I am from Olympia Washington, which is one hour south of Seattle. We are the capital of the state (yes, Olympia is the Capital of Washington State, NOT Seattle!) it is a good place to live, though it is kind of rainy sometimes, and all we are famous for is coffee and computers.

I'm from the Twin Cities (Which are Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota.) It's very nice and peaceful here. Come and visit the TCs sometime....
|
I'm from the state of Michigan in the USA. Can't tell you where, though! I've lived here my whole life, and have only traveled to Ohio and Canada. Exciting, huh?
I might be going to Pennsylvania and Ohio this summer for Medieval/Renaissance Faires, as I'm part of a re-enactment and swordfighting group called The Steel Ravens. We were going to go to Virginia but that's just too far away with everything else we're doing this summer... Toodles! ~TolkienGurl the Hungry Hobbit |
I used to live in London! But no longer, I moved north-east to the land of the south folk (much more interesting name than Suffolk don't you think?)
|
London. It's a bit depressing to hear of all these wonderful places when you live in the suburbs and commute into town each day on a manifestly sub-standard public transport system.
Still, I suppose the grass is always greener ... Balin999, I shall be visiting your country next week. I hope the snow's good. |
I'm in Fredericksburg, Virginia. (USA) I love it here. Trees, trees trees and hills and mountains AND seasons and snow and....
I'm happy because I grew up in Florida. Stupid palms, flat land, no seasons, no snow . And it smells! I didn't realize it till I left and came back for a visit. I guess it can't be helped with all that swamp land. And no I didn't go to the beach everyday. [ February 07, 2003: Message edited by: hobbitlass ] |
hi everyone. im from Kent in England. i live in a town called Chatham, and the girls from our town are known as 'Chavs'.
a Chav must include the following: - massive fake gold earrings (usually hoops with a ball on them - no hairbrsuh (they just throw up their hair and look a state, but they think they look good - they must at least once go into mcdonalds or burger king and ask for a cheese burger, but without the cheese - have a clown necklace (a moveable gold clown usually, although may strtch to a doll) - lastly, they must wear as much make up as humanly possible (but they still look ugly) my school is full of these people, and everywhere you go in chatham, you are garenteed to see one! |
I live in North West Indiana USA. But I was born in Alkmaar in the Netherlands.
|
Saucepan Man, I guess you're going to Tyrol, right?
Or even to Carinthia? That's where I live |
Balin999, we're going to Zell am Zee. Not sure which region it's in, although I know it's in the Alps.
|
Hey Vardamar guess what?
I live in Alkmaar in the Netherlands! It's nice to see another Alkmaarder here. |
I'm from South Louisiana--I'm a Cajun. I don't see anyone else from Louisiana. I don't know any other LOTR fans in my area. Except my brother, but he's mainly into Everquest. I love where I live anyway. I just wish I weren't in such a minority.

Im just a little Swedish Viking

Gosh, we are all from so many places!
Can I just say the internet is amazing. I am just from little old Olympia Washington USA, and I am communicating with people from Europe, Australia, all these places, this is very cool |
I myself am from Renton Washington which is fairly close to Seattle. I'm pretty new to the Barrow Downs so I don't know to many people, but it's awesome to see where everyone is from!
|
Rochelle, Have you checked out the "Seattle Barrow-Downs convention" thread? We're planning on meeting next month.
|
Saucepan, that's in Salzburg. You'll have a lot of traffic jams. I had to travel for two horus on the road yesterday, and all the time they were saying how many traffic jams there were in Salzburg. Good Luck and have fun there!

To all of you people from the Netherlands:
What do men from the Netherlands like? P.S. I was born in Kiev, lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for eight years, and now spend my time being bored at Duke University, which, for the ignorant, is located in Durham, North Carolina, truly a marvel of cosmopolitan development and marvelous city culture. *snort* [ February 09, 2003: Message edited by: Lush ] |
I live in the state of Maine in the USA. Not much happens here, lol. I don't know anyone who likes LotR here, most of the people at school think the movies were "gay" and won't read the books. Besides that, there isn't anything to do. When I graduate from high school, I plan to go to college far, far away.
|
I'm from Illinois near Chicago. Is anyone else from IL??
|
Tigerlily Gamgee is from Illinois, she is from Chicago. There is also a club of people from the midwest a couple threads down.
|
Lush, surely North Carolina isn't that bad. By the way, I'm going to Kiev this summer - any tips?
Oh, and to stay on topic: Currently I am in College Station, Texas (WHOOP!), not so very far from Houston. (How would Durham compare to College Station? me wonders.) |

Well, I'm originally from Walla Walla Washington. Now I'm from Port Angeles Washington. I miss Walla Walla. Right next to the Blue mountains, excellent hunting ground!

I'm a native Illinoisian, born in Chicago, and still live fairly close to there, though I've traveled a bit in the meantime, mostly in Russia. Trying to get back to Eastern Europe this summer... oh, how I envy you, Lush .
|
Hi everybody, one from Finland here! Like this country quite a bit, specially summer times. In the forests around my home (yah, I'm from the countryside) you can sense the spirit of Shire - peace and the thing called easy-living... Too bad I have to live in the city for my studies at the moment.
About 5 years ago I spent some time in Paris and fell in love so perhaps I'll meet you there one day Manardariel? |
I'm from the wonderfully boring state of Alabama in the U.S.A. I mean, isn't Alabama the most boring state? There's nothing to do here! I wish I lived in Europe.

Whoo hoo! Ok, unlike Lady Iverin, I find Alabama pretty interesting but the city where we live incredibly boring. I was born in Ohio though and my mom is from Thailand (i went to visit my family there for the first time! wonderful experiance) |
Wow, there are shure living a lot of ladies in Alabama.

Ok, I'm sure you've heard enough of complaining from this Idahoan. Carry on. |
Why do all you Idahoians hate Idaho? I have visited there many times and I have always thought of it being a really great state. Where do you live? do you live in the south or the north, because I prefer the north to the south. It is very beautiful state. I enjoy Boise (yes, it is kind of small), Sun Valley, and Court d'Alene (sorry I think I am spelling that wrong), is it just because I am a tourist?
I just wanted to add, that it is not like I am Miss Outdoorsperson or anything. I don't ski, hike, mountain bike, boat, or anything like that. It is just that I live in Washington State, and we motorhome, so to get basically anywhere else in the entire United States we have to go through Idaho, and I have always had a fondness for it. I just never knew that the natives dispised it so much, but I don't really live in a small town, or a place with few people, so maybe I just don't understand. [ February 17, 2003: Message edited by: Gorwingel ] |
It's probably because you're a tourist. Yes, Idaho's a great place for outdoor activities, but after a while it can get old (I've lived in Idaho my entire life). There is no real entertainment in Boise for teens during winter except for the movie theater. Also, there isn't much opportunity in Idaho for someone looking for a job. I believe Idaho has one of the worst economies in the US.
But I suppose it's a great place to visit during summer if you like the outdoors. |
