I guess that depends on where and how you post. Ten posts in the Quiz Room would be little indeed. But ten lenghty posts in the Books...that's a different story.

Morsul the Dark 08-14-2004 10:42 PM

I am mainly in the Quiz room but I am not without thoughts In fact I have my thoughts in many threads across movies and books

Lhunardawen 08-14-2004 10:46 PM

I have noticed, Morsul. You seem to be haunting all parts of the forum!

The Perky Ent 08-14-2004 11:05 PM

It's quite obvious.

Encaitare 08-15-2004 04:26 PM

*pets pretty Alan Lee-illustrated copy of LotR, realizes is in support group, and quickly shoves it under chair out of view*

Hi, my name is Encaitare, and I am a Downsaholic. It all started just by the occasional visit to barrowdowns.com... I didn't even realize there *were* forums... and then I found out. Eventually out of curiosity I checked them out and started posting. It was JUST ONE POST! *bursts into tears* I ONLY TRIED IT ONCE, AND NOW I CAN'T STOP!!!! :p

Heh heh, actually I don't want to be cured. Perky's quiz says I'm not really a hardcore Downsaholic, but from the amount of time I spend here I think I am! Let's just hope I never get into the RPGs, then the obsession will get scary. I'm shirking doing AP American history assignments right now, and the Downs are infinitely more fun. But if the Downs are like a drug, can one be considered a Downs-dealer? Because I know I've said to my friends, "Hey... why dontcha go make an account on the Barrow Downs? Huh? *nudge nudge*"

That just brings to mind a funny image of me in a trenchcoat and a computer in a dark alley, luring unsuspecting LotR fans to their demise... cackle cackle :p

NightKnight 08-15-2004 05:09 PM

Hello, my name is NightKnight, and I'm a 'Downs-a-holic.

Well, lets see... It started out almost a year ago. By then I had known the site for some time, mostly for the name-generators and the quizzes. But then I figured where the quizzes actually came from, so I joined the Forum. On the first day I posted like 15 posts in the Quiz Room, and I never left it, even if I occasionally post here or (more commonly) in the Books forum.

I'm pretty sure I have Quiz Roomitis. Maybe also a slight Silmariliapox, since I know most of the story and almost all the names by heart, and once told a friend of the creation of Arda and the following stuff. It took about an hour of constant speaking, and I usually don't speak that much. ;)

Morsul the Dark 08-16-2004 12:16 AM

DOnt worry night I myself post about 20 times on my first day in fact until my computer broke down I had an average of 17 posts per day

No I must climb to reclaim this sad pathetic number

I think as long as you post less than me you've got a chance of recovery

NightKnight 08-16-2004 03:24 AM

And what if I don't want to recover? ;)

The Perky Ent 08-16-2004 02:54 PM

Who would? Being a downsaholic is a good thing! I'm proud to be one. The only bad thing about being a downsaholic is having a serious overdose and you have to get called in for a check-up with the Barrow-Wight.

THE Ka 08-16-2004 06:29 PM

what's wrong with being among the many (or few who can call themselves) Downsaholics, it's like one of those diseases that can effect anyone, either that or similar to how pink eye is spread... yes! i've contracted the Barrowumius Downaholic disease! Is there really any cure for us? :p

Morsul the Dark 08-16-2004 06:37 PM

this site is our precious we needs it we wants it we dont wants to destroy it

no bother fighting it

Morsul the Dark 08-20-2004 02:55 AM

Being the worst of them all.....

Yesterday morning I woke up to find my computer acting cuckoo I had to open all threads and pages in new windows and of course you cant post a reply like this so of course i began to panic luckily it was only bad weather messing up my computer and now i have it back but obviously I had suffered a bad case of Downs Withdrawal

Saraphim 08-20-2004 03:52 PM

Bad weather affecting your obsession too, eh Morsul? A few days ago, I was hit by a particularly feirce storm that knocked out my power and then my internet for more than twnty-four hours.

That is severe Downs Withdrawl.

I couldn't go on the 'Downs for a month because I was on vacation and my dad's laptop wouldn't connect. Twas horrible. I'm still scarred.

Morsul the Dark 08-20-2004 05:43 PM

I had a month's absense as well, I was however fortunate that I was still not an extreme downer at the time I was still fairly new at the time

Encaitare 08-20-2004 06:18 PM

You know what? I actually don't think I'm a hopeless case. If I had to go for a month I'd go insane, but I just went four days without the Downs and didn't have a hernia or anything. Sure, I wondered what was going on, what I was missing, but I was having a spiffy time on vacation so I wasn't too bothered. (Of course, the fact that I saw the Lord of the Rings exhibit at a museum may have served to distract me ;))

The Perky Ent 08-20-2004 06:18 PM

Speaking of bad weather, theres a large hurricane comming to my down, but hopefully it won't effect my internet time!

elronds_daughter 08-25-2004 11:25 AM

To get back on topic.........

HELP!!! I've been away for only three days, and I already feel out of it! I've just been back to my regular haunts, and I've found that I've missed quite a lot! I mean, some people have new avatars (Morsul the Dark and Feanor of the Peredhil, most notably.) I've just missed out on a lot.

BUT! I've come to a decision.....

I'M NEVER LEAVING AGAIN!

Gil-Galad 08-25-2004 01:56 PM

Don't forget me!!!

Encaitare 08-25-2004 03:58 PM

Yeah, me too.. I like this new avvie, though, it's somewhat disturbing.

It is strange to see people changing their avatars, though. Morsul is no longer a giant M.

I know that feeling elronds_daughter -- I've been gone for a week since I started posting again yesterday. Just keep track of your posts (like in your profile) and I'm sure you'll get back into your momentum ;)

The Perky Ent 08-25-2004 04:41 PM

Yes, if you don't keep up, you loose track ;)

Lhunardawen 08-26-2004 12:02 AM

And once you lose track, it would be hard to keep up. I can attest to that.

yes, yes, Gil-galad. But you changed yours before I left. But I do like your new avvie. Kind of miss Strong Bad as his video game character, but Trogdor is very cool.

very true. I've gotten that feeling before. A lot.

The Perky Ent 08-26-2004 06:34 PM

Woah! elronds_daughter, I just realized what your avatar was! I love that movie! The pirates who don't do anything! :D You just made my day!

elronds_daughter 09-05-2004 09:04 AM

Dude, it took you that long? I've only had it since day one! well, maybe it was day 5. but whatever. Glad you like it.

Mithhie

The Perky Ent 09-05-2004 11:52 AM

Yes, I know I'm that slow!

elronds_daughter 09-05-2004 06:07 PM

Pity.

just a quick question, Perky, what's up with your sig? i don't understand it. explanation? :) (hopeful smile)

The Perky Ent 09-05-2004 06:54 PM

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Watch it! Classic movie!

Pyroclastic 09-10-2004 07:58 PM

Time Well Spent

You know you're a Downsaholic when you spend as much time as I did finding, modifying, resizing, and uploading an Avatar. I think the work was worth it, don't you? I put at least ten hours into my baby, Mt. Doom. We're such good friends now... Also, check out my new sig! Have you ever seen the like of it?

Flames for all! ~Pyro~

InklingElf 09-11-2004 12:30 AM

Yes it's the 'school' excuse

Chem...is....blocking....my....brain.
Espanol....tambien....
and so on and so forth...

I'm afraid my Downsaholic meter is going down REAL FAST. Is that good or bad? Although my social life has once again started ticking as fast as the odometer this Barrow is a part of me

The Perky Ent 09-11-2004 08:56 AM

Actually, I think I'm slowly getting off of the Quiz Room :D My hand-book is working!

yeah, school will do that to you. Fortunately for myself, I'm homeschooled, so I don't have loads and loads of homework (yay!), and can still busy myself around the 'Downs.:D

Gil-Galad 09-11-2004 08:59 PM

i remember when i took like 2 months off of computer stuff... nil, NK, Perky and a whole bunch more got ahead of me in posts...

The Perky Ent 09-12-2004 03:54 PM

Uh...I've always been ahead of you in posts...

Gil-Galad 09-12-2004 08:32 PM

no you haven't, i remember when i was like 100 ahead of you but then i stopped posting adn you jumped ahead... if you still don't beleive that then look at our join dates, fed 03, dec 03...

NightKnight 09-13-2004 12:15 AM

Gil-Galad, I think you were at around 6-700 when I joined. :D And Perks, you passed me when I was on vacation, you bugger. :p

Gil-Galad 09-13-2004 07:24 AM

i agree with Nightknight, if i didn't go on absent i might be 3000 or so...

NightKnight 09-13-2004 11:53 AM

Nah, not in 2 months... 1,800 perhaps...

InklingElf 09-13-2004 06:05 PM

The 3 people I know who went into an extreme posting phase during the summer were Perky, Morsul (where is he anyway?), and of course Gil.

..........

Can you believe i´m still in the 400s!
