Viggo?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 01-23-2004 08:11 PM

That sounds suspiciously like something Sean Astin would say.... Although I doubt that we'd be continuing our recent Astin-quote mania, but you never know.....

Quote:

Luthien's quote was a doozy, hobbit or no!
Was it? I'm strrangely flattered.

Lyta_Underhill 01-23-2004 08:37 PM

Sorry, not Sir Ian McKellen, nor Viggo, nor Sean...and by the way, Luthien...I love tea! (Told you I said it!)

Cheers!
Lyta

The Saucepan Man 01-23-2004 10:27 PM

Christopher Lee?

By the way, not all of us Brits are die-hard tea drinkers. I loathe the stuff myself.

Lyta_Underhill 01-23-2004 11:09 PM

Sorry, not Chris Lee either! Anyone want a hint?
Saucepan Man, I understand about the odd man out on the drink preferences. I'm one of the few people I know who HATE most commercial soft drinks, especially Coca-Cola. Jasmine or Green Tea is my favorite, though. Oddly enough, a cup of hot green tea is most refreshing after 8 hours of working out in summer heat.

This bit of tea trivia brought to you by Lyta Underhill, who heartily recommends 4 o'clock teatime, just because that's the time that energy wanes and my endless hobbit appetite reasserts itself...

This wasn't supposed to be a treatise on tea, now was it? Anyway, not Chris Lee, not Viggo, not Sir Ian McKellen, nor Sean Astin.

Finally, the hint that will narrow it down: it is one of the Fellowship.

Cheers!
Lyta

The Saucepan Man 01-24-2004 12:39 AM

John Rhys-Davis, then?

Actually, I love Coca-Cola, but my dentist has forbidden me to drink it. And red wine too. Then again, I'm ignoring that second bit.

Evisse the Blue 01-24-2004 05:20 AM

it's Elijah

(oh, and I'm a tea lover myself! )

Lyta_Underhill 01-24-2004 10:40 AM

Saucepan Man has it! It was John Rhys-Davies in an interview for hollywoodjesus.com . The entire thing can be found here: John Rhys-Davies Interview
Cheers!
Lyta

P.S. If I went to a dentist, I'm sure he or she would forbid all the coffee and tea I drink and all the sugar I put in them...so I don't go! And I prefer hard cider in the line of harder beverages...red wine is too much for me, usually! (Funny how this is turning into the "what'll you have?" thread as well as the Actor's Quotes Quiz thread!

So much fun! I've actually had high tea before. Scones and all. Even though I'm not a Brit. So I can honestly say that it's a custom I admire very much. The English should be commended for finding a reasonable way to squeeze another meal into the day.

And I must admit, I love tea, too. Green tea with no sugar. I'm kind of weird that way, I get it from my mom. But any kind of tea's cool, as long as it's not pear vanilla or something unearthly weird like that.

But my favorite drink would have to be water. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next quote, Saucepan Man.

The Saucepan Man 01-26-2004 03:40 AM

Ah, tea - as in the meal. Well, that's different. I'm a great fan, only I have it with coffee. If you're ever in the West Country of England (Devon/Cornwall), I would heartily recommend trying a cream tea.

Next quote:

Quote:

I want to do comedy at the moment, comedy, and some action stuff and martial arts. I want to do martial arts as well.

Mariska Greenleaf 01-26-2004 04:39 AM

Sala Baker.

The Saucepan Man 01-26-2004 08:41 AM

Gosh, that was quick. I thought that it might be a difficult one, but I suppose I should have known better than to pick an interview that was published on ToRN.

Your turn, Mariska.

Mariska Greenleaf 01-26-2004 09:11 AM

Yeah, and I believe I used that same interview sometime ago for this very game...

Quote:

We sat around laughing and drinking and listening to music, and Barry Osbourne's there and telling us old Hollywood tales. It was a really amazing night and one of the memories I cherish the most.

Eruwen 01-26-2004 10:17 AM

I think I have an idea at who this is, and just to see if I'm on the right track, I'm guessing Dom...my usual one.

Mariska Greenleaf 01-26-2004 10:18 AM

Nope, not Dom...

Eruwen 01-26-2004 10:34 AM

Ok then, was it Elijah?

Mariska Greenleaf 01-26-2004 10:38 AM

No, not Elijah either...

Eruwen 01-26-2004 10:41 AM

Hmm...well, I know I've heard the quote before, I just can't remember who said it. It seems like it was on the FOTR EV DVD. Maybe...Sean Astin?

Lyta_Underhill 01-26-2004 11:15 AM

Karl Urban!
Cheers,
Lyta

Samwise 01-26-2004 03:45 PM

David Wenham?

Luthien_ Tinuviel 01-26-2004 09:45 PM

Billy Boyd?

Mariska Greenleaf 01-27-2004 04:23 AM

The Haunted Halfling has it!

Lyta_Underhill 01-27-2004 11:00 AM

Thanks, Mariska! Now on to the next quote:
Quote:

Professionally they are both mavericks. Their prime aim is to work well on worthwhile projects. They do not suffer fools, even though they are themselves brilliant fools, clowns.
Extra points to the one who guesses not only the speaker, but the two being spoken of! (Not that I have any way to give "extra points")!

Cheers,
Lyta

Eruwen 01-27-2004 01:11 PM

Well, the only two I can think that someone would join into the same category would be Chris Lee and Ian McKellen, but as for who said it...I'm lost. Possibly Dom? He says "brilliant" a lot.

Samwise 01-27-2004 06:12 PM

Hm...no clue, so I'll just go with my standard guess, Sean Astin. As for who it's about, it makes me think of Dom and Billy....

zb 01-27-2004 07:08 PM

I'm thinking a "serious actor" (if you get what I mean...) Ian McKellen?

Lyta_Underhill 01-27-2004 07:18 PM

Sorry, Eruwen, Samwise, the speaker is not Dom, nor is it Sean. The two spoken about are not Ian McKellen and Christopher Lee, nor are they Dom and Billy. EDIT: zb swooped in and got it right, after I had already posted! The speaker is indeed Sir Ian McKellen! (Now, who is he talking about?) Anyway, the turn goes to zb, no matter what now! But those extra points are waiting!

Cheers,
Lyta

P.S. I love the idea of the "standard answer", Samwise! That's one reason I decided NOT to use a Sean quote I came upon earlier... I knew you guessed Sean as a matter of course! I couldn't make it TOO easy!

Luthien_ Tinuviel 01-27-2004 10:20 PM

We really have developed standard answers here.... Eruwen guesses Dom, Samwise guesses Sean A., or else I jump in and guess him before she gets here. Then I take one of the other hobbits, and everyone else proceeds to guess the older actors who played men, rather than hobbits. Identifiable guessing trends. Weird.

*Reading the above two posts, chuckles to herself...*

No, zb, I don't get what you mean, but I don't get what a lot of people mean...

I'm supposing you mean a seasoned actor with many years of experience under his belt. (EDIT: Just thought about this statement and realized that Elijah Wood has been acting as long as I can remember him being alive, so he'd qualify as well...I think I'm with you on this one, Samwise! )But Sir Ian can be very silly when he wants to be! Anyone have a guess at the two people he was referring to in the quote? (I know its zb's turn, but I'll tell soon if no one wants to guess...

Cheers!
Lyta (might just use a Sean Astin quote her next turn, just to throw Samwise off again! But no, that wouldn't work, would it?

Okay, here's one:

Quote:

The moment I cried at was when Aragorn kneels before the Hobbits.
(I don't *think* it's been used before in this game, if it has I can provide another or pass my turn on to the first person to tell me that my great memory isn't so great after all )

***

Okay, about the 'serious' thing: Serious is the wrong word entirely. Forget that. It was what I wrote pre-9am.

What I meant was that the bit about 'clowns' made me think of the role of the clown/fool in Shakespeare. And that the overall tone was that of an older person.

***

btw: a quick google search reveals who 'they' are, but I feel as if I shouldn't give it away since it's not a 'guess' per se. [blatant giveaway: If you want to know the answer, google the first sentence of the quote (in quote marks).]

PoisonIvy 01-28-2004 06:31 AM

sean astin? i did try the google search, i hope i'm not wrong.

Evisse the Blue 01-28-2004 07:46 AM

Lyta, I believe Ian was talking about some guys from the crew, possibly PJ and Fran? yes, I'm aiming for those extra points, and this quote sounds very familiar!

PS: Happy Birthday to Elijah!

Lyta_Underhill 01-28-2004 01:46 PM

Sorry, Evisse, no points yet! zb, your quote does sound like Sean Astin, actually, but I didn't do a search and its already been guessed, so never mind! Anyway, a hint for the two in question: they're both seated in high places in their respective realms in Middle Earth...(hope that's not too obvious a hint!)

Cheers,
Lyta
P.S. Seconds on the birthday wishes for Elijah!

Samwise 01-28-2004 05:37 PM

Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving?

Or...Liv Tyler and Viggo Mortensen?

Anywhoo, for the quote,
what the heck, Hugo Weaving?

PS: Happy 23rd, Little One!

Eruwen 01-28-2004 06:24 PM

Hmm...for the quote, I'm going to guess Liv Tyler, for once.

As for the extra points, Viggo Mortenson and Bernard Hill.

EDIT: Oh, wait, maybe I should'a continued in the trend of wishing Elijah a happy birthday...............oh, alright, I will. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELIJAH WOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {I hope he's seeing this}

Well, Samwise, congratulations! You've guessed one of them! Viggo is one, and then there's another, that no one has guessed yet!

Cheers!
Lyta

Well, Eruwen, you managed to slip that post by me without my noticing! (Actually, I leave my posting screens up for hours sometimes while I work and then I remember to fill them in...what an airhead I am!) You got them both! Of course, Samwise guessed Viggo already as well! And with those correct answers, I take my leave. (My husband delights in saying "I take my leave," just as Theoden does...it is some weird compulsion he has, even when he doesn't intend to go anywhere! And now its rubbing off! )

Cheers!
Lyta (not really taking her leave!)

Luthien_ Tinuviel 01-28-2004 08:53 PM

As to the quote, I don't know, Orlando Bloom?

And who would I be not to continue the trend and wish Elijah a happy birthday? Wouldn't it be so flattering to be able ot go online on your birthday and see it announced on Torn and everyone wishing you a happy one? I'm rather jealous.

I take my leave. (Hey, maybe we could start a new trend! I'll start saying htat all the tme and see. My other "catch-phrases" are getting old.)

zb 01-29-2004 02:30 AM

Sean Astin it is I believe PoisonIvy got in first.
