Did it make(in a way) hatred between two races?

Evisse the Blue 06-22-2005 04:13 AM

After much pondering:

Is it a royal term of derision? -Not Stormcrow

Did he get three gifts, an elvish knife being the least of them? - Not Sador

Did it make(in a way) hatred between two races? Not Scatha

Hookbill, what's your answer?..

Hookbill the Goomba 06-22-2005 09:54 AM

Ha, ha!

:D

My answer was Sheen. A title given to the Moon by the Vanyar, the Light Elves of Valinor, at the time of its creation. The name is a translation of Elvish Isil.

Letter please!

Evisse the Blue 06-22-2005 10:13 AM

Ah. Good one

Next letter = U.

Arestevana 06-22-2005 11:02 AM

Gil-Galad 06-22-2005 11:17 AM

Is it Elvish for Vladimir?

NightKnight 06-22-2005 04:06 PM

Is it Shiny?

Evisse the Blue 06-23-2005 01:30 PM

It's not Sunlending, it's not the Sun.

Gil Galad, I have no idea about your question. Do you mean the equivalent of Vladimir on one of those Elvish name generators? Do you mean a possible Elvish name made up from 'volod' meaning to rule and 'mir' meaning peace? Either way, I'm at a loss....

Gil-Galad 06-23-2005 02:32 PM

err...to be honest i'm confused myself... but yea i'm pretty sure its the name generator...

Vladimir in elvish is Surutar

Nilpaurion Felagund 06-23-2005 09:24 PM

Name generator?

In that case, it is not a literal translation, and would not be counted . . .

. . . I think. Could anyone rule on this? Sauce?

Gil-Galad 06-24-2005 10:03 AM

bah i hate making big fusses over these stupid things, just let it pass and i'll post again in a week seesh...

The answers must be from Tolkien's works. Answers from name generators do not count. Otherwise, we might as well start allowing names from fan fics etc, which would make the question-setter's job impossible.

Hookbill the Goomba 06-25-2005 11:55 AM

Orominuialwen 06-29-2005 11:05 AM

Orominuialwen 07-06-2005 04:21 PM

It's not Eressėa or Erech.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what yours could be, Arestevana. Answer please!

Arestevana 07-07-2005 12:51 PM

That would be 'Erusen', the "children of Eru" for whom Arda was prepared.
