Was it those to M people? Makar and the other one?

- Cirdan / Maglor68

Telchar 01-11-2002 03:45 AM

Elenhin gets it - Nienna was indeed the sister of Manwe and Melko in earlier myth. go on please.

Elenhin 01-11-2002 10:44 AM

Name the two Valar who have talked with Men.

Cirdan the Shipwright 01-11-2002 11:49 AM

Good Question.

Assuming Tuor, Beren or Earendil's mariners don't count, I would have to say

Melkor & Ulmo

- Cirdan / Maglor68

P.S. - Perhaps Mandos also spoke with Beren?

Elrian 01-11-2002 01:01 PM

Mandos and Ulmo?

Elenhin 01-12-2002 07:20 AM

Ah - I should have remembered to exclude those rare Men who had been to Valinor themselves.

Cirdan is right - Melkor spoke with Hurin (and probably others) and Ulmo spoke with Tuor.

Cirdan the Shipwright 01-13-2002 02:01 PM

Which two Valar have the most Maiar identified with them, and what are their names? (Hint - they had three 'known' Maia apiece)

For example, Nienna had one identified Maiar - Olorin.

- Cirdan / Maglor

Elrian 01-13-2002 02:55 PM

Ulmo and Aule.

Telchar 01-14-2002 03:01 AM

Ulmo: Salmar, Ossė and Unien
Orome: Tilion, Alatar and Pallando

Cirdan the Shipwright 01-14-2002 11:06 AM

Right on, Telchar. Go.

- Cirdan / Maglor68

Telchar 01-15-2002 02:30 AM

Cirdan the Shipwright 01-17-2002 01:14 PM

Okay - Which of the Valar is never given any action, and indeed is the only one not mentioned again after the Valaquenta?

- Cirdan / Maglor

Elrian 01-17-2002 02:23 PM

Nessa

Cirdan the Shipwright 01-21-2002 03:13 PM

It is Vaire indeed!

Next question please ...

Turambar 01-29-2002 09:42 AM

Which of the Valar is described in the Silmarillion as singing a song of power, and what was the result?

Telchar 01-30-2002 01:54 AM

Yavanna - the result was the growing of Two Trees

Turambar 01-30-2002 06:01 AM

Correct, Telchar.

Telchar 01-30-2002 07:52 AM

Ezellohar, the green mound outside Valmar has another name - which is?

Elenhin 01-30-2002 08:53 AM

Corollaire?

Telchar 01-31-2002 02:24 AM

Yes - go on.

Telchar 01-31-2002 02:29 AM

Yes - go on.

Elenhin 01-31-2002 11:48 AM

What were the Valar celebrating when Melkor and Ungoliant attacked the Two Trees?

Turambar 01-31-2002 12:06 PM

Just read that, I think! The "Gates of Summer" festival. Featuring live music (of the ainur) and 10 cent miruvar, presumably.

Elenhin 01-31-2002 02:31 PM

"Gates of Summer" was actually a name the Gondolindrim used of the feast before the start of summer. Yet your answer was right - the Valar were having a same kind of festival, a celebration of the arrival of the summer.

Go on, Turambar.

Turambar 02-01-2002 09:54 AM

Olņrin was associated with Manwė but he learned an important trait from another of the Valar - which one and what trait?

Elrian 02-01-2002 07:19 PM

He learned pity from Nienna

Turambar 02-02-2002 09:10 AM

I gotta come up with harder questions. Right again Elrian !

Elrian 02-02-2002 09:30 PM

Who's gardens in Valinor are the source for minuvore?

Eowyn of Ithilien 02-03-2002 02:55 AM

Lorien's?????

Elrian 02-03-2002 06:34 AM

Not Lorien's.

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-03-2002 09:45 AM

Yavanna means "Giver of fruits"... was it her?

Elrian 02-03-2002 11:18 PM

It was Yavannah, your turn Androndo!
