Thats good enough for me, Telchar. Your turn!

Telchar 03-14-2002 02:31 AM

What was the reason that Aiwendil/Radagast came to Middle-earth - or rather what/who/how made it happen - and why??? confused? OK! try anyway

Bruce MacCulloch 03-14-2002 08:30 AM

Curumo took Aiwendil to please Yavanna.

Telchar 03-15-2002 02:27 AM

Yes - go on!

Bruce MacCulloch 03-15-2002 06:41 AM

Which of the Istari had a name that referred to dreams and visions?

zifnab 03-15-2002 10:07 AM

Olorin?

Bruce MacCulloch 03-15-2002 03:53 PM

That's the one!

zifnab 03-15-2002 04:37 PM

What act did Saruman secretly imitate from Gandalf?

Bruce MacCulloch 03-15-2002 04:59 PM

Smoking

zifnab 03-15-2002 06:21 PM

Correct as usual, Bruce!

Nefwathiel Teleri 03-15-2002 08:15 PM

Smoking Pipe-weed.

Bruce MacCulloch 03-15-2002 08:47 PM

Which of the Istari was the "Man of Craft"?

Orald 03-15-2002 10:32 PM

Saruman

Bruce MacCulloch 03-15-2002 10:41 PM

That is correct.

Orald 03-17-2002 01:33 AM

In Jeopardy! style.

This is why the Istari came to the north of Middle-Earth.

Bruce MacCulloch 03-17-2002 02:12 AM

What is "to advise and persuade Men and Elves to good, and to seek to unite in love and understanding all those whom Sauron, should he come again, would endeavor to dominate and corrupt"?

Judges? Correct.

Bruce MacCulloch 03-18-2002 10:41 PM

Here's one that isn't actually about the Istari, but involves one of them.
How long was it after Thráin left his people that Gandalf found him?

Watcher in the Water 03-18-2002 11:40 PM

2 years? Anyone for a stab in the dark?

Telchar 03-19-2002 02:22 AM

9 years from TA 2841 to TA2850!

Bruce MacCulloch 03-19-2002 05:29 AM

Nine years is correct! http://www.plauder-smilies.de/biggthumpup.gif

Telchar 03-19-2002 08:41 AM

Which Istar said that he had attacked Dol Goldur? .... he did use the word 'attack'.

zifnab 03-19-2002 09:21 AM

That would be Gandalf, who persuaded the Council to attack Dol Guldor, before that pesky Necromancer attack Lorien.

Telchar 03-19-2002 10:28 AM

well zifnab - it was gandalf, but he was talking about a one-man attack - the before mentioned in 2850 - it was actually because he called it an 'attack' that I posted the question, as I was rather puzzled by his choise of words, in his talks with Thorin ei. before the white counsils attack in 2941...

Ask a new one, please

zifnab 03-19-2002 10:55 AM

I see, Telchar. Thanks.

Who did Yavanna “beg” to take Aiwendil?

Bruce MacCulloch 03-19-2002 12:42 PM

Curumo

zifnab 03-19-2002 12:53 PM

Passes the torch to Bruce.

Bruce MacCulloch 03-19-2002 04:32 PM

What did Gandalf have to drink, and how much of it, after spending the day "picking out bear tracks"?

Joy 03-20-2002 02:44 AM

A quart of mead.

Bruce MacCulloch 03-20-2002 08:52 AM

Your turn, Joy.

Joy 03-27-2002 11:41 PM

Sorry, it took so long. Couldn't find the thread again.

In what year and age was the White Council founded.

zifnab 03-28-2002 09:28 AM

2463 Third Age.

Joy 03-28-2002 01:14 PM

Correctomundo... Your turn Zifnab.

zifnab 03-28-2002 02:28 PM

In "The Hobbit" where did Radagast live near?

Bruce MacCulloch 03-28-2002 02:53 PM

The Southern Borders of Mirkwood.

zifnab 03-28-2002 03:04 PM

Correct!

Bruce MacCulloch 03-28-2002 03:54 PM

When the Istari first became known in Middle Earth, what did Men hold them to be?

zifnab 03-28-2002 11:37 PM

Of Elven-Kind?

Bruce MacCulloch 03-28-2002 11:42 PM

Yep! http://www.plauder-smilies.de/biggthumpup.gif

Nefwathiel Teleri 04-03-2002 08:00 PM
