Telchar - but Turgon didn't march ALONE, he had 10,000 mail clad elves to keep him company !

Does your question have anything to do with cave-dwelling ??

Telchar 01-09-2002 03:57 AM

You're right about Turgon - and wrong about cave dwelling

Three of them did something that the fourth didn't.

Turambar 01-09-2002 04:08 AM

Weapons? Was Tuor the only axe wielder?

Telchar 01-09-2002 07:08 AM

It has to with deeds - not items!

Turambar 01-09-2002 08:07 AM

That's right you did say that.

OK did all but one of them slay an elf ?

Telchar 01-09-2002 08:27 AM

Yes that is caooret - Elrond never slew an elf. Go on.

Turambar 01-09-2002 08:30 AM

Which elf did Celegorm kill?

ArwenBaggins 01-09-2002 09:47 AM

this is easy Falmar, FRODO doesn't belong because he doesn't have red hair

ArwenBaggins 01-09-2002 09:58 AM

Here's one:

Sam
Pippin
Frodo
Merry

The Precise answer was that Only Bilbo didn't have a son present at the counsil of Elrond...
I will take this chance to point out your mistake, Telchar. Frodo is Bilbo's nefu. Bilbo was a bachelor his whole life if you remember.

And I beleive it is Turumbars turn. Sorry ArwenBaggins. You answered Falmars question when it had been passed up because he did not reply to the thread for over a week. So, according to the rules, even if you did answer it correctly it would not give you the right to make a new Post. And secondly, you do not know that you answered the question right. You shouldn't assume you did.

Just wanted to point that out. We are waiting eagerly, Turumbar.

Telchar 01-10-2002 03:24 AM

Elendur??? What are you talking about??? Mistake ... how can I make a mistake when I posed the original question? Bilbo didn't have a son present at the counsil of Elrond as did Denethor, Gloin and Thranduil.

Turambar 01-10-2002 12:31 PM

I think Arwen was answering the question at the bottom of page 1 - a very common mistake. Elendur, I think, mis-read “didn’t” for “did” re: Bilbo. Anyway, try this one:

Fingon
Turgon
Huor
Haldir

ArwenBaggins 01-12-2002 07:20 PM

Heres 1: (its fairly easy 2)
Eowyn
Eomer
Legolas
Gimli

Huor is Edain, the others are Elves?

Turambar 01-13-2002 08:09 AM

No - a little harder than that, but not much !

Turambar 01-23-2002 09:27 AM

Hint - unnumbered tears were shed over 3 of them . . .

zifnab 01-23-2002 11:28 AM

Was it that Fingon, Turgon and Huor were slain in the Nirneath Aronoediad. And Haldir was not?

Turambar 01-23-2002 01:15 PM

Right concept, wrong person !

Legolas 01-23-2002 02:41 PM

They all died in Nirnaeth Arnoediad except Turgon. Turgon retreated to Gondolin, with Huor and Hurin guarding his backside.

I think what threw people off was the case of two Haldirs - in this case, I assume you are referring to Haldir, a lord of the Haladin of Brethil, not the elf who resided in Lothlorien.

(edit)
Or maybe it's that they all contain the letter 'r' except Fingon!

Turambar 01-24-2002 07:12 AM

Legalos (A Greek elf??) got it right. All were killed in the Nirnaeth except Turgon. Ask away, Legalos.

Legolas 01-25-2002 08:31 AM

Actually, I accidentally misspelled my name when registering. I'm trying to get it changed...quite embarassing!

Anyway, I don't know how difficult this will be.

Celeborn
Dior Eluchíl
Amdir
Galadhon

It's *not* that three were rulers of Lorien...I'm looking for something else.

Edit - changed one on the list, he made the question unclear.

Elenhin 01-26-2002 02:00 PM

Amdir was not said to be related to Thingol.

Legolas 01-26-2002 06:35 PM

Not the wording I had in mind, but correct nonetheless!

All but Amdir were elves of Doriath (meaning they did come from the same line as Thingol).

Elenhin 01-27-2002 05:28 AM

There hasn't been an Orc-related question for a while, so here's one:

Grishnakh
Ugluk
Shagrat
Gorbag
Lagduf
Muzgash

Elrian 01-27-2002 07:07 AM

Shagrat was the only one that wasn't killed.

Elrian 01-27-2002 07:07 AM

Shagrat was the only one that wasn't killed.

Elenhin 01-27-2002 11:58 AM

Correct - go on Elrian.

Elrian 01-27-2002 05:27 PM

Arwen
Luthien
Galadriel
Celebrian
Aragorn

Elenhin 01-29-2002 12:44 PM

Only Luthien married someone who was not in any way related to her?
Only Luthien did not have Noldorin ancestors?
Aragorn was male, others female?

Hm. I can't think of anything else right now.

Elrian 01-29-2002 02:13 PM

Sorry, no, no and no.

Turambar 01-29-2002 07:41 PM

Did only Galadriel marry someone wholly of her race?

Elrian 01-30-2002 05:59 PM

Sorry that's not it either.

Elrian 02-02-2002 09:42 PM

Think possessions.

Eowyn of Ithilien 02-03-2002 03:03 AM

Arwen Celebrian Luthien Galadriel Aragorn
*hmm*
possessions??? Luthien had the Silmarillion at one time, Aragorn ended up with the Elfstone which Galadriel had given him, Galadriel had the Ring of Adamant...eek! all the girls are related...I hope this has given someone else a clue as to the answer lol

You forgot the necklace that Arwen gives Frodo. Nice way to pad the post count

Turambar 02-03-2002 07:04 PM

Luthien never possessed the elf-stone?

Elrian 02-03-2002 11:15 PM

That's it Turamber. Your turn.

Eldarion son of Aragorn 02-14-2002 11:39 PM

I thought that the obvious odd man was Aragorn, I mean him being the only Human Male out of the lot.

Anyway it's been more than 7 days:

Caranthir
Turgon
Orodreth
Dior
Maeglin
Amrod
Aegnor
Gil-Galad

Tough/easy?

Bruce MacCulloch 02-15-2002 12:28 AM

Dior
The rest were Noldor.

The Odd one out was Luthien. It was my post after all I would know!
