Close, but not quite. Not Eldar because of the broadness it covers and not Morequendi or the other one I can't spell, because, well, I can't spell. Think a shorter name and another branch of Elves.

I can't believe I put Nandor twice, just overlook that.

Firondoiel 07-03-2003 01:17 PM

Do you mean Lindar?

Cúdae 07-03-2003 07:18 PM

You got it, Firondoiel! Your turn!

Firondoiel 07-05-2003 09:40 AM

Thank you!

Isengrim II, Isumbras III, Ferumbras II,
Gerontius, Isengrim III, Isumbras IV, Paladin II, Peregrin I, Faramir I

The Thains of the Shire:

you're missing Bucca of the Marish, Gorhendad Oldbuck, 10 unspecified Oldbucks, Fortinbras I and II, Ferumbras III, Isengrim I and 8 unspecified Tooks, likely including all the Is for which there are later IIs and IIIs .

You are correct of course, Mistress Sophia.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 07-22-2003 01:47 PM

Alright, this is tricky.

Helm's Deep, the Pelennor Fields...

The Saucepan Man 08-26-2003 05:18 PM

Well, I'll go for the obvious and say the hills before Morannon, the connection being that they are all the sites of battles depicted in LotR.

If that's not it, a hint perhaps?

Evisse the Blue 09-23-2003 03:08 PM

*bump* Trying to guess the riddle: - for what it's worth:

Expanding on Mr Saucepan's idea:
...the Cracks of Doom. (desperate situations when victory seemed futile, but which were saved by a miraculous turn of events)?

Sleepy Ranger 10-26-2003 12:51 PM

I think I'll ask the next question
Boromir, Grima, Smeagol

Hint: The next one is not from LOTR

symestreem 02-25-2004 07:33 PM

Frodo, Sauron, Beren, Maedhros.

luthien-elvenprincess 02-25-2004 09:34 PM

Morgoth. Each one had a hand injured because they would not let go of a treasure...a silmarillion or the One Ring.

symestreem 03-14-2004 02:10 PM

Sorry, Luthien, I'd forgotten about this thread! Morgoth is correct.

luthien-elvenprincess 03-14-2004 09:10 PM

Ok...what (or in this case, who) is missing from this list and why?

Huan
Eomer
Grishnakh
Meklor and all other evil Valar
Merry
Eowen

Evisse the Blue 03-23-2004 07:56 AM

Faramir? Because they all disobeyed someone about something?

luthien-elvenprincess 03-23-2004 07:44 PM

I am absolutely drawing a blank concerning Faramir's disobeying someone. But that is the correct reasoning for my list. Beregond was the missing item on my list.
So, it your turn with my compliments :)

Oh, duh...now I remember. When he allowed Frodo and Sam to go free..or am I mixing up the movie with the book??? I can't remember.

Evisse the Blue 03-24-2004 06:52 AM

yes i was thinking when he allowed frodo and sam to go free, although it's made more explicit in the movie it's also in the book. But yeah, I guess Beregond is the more obvious guess. I guess I too am being brainwashed by the movie
Anyway - here's the next:

Tom Bombadil
Aragorn
Gandalf

Phervasaion 03-24-2004 11:50 AM

Would it be Elrond?

luthien-elvenprincess 03-24-2004 08:50 PM

Galadriel? People to whom Frodo offered the ring?

Evisse the Blue 03-25-2004 10:45 AM

nope. hint: it's not anything they did

Arvedui III 03-29-2004 06:08 PM

Herm...the master, the king, the Maia, so, perhaps next would be a vala. Manwe?

Evisse the Blue 03-31-2004 05:57 AM

No but you're on the right track...in a way.

Arvedui III 04-09-2004 11:18 AM

Alrighty, I'll try the opposite track then. Eomer, because they all had lordship over something.

Evisse the Blue 04-09-2004 11:35 AM

ups, I didn't mean it to be so hard to guess...

It's simple really. You're just on the wrong track.
Hint: the missing character is not from LOTR.

Mad Baggins 04-09-2004 11:47 AM

If it's ascending in power, would the next one be Iluvatar?

Evisse the Blue 04-09-2004 12:15 PM

nope.

The Perky Ent 04-13-2004 10:50 PM

No clue, but Morgoth?

NightKnight 04-14-2004 09:53 AM

Glorfindel?

The Saucepan Man 04-14-2004 11:17 AM

Reasons?

Please folks, give reasons for your answers. Otherwise we could all just keep guessing Middle-earth characters until someone gets it. This is a game, not a character listing exercise.

Evisse the Blue 04-14-2004 02:52 PM

no one guessed yet...

I guess this is partly my fault for being so vague...it could indeed be anyone and it has resorted to guessing.
Ok, a huge hint: Names.

Arvedui III 04-14-2004 04:44 PM

Now we all have elvish names

Herm...maybe Saruman because they all have multiple names and titles.

Evisse the Blue 04-15-2004 04:04 AM

Right -o!

Another missing one from this list would be Turin, but Saruman is correct as well of course.

Arvedui III 04-16-2004 08:37 PM

Cool. Herm...lemme see. Ah, got one.

Faramir
Aragorn
Eomer

Fingolfin II 04-16-2004 08:41 PM

Theoden? They all are/were loved by Eowyn?

Arvedui III 04-17-2004 01:05 PM

Good guess, but not what I was looking for.

wilwarin538 06-18-2004 02:25 PM

Its like all the royalty, Aragorns a king, Eomer is a king(at the end of LOTR)and Faramir is the steward, your missing the prince of Merkwood, so Legolas?

Morsul the Dark 06-21-2004 02:54 PM

i think eowyn

all these charactors were royalty and were orphaqns so Eomer's sister.

paavo 06-21-2004 03:06 PM

maybe Gandalf? since then there would be two kings and two stewards.

wilwarin538 06-24-2004 12:45 PM

are you there Arvedui II?

wilwarin538 07-03-2004 06:12 PM

10 day rule! 10 day rule!

I think Ive got a good question for this, but it is my first time so it might be too easy:

Thorin
Kili
Oin
Balin
Fili

Who`s missing??
