Um, well thank you, Susan. But i would really rather if you didn't use her in the RPG. No offence, of course.

Ivy of the Woods 01-05-2003 02:31 PM

Blair is Nura's brother, who Amanduial will be playing as a secondary character.
Amanduial would you like the honours of making his character description?

Yeah. Sanskrit is the Latin of the Asiatic languages. Basically, it's just as irritating as all other character based languages (like Chinese and Hindi) and it has the added bonus of being utterly useless like Latin! I went to the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment. If that sounds like some wierd cult school, that's only because it is . I'm learning Chinese now because I happen to be living in China, and it is a useful thing to know. I continue with Sanskrit because it's a neat party trick. (Hey, baby, I can write your name in ancient Indian characters. How 'bout a drink?)

So, now I'm actually back. Heh heh. Sorry about that false start. I'll be joining up momentarily. Stupid public computers. I'm home now.

Man, how is it that my school name is so damn dull? W********n Girls School. Dull. (sorry, I dont give out the actual name in cyberspace). And Im going back tomorrow...

Frowns over glasses, before conceding that that would be pretty cool.

EDIT: Oh sorry Ivy. Right, will do that asap...unless you have any ideas and would like to do it yourself?

Oh, yet another edit: Lilebrian, next time you post on a discussion thread, please introduce yourself first. And on the game thread, its always helpful if we know youre name.

There was something else I was going to say...oh yes; doug, please dont quote on the game thread. You can copy and paste what other people have said, but dont put it in the quote marks, ok?

Well, erm, whatever works...

Its the eyes which sort of frown over the glasses. Its an art form my dear, an art form.

dragoneyes 01-12-2003 04:12 PM

Are we going to leave Lorien then? Have we got everyone?

Aylwen Dreamsong 01-12-2003 05:22 PM

I think we have everyone. But we only have...I think six searchers and one follower!

Feadhros
Harlon
Thoriel
Garen
Jemel
And Sultir.

Okay, so we have five searchers and one follower. Am I missing someone? That doesn't seem like many. Shall we just go and save Nuhrive before they get too far away?

We must wait for Aman.

Amanaduial the archer 01-13-2003 01:13 PM

Im sorry everyone.

Right, Nuhrive is going to attempt an escape, with the aid of Nura-if thats ok Ivy. Whether she gets away completely is up to yonder bad guys. Maybe she will be found by the easterlings and they will decide to kill her now, to save themselves the trouble, or maybe just make do with a beating? And the searchers will find them in the nick of time and there will be an appropriate battle?

I dont know; how do you bad guys feel on the matter of dying? (A profound question...)

I will post when I get back. Please dont post until I have.

Oh well. I was never meant to be a very long RP.

[ January 13, 2003: Message edited by: Amanaduial the archer ]

Susan Delgado 01-13-2003 04:38 PM

On the matter of dying, as I posted in another RPG:
Quote:

It is not appropriate to kill off other players unless they've told us they're not coming back. When players are absent, even for long periods of time, it's usually easier simply to assign the character to someone else until the player returns. A Kill should never be done lightly or on a whim, and never without discussion.
But of course, that's not exactly what you meant, is it?

Amanaduial the archer 01-13-2003 04:41 PM

Roll out the barrels, right?

No, I meant if there is an argy bargy (just to vary words from plain old fight), then its a bit dull if everyone survives.

Im sorry, its not nessesary for anyone to die really. I wasnt going to kill of someone elses character!

Susan Delgado 01-13-2003 05:13 PM

That's right, that what happens when you're in two games with one person

I knew it wasn't what you meant, but still it's good to know, yes?

Ithaeliel 01-13-2003 09:01 PM

There seems to be a lot going on with the wild men, but what's happening with the searchers? We're still waiting in Galadriel's halls, and I am quite uncertain what to do . Should the searchers leave soon, even if they are a diminuitive party, or should we wait for more?

Susan Delgado 01-13-2003 10:41 PM

Yes, the searchers should leave soon. They're letting the kidnappers get too far away. The longer they wait to leave, the less chance they'll have of finding Nuhrive, alive or dead.

Amanaduial the archer 01-14-2003 11:27 AM

Ich, nice, thankyou Susan.

True though. Come on, start searching, Im getting further away and Nuhrives rescue plan isnt that solid even in the writers mind!

Susan Delgado 01-14-2003 11:38 AM

Well, it is true...the searchers don;t know what's going on in the kidnappers' camp.

Sultir can't go anywhere until the adults leave. He may be sneaking off, but he's not foolosh enough to sneak off with no support at all. He wants the adults somewhere nearby in case something goes wrong and he needs help.

Amanaduial the archer 01-14-2003 03:20 PM

Come on, me and Ivy and the baddies cant proceed any further until youre sorted and on your way. Well just sort of freeze in time, then be continue escaping, get caught after a while.

Time in RPs. Tis a wonderful thing.

Garen LiLorian 01-14-2003 11:14 PM

ne Gareth ne Liborian ne duke ne comte;
I am Garen LiLorien.

A mangled version of the Coucy family theme, perhaps, but I hope it got the point across.

To say it more plainly; stop calling me Gareth! Gareth was Garen's great-great-whatever grandfather

Oh, and by the way. Garen LiLorian (my nick) was a sixteenth century French knight. My character is Garen LiLorien. As in Lothlorien. The resemblance suggested the name and position to me, so it's not just a spelling error. Thank you for your time.

doug*platypus 01-15-2003 02:55 AM

...interesting about your nick! Funny how back in the day instead of popstars they had kings and knights. Was it spelled LiLorien, or le Lorien?

On the subject of bad guys dying, at this stage I'd rather noone killed Skara, unless I change my mind further down the line. I think it would be interesting if at least he and Rû-Sahn could live to fight another day. They are both cunning and resourceful, and I'm sure they could somehow escape without being destroyed. The raiding party was originally 13 men plus Skara (excluding Nura), so there's plenty of other baddies to chop up.

Not sure about Blair, since he hasn't really had much to say so far, maybe whoever is controlling him can post a decision. If he was killed it would give Nura more reason to stay with the Elves, if that is what eventually will happen. Or maybe he just pushes her too far. I dunno, I'm sure someone will post something appropriate to sever their family ties.

Shouldn't Nura have yelled out "sorry to boar you!" or "hope you're not getting boared" or something like that? Too Asterix?

Aylwen Dreamsong 01-15-2003 06:34 AM

Oh! Sorry! Sorry Garen. Hehehe. I'll edit that this afternoon when I get back from school. Sorry.

Aylwen

Ithaeliel 01-15-2003 03:30 PM

Oops! I think I was one of the people calling you Gareth... I'll edit my posts as necessary. Sorry about that.

doug*platypus 01-16-2003 02:34 AM

If any good guys want to die, to add some sadness to what will obviously be yet another victory for the accursed goodies, please PM myself or Rû-Sahn. I'll make it as quick and painless as I can, I promise (said with one large, calloused hand behind his back). Of course, it would be possible that no good guys are killed.

Susan Delgado 01-16-2003 10:50 AM

It's also possible that no bad guys are killed, but in any case, I can see Sultir being captured (stupid little kid not paying attention to where he's riding!) and they might kill him if they didn't want to try and make him a slave.

Amanaduial the archer 01-16-2003 11:30 AM

No! Sultir cant die!!!

If there are that many NPCs, then the eplves have plenty of victims anyway, if need be. Dont kill any played characters then.

Ithaeliel 01-16-2003 03:12 PM

Quote:

*pouts cutely* Oh, but does it have to be? Can't we just keep Nuhrive and live evilly ever after? (half joking)

Where is Lilebrian Longbow? She has only posted once, and it's been a while since.

Morai 01-16-2003 08:06 PM

I definatley wouldn't want Harlon to be killed. But I wouldn't mind him getting a broken arm or leg. (No deadly injuries please)

doug*platypus 01-17-2003 07:58 PM

Please remember to disable sigs on the RPG thread!

Kill as many NPC baddies as you like. There's 13 men, and Nura in the group. 3 men are PCs including Blair. I think it's highly unlikely that no men at all would be killed. It will probably come down to 'kill or be killed' for the elves, and I don't see much hope for pacifism.

dragoneyes 01-18-2003 03:32 AM

Could someone please enlighten me on what Garen said? I would like to learn elvish but I have not the time.

Aylwen Dreamsong 01-18-2003 08:05 AM

Good Guys,

I'm not sure about Garen's elvish, but I thought you'd be asking me what Jemel said. I'm sorry I couldn't write it in Sindarin, so the elvish you see in my last post was Quenyan.

"Elmë ista elyë nar tanna!" translates
roughly to "We know you are here!"

"Mana nar elyë carya sinomë, Sultir?" translates, again, roughly, to "What are you doing here, Sultir?"

There, just in case you were wondering. Though you'll have to get Garen to translate his piece for you. These are of course, rough translations, but it will do, hopefully.

Aylwen

Garen LiLorian 01-18-2003 11:27 PM

Well, my syntax is pretty awful, but it was basically
"Daro amin, Usquener!" is "Drop me, stinky one"
"Dina, hin" is "silence, child"
and
"En mani amin utue!" is literally "Look what I found" but I don't know if it is correct grammatically.

Sorry for the confusion. There's been so much Elvish flying around in this game, I assumed everyone knew it.

Thanks Garen!

About injuries, I truly don't mind if Thoriel gets seriously injured. You can deprive her of a limb if you really want but nothing worse than that.

Susan Delgado 01-19-2003 01:11 PM

No No No
Sultir can't be discovered yet, it's much much too soon.

Ithaeliel 01-19-2003 01:46 PM

Oops..... though you could have told us a little sooner....

Susan Delgado 01-19-2003 03:50 PM

I thought it was a given that he'd follow them for a while before being dicovered. He is a Elf after all, by which I mean he's more stealthy than you've made him out to be. Also, Faedhros (and possibly Jemeth, though I'm not too sure) understand about Nuhrive, so they might just continue to ignore the rustling, like they did at first.

edit: Thanks for deleting your post Ithaeliel. Garen, I hope you don't mind what I've done to your character. If you do, let me know and I'll gladly find another way to hide.

Aylwen Dreamsong 01-19-2003 04:33 PM

I deleted my post as well, which was after Garen's. I thought we may have been finding Sultir too fast.

In my last post, I used elvish again. Sorry! I couldn't help it! So, here are the rought translations!

"Mana ne sinomë i aldan?" is basically "What is in the bushes?"

and

"Inyë harya lá atta quetequë," is basically,
"I have nothing to report,"

Don't worry, Jemel won't give away Sultir!

Aylwen

Garen LiLorian 01-20-2003 12:56 AM

Oops. Sorry. I just assumed it had all been worked out over PM.

No problem with character changes. To tell the truth, I was a little surprised I was chosen to grab Sultir anyway, as there's probably someone in the group a little better suited to tracking and sneaking than the big clumsy Man.

Susan Delgado 01-20-2003 02:42 AM

To date, I have not recieved one single PM related to actual gameplay here, but thanks for being so accomodating

Amanaduial the archer 01-20-2003 03:01 PM

hey we're gettinga full elvish lesson here from Miss Dreamsong! Ah well, languages not a strong point.

Im really sorry for my absense recently, piles of work and games. Im really sorry.

Morai 01-21-2003 12:56 PM

Sorry that I haven't posted in a few days. My sister got married 750 miles from where I live. (My family being as poor as they are, we drove the whole way.)
