/,"sa--/he/,"-u-/-ere/-ou/-oo--n-/-or/-e/,--/an-/-han-e?"

I'm waiting for some guesses now. :D

But there must be a T !
And I suspect this is Chrisophylax speaking to Farmer Giles, unless this exact quote exists twice...

"Excuse me," said he, "but were you looking for me, by any chance?"

Annunfuiniel 04-17-2008 01:26 PM

Ooooops

:o Oh my, I'm so sorry Guinevere! You're right, of course. And I checked the quote at least 3 times before posting that answer...

You got the quote and the characters right so the thread is yours. :)
But, to be exact, these lines were spoken by Farmer Giles to Chrysophylax. So this quote indeed exists twice, though the wording isn't identical (Chrysophylax' words were: Excuse my asking, but were you looking for me, by any chance?).

Please carry on, Guinevere!

Guinevere 04-17-2008 02:31 PM

I have been wondering if this quote occured in LotR or the Hobbit as well, because for the Minor works we have a separate thread:
Palantir of Fortune Minor works edition
Esty and I would be happy if someone else would join us and revive the thread! :)

Anyhow, here is a new quote :

"---/ ----/ ----/ ---/ ---/ ----/ ---/, --/ ----/ ----/ ----/ --/ ----/, --/ ------/ --/ --/ ---/ ----/. ---/ --/ --/ ---/ --."

Tuor in Gondolin 04-21-2008 08:24 AM

"v"s?

Aganzir 04-21-2008 10:37 AM

E, please.

Samwise 04-21-2008 03:36 PM

Eönwë 04-21-2008 04:17 PM

How about a u (or is it an u)

Samwise 04-21-2008 04:42 PM

Know this 'cause my last name begins with "U"...

;)(it's "a" u.)

"H" as in Hobbit? :D

Guinevere 04-22-2008 03:45 AM

EDIT: I should probably have waited for my answer to be confirmed. I guess I have been over-enthusiastic on this one. Sorry about that, I'll try to behave next time.

Guinevere 05-02-2008 02:23 PM

Well, I guess I should have been quicker to confirm your correct answer; Azaghâl..

Shouldn't be too hard now, I guess. :)

Guinevere 05-04-2008 02:31 PM

Yes, I can see it now :)
Gimli speaking:

"The legs of men will lag on a rough road, while a dwarf goes on, be the burden twice his own weight, master Boromir!"

Azaghâl 05-05-2008 01:45 AM

You're right of course. You may proceed now.

Guinevere 05-06-2008 12:55 PM
