I love your signature, Bragolandune. That's hilarious!

Ahhh yes, an umbrella.
I wasn't thinking along the lines of things not usually associated with fireplaces. Oh well, at least I've gotten one right

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-30-2002 09:21 AM

OK, I have a couple new ones... I put more than one because they are easy:

"What is dark but made out of light?"

"The Moon is my father,
the Sea is my mother;
I have a million brothers,
I die when I reach land."

piosenniel 04-30-2002 10:32 AM

is the first a shadow?

is the second waves?

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-30-2002 12:40 PM

Yes and yes!

I'm running out of riddles, I am looking on the internet for some now. Ya know, there aren't many riddle sites out there.
I think I shall start creating my own

Starbreeze 04-30-2002 12:52 PM

Wow, I stayed away for too long. I missed a whole riddle!
Probably just as well, I can't solve them to save my life!

Susan Delgado 04-30-2002 12:55 PM

Your turn, piosennial

Susan Delgado 05-01-2002 02:47 AM

Quote:

"Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup."
That's from Dealing with Dragons, isn't it? I haven't read it, but I have a friend who used to say that all the time.

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-01-2002 12:57 PM

OK, I have a new one...

"I cannot fly, yet I have wings.
I can make you laugh, cry, or even sing.
Sometimes I am clothed and other times naked.
My purpose is to let your senses awaken."

and another...

"I am tall, short, fat, thin;
I may keep you out
Or I may keep you in."

I made both of these up, so hopefully they are not too terrible

Starbreeze 05-01-2002 01:09 PM

Tigerlily, is the second one a keyhole?

I have one that I made up.

First is last
And last is first
Start is end
And end is start.

Bragolandune 05-01-2002 02:03 PM

I'm not really sure where this quote came from, i found it through a quotes website. Thanks for the compliments on it though

Tigerlily, is the first one an imagination? or maybe a dream?

Susan Delgado 05-01-2002 04:43 PM

Is the first emotion, Tigerlily?
I agree with Starbreeze about the second maybe being a keyhole. That, or a door.

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-01-2002 06:39 PM

Starbreeze and Susan... the answer I have is not a keyhole, but that also works very well. You are on the right track

Bragolandune... the first one is neither. It is an actualy physical object. Those are both good answers, though.

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-01-2002 06:40 PM

Starbreeze, is the answer to yours a circle?
Or maybe the Round Table

piosenniel 05-02-2002 01:55 AM

and another...

tigerlilly - is the first one imagination? is the second one a gate?

i'm tired and going to bed - here's an old question - how do you keep a fish from smelling?

piosenniel 05-02-2002 02:01 AM

here's another silly question:
(in case you should find yourself elvishly standing by the sea)

why can you never go hungry at the beach?

(i can hear even gollum groaning at this one!)

Frodo Baggins 05-02-2002 11:09 AM

I have a rather corny riddle that I made up myself:

What is there, but then is not
Is always chased but can't be caught
Born of wind and water used for cleaning
Holds a rainbow, though not raining.

Starbreeze 05-02-2002 12:49 PM

Yep, it is a circle.

It's not a keyhole? Oh, don't know then, I'm really not very good at this.

Bragolandune 05-02-2002 03:24 PM

Tigerlily, my mom thinks the answer to your first one is an entertainer..is she on the right track?

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-02-2002 09:40 PM

Bragolandune - you are the closest. The answer is not alive, but can be brought to life (if you get what I mean).

piosenniel - you are very close with gate.

Starbreeze, you are good. You've gotten more right than I have.

Also, to keep a fish from smelling you hold its nose!

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-02-2002 09:41 PM

Frodo, is the answer to yours a wave?

Susan Delgado 05-03-2002 12:25 PM

Tigerlily, is your first music? And your second a fence?
Frodo, is yours a cloud?

Bragolandune 05-03-2002 01:08 PM

Tigerlily, is it a puppet?

Susan Delgado 05-05-2002 10:03 AM

Tigerlily? Frodo? Anyone there?

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-05-2002 11:55 AM

Sorry I haven't been here in a while, I have been really sick

Anyways - Susan, the answer to the second one is indeed a fence!
The answer to the first one is not music, but music can be part of it. Do you want a hint???

piosenniel 05-05-2002 12:15 PM

yessss, tigerlilly - a hint, we wants it!!!

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-05-2002 12:22 PM

OK, a hint....
Quote:

"I cannot fly, yet I have wings.
I can make you laugh, cry, or even sing.
Sometimes I am clothed and other times naked.
My purpose is to let your senses awaken."
Well, it is a physical object, as I have said earlier, I think. Ummm... if I give too good of a hint I will give it away. Let's say that it is usually very large, but it can also be very small, depending on where it is. Geez, now I am talking in riddles.
If no one gets it soon I will give a big hint!

Gimli Son Of Gloin 05-05-2002 12:31 PM

Your conscience?

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-05-2002 12:33 PM

Nope, it's not that either.
I guess I thought it was easy to answer because it has to do with my major.

Bragolandune 05-05-2002 01:22 PM

i'll just say my guess again..is it a puppet?

Bragolandune 05-05-2002 01:25 PM

or maybe a theatre?

Frodo Baggins 05-05-2002 03:34 PM

Sorry, I forgot I posted a riddle. You all are really close but not close enough. What do you usually put in water to make it clean better? And, when that sort of water is combined with a puff of air, what results?

Frodo Baggins 05-05-2002 03:35 PM

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-06-2002 05:06 PM

Bragolandune - it is not a puppet
The answer of "a theatre" is sooooooo close, it is something in the theatre (seeing as how a theatre means the lobby, seats and everything). You are so close the water is boiling!

Susan Delgado 05-06-2002 06:56 PM

Ah, good, I'm in theater

actor?
set?
booth?
sound equipment?
lights?
backstage techs? (I know this isn't it, but I had to say it. It's what I do in the productions )
something else that I didn't guess?

Hey, this was my 200th post! yay!

Susan, everything you listed can be part of it (the answer was even in one of your replies, just not by itself).

Susan Delgado 05-07-2002 01:54 AM

A movie?

Lady_Báin 05-07-2002 07:37 AM

aha!! tigerlily yours is a stage (maybe?) its the only thing that susan did not mention

Lady_Báin 05-07-2002 07:41 AM

Frodo Baggins 05-07-2002 08:49 AM

Hooray for Lady Bain!!! Yes, the answer is Bubbles.
