You know what, sometimes I wonder whether you actually know the whole blimmin' book by heart...
Well done, Zil. Take it away!

I was thinking the same of you, since I'd thought the last one I put up would be more of a poser. ;)

My clue was "Not one... to the North" - I just knew this had to be something to do with Orcs. Finding the precise quote took some rummaging - but this has always been one of the more memorable scenes for me. I mean, imagine the sheer cheek of the guy, standing there on a battlement about to be drowned in the black flood and threatening a host of enemies who outnumber him and his friends a hundred to one or more that "Not one of you will be spared"! And what's more, he's proven right! It's just great.

However, I digress. Rs, please.

I'm re-reading the books and I've just finished that part. It is quite a sharp moment.

Pitchwife 01-10-2010 03:32 PM

Eönwë 01-10-2010 03:34 PM

An "e", please.

edit: x-ed x2 - whoa.

Inziladun 01-10-2010 05:16 PM

ASK REN (who knows, maybe a Trainspotting reference )

"S - - e/ - - - - -/ - - - n k/ - - - s/ - e a -/ - e a r - -/ - - - - - -/! A -/ - e a s -/ - e/
- a - e/ - - - e n/ - - r/ k - n - - - -/ - - r/ - -."

Loslote 01-10-2010 05:26 PM

Well, then, we must have a T so as to complete the order.

Guinevere 01-10-2010 05:31 PM

How about O?

Pitchwife 01-10-2010 06:06 PM

And Ls, if you please!

(If it's any consolation to you, you've got me completely groping in the dark this time!)

Inziladun 01-10-2010 09:22 PM

Some good choices.

SNORT LEAK

"S o - e/ - o - l -/ t - - n k/ t - - s/ - e a -/ - e a r l -/ - o - - - t/! A t/ l e a s t/ - e/

Guinevere 01-11-2010 10:50 AM

With those letter choices, you should find it much easier. ;)

SNORT LEAK HD (In High Definition)

"S o - e/ - o - l d/ t h - n k/ t h - s/ h e a d/ d e a r l -/ - o - - h t/! A t/ l e a s t/ - e/
h a - e/ - - - e n/ o - r/ k - n - d o -/ - o r/ - t."

Pitchwife 01-11-2010 03:51 PM

High Definition does indeed give a much clearer picture.

"Some would think this head dearly bought! At least we have given our kingdom for it." - Thráin to Thorin after the battle of Azanulbizar (referring to Azog's head stuck on a pole).

Inziladun 01-11-2010 05:52 PM

That's it, of course.

Once again, Pitch, nicely done.

Pitchwife 01-12-2010 02:25 PM

Thanks!:)

Shall we try a really long one this time? It's a great piece of dialogue, so I'm loth to cut it short; and who knows, more hits per letter may actually make it easier.
Here goes:

" - - - / - - - / - - - / - - / - - - / - - - - - / - - - - / - - - - - - / - - - - - / - - - / - - - - - / - - / - - - / - - - - - - - - / - - / - - - - - - /, " / - - / - - - - / . / " - / - - - / - - - - - - / - - / - - - - /, / - - - / - - / - - - - / - - - - / - - - - - - - - /, / - - - - - - - / - - / - - - /, / - - - - / - - - - / - - / - - - - - - - /, / - - - / - / - - - - - - - / - - - / - - - - - - - - - / - - - / - - - - - / - - - - / - - / - - - - / ."

Inziladun 01-12-2010 02:53 PM

Let's start with O, please.

And aboundingly abundant admiration about an amazing ability!

We wants los of "s"sssssss's!

Guinevere 01-13-2010 03:27 PM

Hm, I can see large parts, but have no idea where this quote comes from!
perhaps some N's would help?

Edit:http://www.myrias.de/Templates/Elrond/images/idea.gif I had an idea after all:

"You are one of the fools that spring would not mourn if you perished in winter," he said. "I had spoken my word, and so must have returned, willing or not, with sack or without. Let a lawless and faithless man think what he will!"

Mîm to Ulrad in the Narn i Hîn Húrin.

Pitchwife 01-14-2010 09:09 AM

Congratulions, Guinevere! Yes, it's my pet Petty-dwarf who said that. Well done! Your turn!

Guinevere 01-14-2010 02:53 PM
