However this is not an official Gamgee, especially since she was wedded to Fastred, and Sam had already altered the sur-name to Gardner. Prior to this the next possibility is Marigold Gamgee who married Tom Cotton and moved to Bywater, but again the marriage seems to discount this as she would be Marigold Cotton. Halfred is the most logical choice (who moved to the Northfarthing). </p> |
