HINT: He was left-handed.

Fingolfin II 03-05-2004 04:32 AM

Maedhros?

Fingolfin II 03-05-2004 07:47 PM

Oops! I broke the rules, sorry guys, forgot to read them stupid me. *Hits self over head*.

The Perky Ent 03-25-2004 07:58 PM

10 Day Rule!

The days have gone donw in the west. I'm reviving this thread. Please read the rules before you post! There will be 5 Questions!

Question 1

I thought i would be the first, but i was hit with a sad blow when i heard the truth. Who am i?

Firefoot 03-25-2004 08:09 PM

Fëanor?

The Perky Ent 03-25-2004 08:19 PM

But of course!

Firefoot I

Question 2

My brother's were in the power of kings, yet my brother's left them for others. Who (what) am I?

(what) is foreshadowing!

Fingolfin II 04-02-2004 05:13 AM

The Easterlings?

Fingolfin II 04-04-2004 10:51 PM

Hey Perky, any confirmation? I think I'm probably wrong because of the second clue [(what) is foreshadowing!], but it'd be nice too know :).

Fingolfin II 06-25-2004 06:30 PM

Time to resurrect this thread...

I'll be asking 5 questions, of different types (i.e. riddles, straight questions, etc.). Anyone can answer the first four questions, but only those with points can answer the last one. The one who answers the last question correctly gets to set the next set of questions if they can correctly guess the theme.

I've been babbling for long enough; here's the first question-

1. Please tell me who is an Elven lore reteller of nice demeanour.

Gil-Galad 06-28-2004 01:12 PM

Elrond?

NightKnight 06-28-2004 04:45 PM

Rumil the Loremaster?

Fingolfin II 06-28-2004 10:47 PM

Gil-galad- 1

The first letter in each word of that sentence spelt 'Elrond' :).

2. Less loved than the Faithful Jewel; read into the minds of Men yet did not scorn them as fools.

NightKnight 06-29-2004 05:26 AM

Faramir?

Fingolfin II 06-29-2004 06:54 PM

Gil-galad- 1
NightKnight- 1

3.
He was the most reluctant to leave,
To no home would he cleave.
Through water and fire
He befriended the halflings of the Shire.
Seemingly the weakest,
He united all the meekest,
And was the last to come,
Sent by the mightiest under the One.

Gil-Galad 06-29-2004 06:58 PM

good ol' Gandalf?

Fingolfin II 06-29-2004 10:30 PM

Gil-galad- 2
NightKnight- 1

4. A cat, a rabbit, an aardvark, an iguana, falcon, beaver, a Thorondor.

The order of these is correct, yet they should be taller. Arrange these properly, and use the letters to find the name of a famous traveller.

Good luck ;).

Gil-Galad 06-30-2004 07:48 AM

A cat, a rabbit, an aardvark, an iguana, falcon, beaver, a Thorondor.

charagoth? that wolf who ate the silmaril? can't spell sorry

Fingolfin II 06-30-2004 11:58 PM

Nope- arrange them in a suitable order, and see what's spelt. The animals have no relation to each other, it's the letters.

Fingolfin II 07-05-2004 03:58 AM

No one? I'll give you a major hint, just look below:

AZFXDOSLMYNPQARTS
RRFGSEDRTVUIFQMBNI
ASRXSDMNYUIOPEQTLI
NSDGGVBORDMSDMFTA
ASXQZERELRONSAOSDI
ASLDSESZAZCYAEIORS
WATUCISCCOOPNDSSF
FARNKISHZEITMAXERVI
HEYAMSUPGANDASTARI

Just arrange the hints in an appropriate manner and solve!

Gil-Galad 07-05-2004 09:28 AM

Odorf? i mean Frodo...heh

Fingolfin II 07-05-2004 05:02 PM

No, no, no; that was just a hint of how to arrange the clues. I put Frodo in there as an example- that find-a-word isn't the one which the answer is hidden in. The clues (i.e. an aardvark, etc.) form the find-a-word, and then you have to find this famous traveller. Please show me how you got the answer also when you get it :).

wilwarin538 07-06-2004 01:18 PM

I got it!!!! Its ARAGORN
I m not the best at bolding so its lopsided but I think you know what I mean

A A A A F B A
C R N N A E T
A A A I L A H
T B A G C V O
I R U O E R
T D A N R O
V N N
A A D

Gil-Galad 07-06-2004 02:57 PM

Fingolfin II 07-06-2004 07:22 PM

Gil-galad- 2
NightKnight- 1
wilwarin538- 1

Last question- only those with points may answer!

5. He gave up the 'prize' willingly, but not without persuasion.

wilwarin538 07-07-2004 09:47 AM

I dont know about you guys but I could use a hint.

Gil-Galad 07-07-2004 02:34 PM

Thingol gave Beren the hand of Luthien only if he could have a Silmaril?

NightKnight 07-08-2004 10:41 AM

Bilbo gave Frodo the "prize" of the riddle contest, the Ring, but only after Gandalf persuaded him.

Fingolfin II 07-08-2004 07:46 PM

Gil-galad- 2
NightKnight- 2
wilwarin538- 1

Now, NightKnight, can you tell me the common thread between these characters?

NightKnight 07-14-2004 07:01 AM

Hmm... Elrond, Faramir, Gandalf, Aragorn and Bilbo. They all withstood the temptation of the Ring/let it go?

Fingolfin II 07-15-2004 11:42 PM

Well I'm back from camp now, and while I was thinking that they were all loremasters, your answer is certainly correct so you're up.

NightKnight 07-16-2004 04:44 AM

Here we go: 5 questions, only those with points can answer the last one.

1. I kept the oath, and slew the wolf.

Fingolfin II 07-16-2004 06:06 AM

Finrod Felagund?

NightKnight 07-16-2004 11:15 AM

Yep.

Fingolfin - 1

2. The unaided Hornblower

Firefoot 07-16-2004 11:18 AM

Tobias Hornblower, the Hobbit who found pipeweed.

NightKnight 07-16-2004 11:20 AM

Nope. :smokin:

Fingolfin II 07-16-2004 08:36 PM

Ted Sandyman?

The Perky Ent 07-16-2004 09:06 PM

Boromir? He blew the Horn of Gondor, and no one helped him when he defended Merry and Pippin?

NightKnight 07-17-2004 04:05 AM

Perfect, Perks. :)

Fingolfin - 1
Perks - 1

3. Add -ng to get happyness, sorrow or love.

Urwen 04-07-2010 07:54 AM

My guess:
happiness,sorrow,love=feeling=feeli+ng
feeli=Fili

And my answer is Fili.
