Oh no, most fearful of stalkers, the dark M is now hovering behind by back! What is he after? He will haunt my threads, and fill them with little black Ms, oh, heaven, oh deary deary me!

Morsul the Dark 08-18-2004 12:48 AM

no you make great posts funny in mirth and very insightful when serious good job

Mithalwen 08-18-2004 01:00 PM

I can't resist *sings* ....black, his gloves of finest mole, black his cod-piece made of metal, his horse is blacker than a coal, his pot is blacker than his kettle....

"There are two things you should know about the wise woman......

I will weak my rewengay.....

Nathaniel sits on a spike..

All I had to do was kill the one that looked like a cow"

Sorry ... you may have to shoot me..... before I go into full "Queenie" mode

Mithalwen 08-19-2004 01:35 PM

I wonder if there are any "stalking rondes" ..... you know A stalks B who stalks C ans so on til we find someone who stalks A..... :p

Morsul the Dark 08-19-2004 03:13 PM

well I kind of have one

Esga-A
Me-B

A stlks B while B stalks A we stalk each other :p

Esgallhugwen 08-19-2004 03:22 PM

We do? *looks around nervously* yes, yes we do don't we? *Grins evilly*

Morsul the Dark 08-19-2004 03:41 PM

you leave the evil grins to me http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/cwm/cwm/evil2.gif

If Eomer stalks anyone Im sure you could get a reallyy big round since there are so many people that stalk him

Esgallhugwen 08-19-2004 04:39 PM

I think you mean ronde Morsul and that evil grin is so cute *pinches its cheeks*
That would be very extensive wouldn't it?

Eomer of the Rohirrim 08-20-2004 08:52 AM

You know, I don't think I stalk anyone. Strange huh?

Mithalwen 08-20-2004 09:12 AM

Well La ronde is French for round / circle ..... usually in the context of romantic relationships where everyone inconveniently loves someone other than the person who loves them.... I can remember the plot of "Andromaque" ten year on because that particular chain was so imprinted on my brain "Orestes loves Hermione who loves Phyrrus who loves Andromache who loves Hector who is dead... (and so can't complete the circle..untidy swine) ...they all ended up killing each other - happy little tale..

That isn't so much a circle as a mutual admiration society....

Encaitare 09-03-2004 09:49 AM

Ah, this is an amusing thread... a wee bit creepy, but amusing nonetheless. ;)

I must admit I don't really stalk. I occasionally check to see who's on, or I'll check someone's profile to see what threads they've started or what they're doing... well, I guess that is somewhat stalker-ish! But I don't do it all the time... ::glances around suspiciously::

mark12_30 09-03-2004 09:51 AM

I stalk the spiders.

The Saucepan Man 09-03-2004 10:39 AM

Spmfc?

Eeek! Sleepy Ranger's new signature makes me feel somewhat stalked! :D

Seriously, I am honoured, Sleepy, albeit slightly mystified as to what I have done to deserve the honour (particularly as I was absent from the Downs throughout much of the last month).

HerenIstarion 09-30-2004 06:45 AM

I suppose? ;)

SpM, I reckon that must be thanks to mostly attractive looks of yours, as seen in your new avatar :D. Or maybe it is your past overtaking you!

Not to stray off topic, let me confess I too do stalk you at times. Confiteor

Lhunardawen 10-01-2004 09:17 PM

I'll be a bit off topic here and say that I missed your old avatar, Sauce. :(

And to go back on topic, I'll admit that I stalk...I stalk...*sigh*

I can't say it.

Elennar Starfire 10-02-2004 07:38 PM

It's strange to see Saucy with an avatar that doesn't have a saucepan on it's head...

Boromir88 10-25-2004 05:28 PM

For me it's not really any one, or specific number of people. There's more of a randomness too it, can't explain it, other then to say "boy let's see who I should stalk today." I'll just see how many people are viewing the Books Forum, Novices and Newcomers...etc, then see who is viewing it and, what thread they are viewing, so it has this randomness to it.

ohtatyaro 01-31-2005 08:02 AM

Today I sank to the bottom ;)

I've spent much of my day here (the longest period ever online!), and I did nothing but stalking :D I came upon several threads, (I mean, that interested me, I came upon lot of threads in general)

I proclaim online stalking good thing! :D

Assasin 02-01-2005 03:52 PM

I've stalked a few people here and there. I usually only stalk people with funny posts.

drigel 02-04-2005 09:02 AM

thanks HI for giving me another good reason to spend even more time here! I havent tried my hand at the RP stuff here - me scared... I agree its fun to read BDr's profiles. So many young'ns eeeek

just to add a complimentary note though: i have been checking out the photo thread of some BDr's and I must say that Tolkien geeks have come a long way! OMG in my day there was nothing but red eyed pimply faced dorks hovering around the D&D table. fun but lonely....

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 02-04-2005 03:48 PM

Another good old thread.

Helen wasn't the original incarnation of this thread yours? You've always been the number one stalker on the Downs, methinks. Although after this list hits, I may be number 2. *blush*

I will admit to stalking davem, Saucy, littlemanpoet and Fordim through the Books forum. I also look out for Lhunardawen.

In the Quiz room I follow Firefoot, Nilpaurion, and Lindolirian.

In the RPGs I stalk players in my game-to-be mercilessly: littlemanpoet, alaklondewen, Regin Hardhammer, Meneltarmacil, Himaran, Nilpaurion - again!, and (my startlingly talented younger brother) TomBrady12. Also Child and Pio. ;)

In Mirth I look up and take notice if Saucy, Boromir88 or Eomer of the Rohirrim have been talking, and of course if BW pipes up. He's interesting even when closing rogue threads.

And the man to watch in the Barrow-Downs is the immortal HerenIstarion himself.

And when I'm bored or looking for good old threads... I also stalk the spiders.

*gasps* I'm a stalkaholic!

On the other hand, we have happy cases too:

Significant m'ral issues followin', o'course. Namely: One should distinguish one's ends from one's means.

Or, to be more prolix - if stalkling provides nourishment for the intellectual and emotional hunger, it is a blessing, not a curse. Though patalogies may be there too, of course - sad cases being gluttons soothing their desire of sneaking upon their neighbour just for the look of the thing.

Kuruharan 02-04-2005 09:47 PM

Your bill, milord!

I stalk you too. :p

The list was just getting too long, so I neglected to mention it. Nice new Avatar, btw.

Nimrodel_9 02-15-2005 06:13 PM

I admit that whenever I see that Eomer has posted somewhere, I go read it. Yeah, I kinda stalk Eomer. Who dosen't? :D ;)

I do sometimes stalk The Barrow-Wight himself, going so far as to look up 'threads started by The Barrow-Wight'. Let me share with you my discoveries:

MorrisE (Transition)
Yeah, I got that from a The Smiths song, but I think it’s plagiarized from something else.

ChatGirl1987 (chat)
I love The Smiths. My favorite song is “Girl Afraid”.

Squatter of Amon Rûdh (Attempt to save topic)
Signatures say a lot about the poster, especially when they contain references drawn from both Middle-earth and the real world. My favorite is the Barrow-Wight’s. Concise and neat. Says a lot about the man…uh, wight.

Chatman2000 (topic lost)
“Girl Afraid” is OK, but “Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others” is louder than da bombs, man!

(see the rest here)

I do stalk Mr. Wight for his posts are oft educational and now and again humorous. Besides, eating one's vitamin-rich greens and following one's Admin's advice will do one good, I believe ;)

cheers

Eomer of the Rohirrim 02-17-2005 10:49 AM

Well, that's a shame for you guys. If you're not stalking me then you're not getting the full Barrowdowning experience.

Thanks Nim, I feel desired now. :D More so.

mark12_30 02-17-2005 11:39 AM

I'd stalk the elusive Mister Underhill if I could catch the bloke while he's logged on...

And what's with the "replying to thread" or "viewing thread"? Which thread?

Feanor of the Peredhil 02-17-2005 11:50 AM

I've noticed that too, mark. How do they expect us to stalk them, when they won't let us know where they are? It lowers me to waiting in the main forum and refreshing until a new post shows up...

Eomer of the Rohirrim 02-17-2005 02:39 PM

Isn't that brilliant fun? Just watching the screen until something new happens. Especially if you make a provocative post; just sit back and take bets on who's going to reply first.

Not really stalking one person; more keeping your eyes on everyone.

Exactly, Eomer. I don't always stalk people (who am I kidding? I follow around the phantom, Encaitare, littlemanpoet, Bethberry, Eomer and Biff, and if I see Fordim creating a thread, I head straight there), but I do tend to stalk threads. Sometimes my own threads, but most often threads that somebody else started, but I really like. Or if I'm waiting for an answer. Right now I've been diligently stalking the screen name quiz. But I've also been keeping close tabs on Crazy Captions, How Do You Imagine Other Barrowdowners?, and The White Horse Inn, Act III.

Fea

Encaitare 02-17-2005 04:33 PM

You stalk me, Fea? Wow, I feel so loved!

I always check out threads that Child starts because they're sure to be intriguing. And when I see BW has posted somewhere my first thought is "another one bites the dust"... but it's not always so. I'm always curious, though...

Eomer of the Rohirrim 02-18-2005 09:59 AM

Enca, I do that too! Whenever I see that the Wight has posted I rub my hands in glee at the thought of another Downer being reprimanded.

It's sick, I know...

Feanor of the Peredhil 02-18-2005 01:10 PM

Thoughts of the wrath of The Barrow-wight keep me on the edge of my seat. It's a thrill I never care to pass up. :D

Ahh, another victim...errr, uh, customer...I mean, client!!!

The counselors Stalkaholics Anonymous (who, by the way, always barge in with advice and suggestions without being asked, but still loudly demand payment) heartily agree that lurking about in the shadows, hoping to watch somebody else get pummeled is not a healthy way to spend one's time. It is a far more efficient to create mischief on one's own, that way one can experience the pummeling first hand.

(psst...does anybody else check the member list to see if Squatter has been online or posted anything recently?)

Our bill is in the mail.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 02-18-2005 04:59 PM

A couple of days ago I noticed that Squatter was online and just about choked on my sandwich in excitement.

I also tend to notice when Saucepan Man, Fea, Mithalwen, Lalwende and Sophia among others are on because that usually means that there's a Hot Thread active somewhere...

And I know I'm paranoid Kuru; it doesn't mean that they're not out to get me. ;)

Seriously though, I have been stalking a hell of a lot more than I used to. You are all very bad influences on me.
