That's a beautiful church, Lindale. (I'm assuming it's a church...)

An old Anglican church built during the American colonization period in the Cordillera area (around the 1900s I believe). Those Anglo-American missionaries succeeded in less than twenty years where the Spaniards failed for three hundred years--Christianizing the area. That is in Sagada, Mt. Province, way up in in the northern mountains of the Philippines, where the people are believed to be dogeaters and savage head-hunters (true, in a sense). Beside the church is the Anglican graveyard, and opposite that is the very traditional graveyard of the Igorots (hollow tree-trunks as sarcophagi, which hang very gracefully on the mountain cliffs), which thankfully the Anglo-Ams did not destroy. Well, if they did, the Igorots would have hunted their heads like they did the Spanish. :D

Oh by the way, that was taken two or three years ago, so maybe the wave of modernization has more or less changed the area... I hope not.

Not a picture for the photo page but for the heck of it here's one of me during the craze of the Dark Knight premiere :D

Feanor of the Peredhil 09-13-2008 11:05 AM

Rockin' pic, TOREstel. Love it.

Lindale 09-13-2008 11:16 AM

Nice one, Only Real Estel. :D

I thought I'd join you so you won't feel so alone, Lindale. It's just the problem of finding a decent picture. I'm dashingly handsome of course, but I can't seem to find a photographer good enough to capture it on film. Or perhaps I need a new camera. ;)

Don't know who runs this show but I attached a few pics of various size.. er.. take your pick!

Dashingly handsome, eh? I've never found someone here in BD that... fits my taste when it comes to the face-value. Well, the family always thought I have a very weird taste for boyfriends and crushes; this must be another manifestation. :D peace man!

Just take it as a compliment from someone who thinks Edward Scissorhands-Johnny Depp is cute and who likes to have crushes on nerdy Physics professors. *sighs*

Just a thought though: 'tmight be better for your last photo to have been shot if the sun wasn't too high or something.

So you're saying I'd look better without light? Hey now, that's just mean! :p

Lindale 09-16-2008 10:15 AM

Noooo!

My dad's a photographer, see, and he teaches me whenever I get the time. I think he'd say that the camera needed filter. Yes, that's it, that's what I was thinking a while ago. Camera filters. Damn English skills.

skip spence 09-16-2008 10:39 AM

I was just kidding, Lindale, I know what you meant. And you're quite right, the picture would've been nicer had it been shot in the late evening. Guess we didn't have time to stick around.

Btw, even I think Johnny Depp is cute, and I'm a straight male.

Also, from what I've seen, your English skills are nothing short of perfect.

Yes, I know, he can look decent in stuff like Finding Neverland, at some point Charlie, but Edward Scissorhands or Pirates? My brother said I'd much be better off if I said Orli-Legolas was cuter.

Haha, now that I've tried to stare at your photos, I think the last one should go to the photo page.

Oh and yeah, if you murdered your photographer, that would be the next best thing to giving him a new camera. XD Thoughts that bother the poor brains of a lost little girl trying to read about the Third Reich in the middle of the night, oh my.

Hey Johnny Depp was probably at his cutest in Edward Scissorhands.

Skippy, how old are you actually? I couldn't decide between 20 and 35.

Well, I celebrated my 25th birthday in August....

...uhm *mumbles*

...six years ago.

Laurinquë 09-17-2008 12:53 AM

Just like how I'm 12 and 50 months old! :P

Has everyone seen my "lovely" picture? I'm shamelessly posing with my teacup.

Lindale 09-17-2008 08:31 AM

16? You look younger in that photo, Laurinquë. Well, I was that age (minus one) too when my photo was taken. Can I get that photo changed into something more recent? :D

Oddwen 09-17-2008 11:56 AM

There's no need to update my picture Volster, but I thought at least one of you might get a kick out of the wig I found at work yesterday.

:D

Mithalwen 09-17-2008 12:01 PM

just don't put up the picture of that awful figurine, Oddie....

Volo 09-17-2008 12:22 PM

:S Oddie, I thought that was your new haircut, without the braid, and was scared.

Gwathagor 09-17-2008 04:39 PM

12 and 50 months? I could have believed 12.

*Sigh* I know. Many people think I am much younger than I really am (I've been mistaken for a 8th grader on more than one occasion). Doesn't help you much when your 16 and you look 12, but hopefully when I'm 56 I'll look 52. Or something like that. I think it's my round face that makes people think I'm younger.

I think looking younger than you are is a common "problem" among us 'downers (I "suffer" from it too :)) but you know, if you look younger you can buy children's tickets to everywhere and get everything cheaper... err, nothing, I mean, because that's obviously criminal. ;) Anyway, it does work the way you said: reputedly, my mum was IDed for a bar (you can get in if you're 18) when she was 24 or something, and now she's soon 43 and many people assume she's in her late thirties and are surprised to find out she's a bit older. So, good for us babyfaces, eh? :D

Lindale 09-18-2008 03:04 AM

Hmm, if your professor during the first day of class mistakes you for a high school student and ask what the hell are you doing in his higher English class and won't believe you even if you said you are a junior and have taken all prerequisites for that class, will that still be amusing? :( I look younger than my age (turning eighteen in a couple of months), and still younger than most my batchmates by a year. Overall result I look like a high school student next to them.

Thinlómien 10-25-2008 03:44 PM

I love Aganzir's new picture! :D (Maybe because it was I who took it... ;) But really, she just looks so funny (and cute). :D)

Groin Redbeard 10-25-2008 07:28 PM

Be happy that you look so young, Laurinque. :) I am often mistaken for someone in my early twenties and it's not always a pleasant experience. Still, your picture looks great and I'm glad that you've added it to the Downs!:D

She looks like a happy Elf maiden running through the woods without a care in the world.:) Excellent bit of photography.

Aganzir 10-26-2008 04:12 AM

Haha, did you notice my maple horns? ;)

That picture was taken a month ago so no, it isn't that green here anymore. That tree has dropped its leaves ages ago.

The best looking entwife I've ever seen!

I envy the maple horns, sadly I'm stuck with plain old Sequoia or Madrona.

Haha thank you. :D

Although I don't know that much of Sequoia or Madrona since we don't have them here, they at least look nice. So unless their leaves are sticky and smell awful ten metres away, they should be as good entwife trees as maples. ;) Or maybe they look a bit more entish though...

Gwathagor 10-28-2008 01:33 PM

Sequoias are ridiculously big and would make very impressive Entwives.

That's okay, Lauri. When I was eight my little brother and I were sitting in the car in the parking lot of the hospital, because my mum had to go in and get something (probably her paycheck) and one of the security guards came out and saw us, and he though I was five. I was really upset, because I wasn't five, I was eight!

I don't suppose I look young for my age now...

Gil-Galad 11-03-2008 10:47 PM

i might browse through my facebook photos for a new photo... i got too many to count...

McCaber 11-08-2008 06:40 PM

Well, I have a new and better picture of myself to share.

Thinlómien 11-17-2008 08:46 AM

Just a piece of amusement...

I was looking at very old photos and something caught my eye once again - I haven't changed at all. I thought this piece of proof might amuse you...
