Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-15-2003 09:17 AM

In my position, it makes me think of Christopher Lee. So that's my guess.

Eruwen 08-15-2003 09:58 AM

Good guess, from your position, but no. It's not.

ElenCala Isil 08-15-2003 10:05 AM

hmm *hits self on head with squeaky rubber hammer* perhaps...this is a wild guess... Viggo?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-15-2003 10:07 AM

Well, I'm sure it's one of the older and more famous actors... and it's bugging me, because I know I've heard it before. Argh...

I just had a raandom thought: Could it be Hugo Weaving? Why did I not think of this earlier? I'm pretty sure it was him talking about his experience as "Agent Smith", or something, although I'm not sure how that fits into LOTR... unless it was just a random comment on an interview or something. So anyway...

Evisse the Blue 08-15-2003 02:58 PM

Following on the 'older and more famous actors idea': Ian McKellen? (he's certainly to be taken for an ego-maniac after all he's done )

Eruwen 08-15-2003 03:28 PM

No, no, and no. Wow...is it possible that after all this time I might have found a hard quote? Oooohh.......

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-15-2003 03:41 PM

Bernard Hill?

Eruwen 08-15-2003 03:54 PM

No, not Bernard Hill. Hmm...let me think of a hint...

This male actor was talking about how people start being nice to you just because you become famous, and that he was always having to watch out for them. He said he knew who his real friends were though, so it wouldn't be that difficult of a task.

That's all I can say for now though for it is still early on...

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-15-2003 03:58 PM

No clue... Billy Boyd?

Eruwen 08-15-2003 04:06 PM

Yeah, it wasn't really much of a hint was it? But it's all I could come up with at the moment.

Oh, right, no, it's not Billy.

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-15-2003 04:31 PM

Sean Bean?

ElenCala Isil 08-16-2003 09:29 AM

I seem to remember reading a lot of interviews with Dom where he uses the word egomaniac or egotist and such, so I think I'll say Dom... though I'm probably utterly wrong.

Eruwen 08-16-2003 10:54 AM

On the contrary, ElenCala, you are very much right. The whole quote is...

Quote:

"Unfortunately, I've already become a bit wary. It's a horrible thing to say, but recently I've been conscious of some people who weren't necessarily my friends before getting in touch with me. My way of dealing with that is very tentative. I don't want to say anything to them in case I look like a bighead, but I don't particularly want to go out with them either. In my position, people are going to say you're an egomaniac whatever you do. They assume that with a film comes fame, money and girls, and there is a level of resentment about that."
Your go, ElenCala Isil!

ElenCala Isil 08-16-2003 12:40 PM

Wow, heh, I had a quote from an interview running through my mind that had the word 'egotist' by Dom, so... yeah... anyway...

Hmm, this is probably going to be extraordinarily short-lived... but I'll give it a shot anywho..

Quote:

they have to spend hours blow-drying their hair and plaiting it.

Samwise 08-16-2003 04:31 PM

Uh....Cate Blanchett?

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 08-16-2003 04:48 PM

Hmm. Sounds like the Elves are being talked about, so I'm going to guess Liv Tyler. And I am so sorry that I didn't reply to my quote a couple pages back, but I was at camp.

Eruwen 08-16-2003 05:03 PM

Quote:

and plaiting it.
What does this mean anyway?

Well, this guess probably is not worth anything because I think one of the previous guesses has it, so I'm going to say John Rhys-Davies.

ElenCala Isil 08-16-2003 05:48 PM

Nope, sorry, not Cate, Liv or John.

Oh, and plaiting it is like braiding it...

Samwise 08-16-2003 07:55 PM

That's why I guessed who I guessed because that's not exactly an American term.

So...Miranda Otto?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-16-2003 08:04 PM

Well, the only other non-American actor with braided hair in the movie that I can think of right now is Orlando Bloom, so that's my guess.

ElenCala Isil 08-16-2003 08:07 PM

hmm, nope, not Miranda or Orlando...
anyone need a hint?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-16-2003 08:45 PM

A hint would definately be nice.

ElenCala Isil 08-16-2003 09:22 PM

Ok
This actor's character first appears in FoTR

Eruwen 08-16-2003 09:26 PM

Hugo Weaving? He has braided hair in parts of the movie.

ElenCala Isil 08-16-2003 09:57 PM

Nope, not Hugo.

Eruwen 08-17-2003 07:30 AM

Ok then, who else has braided hair? Hmmm...possibly the guy who plays Haldir? I can't remember his name right now.

ElenCala Isil 08-17-2003 09:49 AM

His name is Craig Parker... and that is correct!!!
The entire quote is:
Quote:

Like a fish, but they don't like it because afterwards they have to spend hours blow-drying their hair and plaiting it."
which referred to elves ability to swim.

Find yourself a quote

Eruwen 08-17-2003 03:45 PM

Hehehe... ...You guys are gonna love me after this next one. I'm enjoying this because I just spent half an hour looking for this quote. I'm not sure how long this one will last, but hey, it'll be fun. The quote is kinda long, but it wouldn't matter if I took anything out or not anyway because it doesn't give away who the person is. Well, here's the quote...

Quote:

"We were rehearsing this scene and they wanted it to be 5 seconds long and I had to kill 5 orcs or something. Oh my God, so we tried to speed it up and I just got this guy in the thigh with the tip of my sword and he fell over in pain. He said 'It's fine, it's fine, man, it's fine.' So we did it again and I got him again..."
Hehehe Go at it everyone!!!!

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-17-2003 03:52 PM

Karl Urban?

Eruwen 08-17-2003 03:57 PM

Nope. Keep trying!

Evisse the Blue 08-17-2003 04:09 PM

Viggo?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 08-17-2003 04:40 PM

Sean Bean?

Eruwen 08-17-2003 09:04 PM

No, and no. Oooh, maybe this will take a long time. I hope not too long though because I'm leaving Wednesday for camp and I won't be back until Saturday. I hope we'll have it before then.

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 08-17-2003 09:10 PM

I'm thinking maybe Bernard Hill.

Eruwen 08-17-2003 09:14 PM

No again. Aw, this won't be as fun as I thought cause I don't have as much time as I wish I had. Ok, I'll give a clue or two...just cause I have a limited number of days though.

Clue #1:

This MALE character has never been used before, for all I know of, in the history of the Actor's Quotes thread...1 or 2. Hehehe. Doesn't that make you feel good?

Evisse the Blue 08-18-2003 10:36 AM

Hey - I got it! Browsing through onering.net pays off again! It's Harry Sinclair, aka Isildur. Great one!

Eruwen 08-18-2003 02:15 PM

You know, I eventually hoped that someone would end up doing that, but I didn't know it would be so soon! It took me forever to find a quote by him. Anyway, good job, Evisse. Your go!

Evisse the Blue 08-18-2003 07:01 PM

I have no idea if this had been done before - if it has, well, you'll most likely get it very soon. There it is:
Quote:

We were on the phone a lot...wondering when a helicopter was going to come and take us out.

The Saucepan Man 08-18-2003 07:35 PM

Just to clear up a bit of confusion that occured a while back on this thread, the same rules apply in the Quotable Quotes Forum as apply in the Quiz Room (see Quiz Room Rules). So, you need to wait 10 days without a new question or confirmation to an answer before you can ask a new question. If you want to move the game on, then the best thing to do is to PM the question-setter. If that doesn't work, then I'm afraid that you just have to wait until the 10 days are up.

Thanks for the tip, Mr. Saucepan.

As to the question, I'm going to guess Sean Astin.
