D it is! :)

Your turn!

ElentariGreenleaf 04-18-2007 11:54 AM

Wow... My thread lasted this long? Nice ^_^

I wont continue it though because anything I post'll be way too easy for you guys because I haven't read LotR in ages.

Thinlómien 09-28-2007 03:18 PM

Easy one to get this going...

Is Rhosgobel:
A) a warlord serving the Witch-King of Angmar?
B) Radagast's home?
C) the Elvish name of Skinbark?
D) a river in Dunland?

Legate of Amon Lanc 09-29-2007 02:59 AM

B) is correct, of course. But I don't deny that D) or even more A) would be very interesting answers as well (meaning it would be fantastic if they were right :) )

Thinlómien 09-29-2007 09:01 AM

Well, I don't know what is so particularly fascinating about rivers in Dunland :p, but anyway, the thread is yours as you're obviously correct. :D

You know, from certain time I realized that all the places in Enedwaith, Minhiriath and Dunland are so mysterious that any information about them would be certainly interesting. And we don't know how the Dunnish names sounded like; so maybe something like Rhosgobel would be possible. The Witch-King's lieutenant was a better idea, though.

Is Adunakhor:

A) a mountain in East Beleriand?
B) the sword of Thingol?
C) true name of the Eight Ringwraith?
D) a Númenorean king?

The Might 09-29-2007 11:32 AM

Even without checking it in the book, you can notice it sounds Numenorean.

So D.

Definitely not C cause his name is Carl.

Legate of Amon Lanc 09-29-2007 11:53 AM

Okay, whatever. Please continue.

Thinlómien 12-03-2007 08:24 AM

Another poke to The Might... :)

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-05-2007 10:07 AM

Maybe he doesn't hear well enough.

MIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!!!

The Might 12-05-2007 10:20 AM

Ah, sorry!

Well...I find this game too easy, anyway at least as long as Legate is around, but still:

Carl isn't the Nazgul, but actually he is a Hobbit from the family:

A. Burrows
B. Bolger
C. Proudfoot
D. Cotton

Thinlómien 12-05-2007 11:39 AM

You two really make me laugh... :D

Cotton?

The Might 12-05-2007 12:42 PM

Yep. indeed some distant relative of Rosie.

Thinlómien 12-05-2007 05:21 PM

Soronto

A) Fëanor's servant
B) Saeros's brother
C) Aldarion's nephew
D) Mardil's son

Nerwen 12-05-2007 09:27 PM

I'm guessing C) Aldarion's nephew.

Thinlómien 12-06-2007 07:13 AM

Good guess. The thread is yours. :D

Nerwen 12-06-2007 09:18 AM

Angrim was:

A) A fortress in Gondor.
B) The third son of Finarfin.
C) Gorlim's father.
D) The knife used by Beren to cut the Silmaril from Morgoth's crown.

Thinlómien 12-06-2007 09:21 AM

I'm guessing... D?

Nerwen 12-06-2007 09:30 AM

Wrong!:D

Groin Redbeard 12-06-2007 12:33 PM

Is the answer C: Gorlim's father?

The Might 12-06-2007 03:59 PM

I'll got with the knife.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-06-2007 04:20 PM

*a whisper in the wind* ...That was Angrist. I believe Groin is right. ...

:D

Nerwen 12-06-2007 07:34 PM

Gorlim's father it is. Please take the thread, Groin.:)

Groin Redbeard 12-06-2007 08:18 PM

Yipee, I did it!:D

This person fought in the Battle of the Five Armies and the Battle of the Dale. Who was it?

A. Azog
B. Dain II Ironfoot
C. King Brand
D. King Thranduil

Good luck!:)

Nerwen 12-07-2007 03:22 AM

B) Dain II Ironfoot.

Groin Redbeard 12-07-2007 08:42 AM

Excellent, the thread's yours.

Nerwen 12-07-2007 09:54 AM

Nóm is one of the names of:

A) A Vala.
B) An Elven king.
C) A dwarf who accompanied Balin to Moria.
D) A river in Ithilien.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 10:11 AM

I say B), it was the name of Finrod (and some other elves in general).

Nerwen 12-07-2007 10:15 AM

Yes, it's Finrod. And the "Nómin" were the Noldor– this is meant to be the origin of "gnome".:D

Your turn.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 10:22 AM

The Oghor-hai were:

A) A kind of big Orcs
B) A kind of small Men
C) A kind of clever Trolls
D) A kind of stupid Elves

Nerwen 12-07-2007 10:26 AM

I'm guessing B).

Edit: adding to that, I think it's the Black Speech name for the Drúedain.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 10:29 AM

Indeed, it was an Orc word for the Drúedain. Your turn.

Nerwen 12-07-2007 10:42 AM

Salmar was:

A) A bay on the coast of Dol Amroth.
B) A member of the Took Family.
C) A Maia.
D) A city in Númenor.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 10:44 AM

Hmmm... that's very tricky.

I would say, C?

Nerwen 12-07-2007 10:49 AM

And you'd be right. :)

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 11:18 AM

Yes, I wasn't sure whether it isn't a Took after all, because I don't know the English names of the Hobbits. (So you now know my weakness.) I could have added he's the maia of Ulmo (now that I know I was right I can say that with certainty).

Okay... what about this:

Shathur is:

A) Name of one of the Orcs who died in Cirith Ungol
B) Orcish word for "old man"
C) Adunaic name of one of Aldarion's ships
D) A Dwarven name for a peak in the Misty Mountains

Groin Redbeard 12-07-2007 03:03 PM

The word sounds to nice to be Orcish and dosen't sound like Khuzadul. Is it C?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 03:18 PM

Nope, it isn't C. :)

Nerwen 12-07-2007 08:37 PM

How about A)?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-08-2007 05:17 AM

Not even A) :)

In fact I am content, 50% of the answers were wrong, which in a question like that means a lot. :)
