A pathetic guess

What about symestreem? Her avatar has black background adn the object in the middle of it is white like a sheep and the word "streem" resembles the word "sheep" (erm...) and she's the only one that I can think of that can be described as having a hole in the middle.

Nah, that was far out. The hole in the sheep is a large one, but it still has the spine showing through. Do try again!

Volo 10-08-2007 11:00 AM

Hey, I refuse to believe that it's so hard.

Volo 10-13-2007 01:33 PM

The riddle has nothing to do with avatars. :)

But the clue makes me, for some reason, think of the phrase, 'a wolf in sheep's clothing', so... I'll guess at the Saucepan Man, due to his signature:

"I used to be a Werewolf, but I'm better nowooooooooooooh!"

Volo 10-14-2007 06:11 AM

No. It isn't that complicated.

Volo 10-30-2007 12:06 PM

Aargh! Somebody! Anybody! Free me from this eternal curse!

The answer's in the PT.

Gil-Galad 10-30-2007 01:55 PM

High King Fingolfin?

his avatar of warg and drugs make me think of the outcast black sheep... but i'm wrong

Volo 10-31-2007 09:24 AM

Yup, you are, though it was a good try. The answer is in the PT only.

Thinlómien 10-31-2007 12:41 PM

Now what was that hole in the middle -business about?

The missing e. Ok, it wasn't in the very middle, but close enough.

Gil-Galad 10-31-2007 10:12 PM

Wow okay...

probably really easy...

Away from her throne.

Thinlómien 11-01-2007 01:12 AM

Estelyn?

told you it was too easy... your turn

Thinlómien 11-01-2007 10:03 AM

We could never do without her, she's such an elementary 'downer.

Rune Son of Bjarne 11-23-2007 08:54 PM

I am just trying to get the thread going again.

Mithlawen?

Thinlómien 11-24-2007 11:22 AM

No...

The clue is in the word "elementary"...

Hookbill the Goomba 11-24-2007 12:32 PM

AbercrombieOfRohan because of the Downer Periodic table. But there have been others who have made one and I'm not sure if Abercrombie is female or not...

... Am I on the right lines at least?

You are quite close even though the riddle doesn't have anything to do with making Downer Periodic Tables... Keep guessing.

(And yes, I think Abercrombie is a female.)

Thinlómien 12-03-2007 08:18 AM

Come on, this is an old joke... anyone who's been around long enough should know it and newer members, especially thoise who know anything about science, have very good chances of guessing it...

Elementary? *thinks about members named Hydrogen or Phosphorus* Actually, maybe I am only helping someone else by this, but I really don't have a clue.

You might be because you're very close...

Kath 12-03-2007 10:16 AM

Maybe ... Ka? Is Ka an element?

Thinlómien 12-03-2007 10:18 AM

No, it isn't, but it is (I believe) the proper abbreviation for potassium, which is an element, so you're right. :D Please take the thread.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-03-2007 10:19 AM

I may be close but I don't know. The only ones I can think of is Diamond18, which of course would be only another modification of carbon, but that is probably too far. Another one that I thought of is THE Ka, while K is the mark for... however you call that in English. But that's also quite overstretched, I think.
Otherwise, there is just Boron (88), but he's not a female :)

Oh, shame. X-ed. But never mind, I will leave it here for the potential readers to have fun :D

Kath 12-03-2007 10:23 AM

Nooo potassium is just K I think. But alright, I guess I'll take it!

Erm:
A realtor by two different letters is still a realtor, isn't he?

Um, I might mention that while that makes perfect sense to me, it might not to others!

Thinlómien 12-03-2007 10:24 AM

Bad luck, Legate. But you were right about it being K not Ka, my memory seems to be a bit crap. :D Anyway, this is the thread from which the joke bagan, if you or anyone else is interested.

edit: xed with K(ath)

Thinlómien 01-22-2008 05:42 AM

Errr... what about a hint? :D

Kath 01-22-2008 07:33 AM

Haha, took me 10 minutes to remember what the clue meant! Um, ok, hint - well the two different letters is the key part.

mormegil 01-22-2008 08:51 AM

Alatar?

Kath 01-22-2008 03:05 PM

Oh thank goodness! That did make sense to someone else. :D Quite right morm.

mormegil 01-24-2008 06:59 PM

As always, the biggest problem in getting these correct is thinking up the next clue.

Okay here it goes:

This Downer is a fellow Cougar!

Gwathagor 01-24-2008 10:50 PM

Nimrodel_9.

mormegil 01-24-2008 11:40 PM

Yes, I realized it would be easy but not that easy. Might I ask how you knew?

Gwathagor 01-25-2008 04:15 PM

Magic. And she's from Utah.

Here's the next one:

ala Johnny Appleseed

If you're not familiar with American folklore and legends, you might need to do some research.

Saucepan Man. :smokin:

Gwathagor 01-26-2008 11:24 PM

That's right!

Rikae 01-27-2008 11:37 AM

Ok, I've got one:

Within the conspiracy.
