Or do you mean all three of them? Sorry. . Ecthelion slew and was slain by Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs, and GLorfindel fell in the passes of the Echoriath in combat with a Balrog. In fact everyone who ever slew a Balrog, Maia or Elda, died themselves in the act.

At the time you asked that, Durelin, almost half; but not now. I seem to be suffering a spasm of Quiz Room avoidance at the moment (which I believe is passing as we speak).

Alright, sorry for the delay; a rune appears in my sig. Taking a logical and INFORMED guess, why is it in my sig at all, and what alphabet does it come from?

Runes in Sigs

As there are only two scripts named by Tolkien, the Tengwar and the Cirth, (and your rune is clearly not Tengwar,) it is the Certhas Daeron that should hold correct as for the alphabet. On further inspection it can be found (esp. in App E of LotR) that that rune represents the sound 'gw' and because you are Gwaihir, it is obvious why the first distinct 'sound' in your name should appear in your sig PS I hope that is informed enough to meet your demand

From this citation, Ugluk can be seen as a coward from two reasons. What are they?

In this word-duell with Grishnakh, he relies on the help of his fellow orc soldiers ('We'). Besides, it was most probably not him who slew Boromir, or took the prisoners (who are only hobbits anyway).

Re: Yep

I had that there were dozens of Orcs onto the Great Warrior, and many of them wer slain, twenty or thereabouts, before the Orcs succeeded in slaying him; also that so many Orcs onto two untrained Hobbits is quite out-numbering the Hobbits. But your answer is fine. Ask away!

The sig is from 'Aldarion and Erendis', one of my favouite stories, not least because it is the only tale of Numemor in the days of its glory. I only wish that Tolkien had finished it.

I'll wait and see if anyone else gets this question before I post a clue.
