...Cleo merited...

Eomer?

Nuranar 02-21-2003 11:48 PM

Yes ma'am. Your turn!

Annunfuiniel 02-22-2003 12:10 AM

Oh yeah, here we go again:

"If you're lost in Golden Forests, you have no need to feel blue."

lost in Golden

Sting!

LePetitChoux 02-23-2003 05:32 AM

So, am I right? Am I?

Annunfuiniel 02-23-2003 06:42 AM

Yes indeed you are! Please carry on.

LePetitChoux 02-23-2003 09:37 AM

As much as I enjoy the films, I also wish that they'd put in the characters they skipped, like Glorfindel, Déagol, Lumpkin (Fatty I mean), Goldberry etc. But, as people with bad knowledge of french might have said in the 2nd world war, "Ah non! Il y a un bomb à d'île de pâques!" ("Oh no, there is a bomb on Easter Island!")

Annunfuiniel 02-23-2003 10:15 AM

My first reaction to this one:
But I think I got it!

...un bomb à d'île...

Bombadil!

LePetitChoux 02-23-2003 10:23 AM

Yes. You would have gotten extra marks by getting both hidden words...

Annunfuiniel 02-23-2003 10:41 AM

Oh, it didn't even cross my mind there might be another word hidden! But now that you said it I had to take a closer look on your sentences. Does the 2nd word you're looking happen to be Ea (Eä)? In: ...Easter Island...

LePetitChoux 02-23-2003 10:43 AM

Nope

Annunfuiniel 02-23-2003 10:55 AM

Ok, now this is really starting to bug me!
Is it Gollum then, as in ...Deagol, Lumpkin...

LePetitChoux 02-23-2003 12:03 PM

Yes!

Annunfuiniel 02-23-2003 12:34 PM

Yippee, yahoo!!
(*people in the house: )

Back to business:

Something that is pure goodness in the beginning cannot be changed. Nothing will turn it bad.

LePetitChoux 02-23-2003 02:19 PM

*bows*
Wow, I really have no idea...
Unless it is

...is pure...
Spur?

Annunfuiniel 02-23-2003 10:25 PM

Nope, sorry.
This is a bit different from the earlier ones. The word and the clue to it are in the first sentence and the second tells you how to find it.
Does this help at all?

Diamond18 02-23-2003 11:49 PM

This is a shot in the dark, but I'm going to guess that its "Eru", because "Nothing will turn it bad" indicates that the word is turned around. Also, Eru is pure goodness and never changes, right?

Annunfuiniel 02-23-2003 11:56 PM

You're absolutely right! So go ahead, Diamond18.

Diamond18 02-24-2003 12:45 AM

Everyone loves Varda, Elbereth, Snow-white... Or at least, all those of the firstborn.

Annunfuiniel 02-24-2003 02:22 AM

I can't think of anything but 'elves' in
"Everyone loves Varda..." I left the 'o' out as you left the 7 dwarves (Snow-white and the...). Quite far fetched but I tried my best.

alaklondewen 02-24-2003 07:57 AM

I think it is ELVES too. Except from a different place.

Everyone loves Varda, Elbereth, Snow-white...

ELVES... The 'firstborn' refers to the first letters.

Annunfuiniel 02-24-2003 08:28 AM

Oh yeah, guess who feels a bit stupid now...
Well at least I got the right word. But you're the one who deserves the credit for the right answer, alaklondewen, that is when Diamond confirms our guesses.

Diamond18 02-24-2003 03:18 PM

Yep, it's "Elves", and alaklondewen guessed right about the "firstborn" part. So it's your turn.

alaklondewen 02-28-2003 10:10 AM

Sorry about the delay.

Come here, Boromir! I need you to open this jar of pickles.

The Saucepan Man 02-28-2003 10:23 AM

Come here, Boromir! I need you to open this jar of pickles.

Erebor

alaklondewen 02-28-2003 11:59 AM

Yes. I thought it would be a bit easy. Your turn.

The Saucepan Man 02-28-2003 07:17 PM

OK, I think this is probably pretty easy too, but here it is:

Small ornaments may be found in the Elven realm.

Durelin 02-28-2003 07:20 PM

mallorn?

Small ornaments.

The Saucepan Man 02-28-2003 08:09 PM

Yes, thought it was fairly easy. But it's late and my brain's tired.

Your turn, I believe ...

Durelin 02-28-2003 08:11 PM

I understand completely. Only way I could've gotten it anyway.

Biggest elephant alive.

Easy too, I believe.

The Saucepan Man 02-28-2003 08:49 PM

Biggeest elphant alive

Estel, meaning hope (and a former name of Aragorn, I believe).

Durelin 03-04-2003 05:20 PM

Yep! Omen i-Estel Edain, u-chebin estel anim. Aragorn's mother, Gilraen said this, meaning: "I gave Hope to the Dunedain, I have kept no hope for myself." Sadness.

Your turn Saucepan Man!

The Saucepan Man 03-05-2003 08:06 AM

Ta very much.

How could Shelob utter Burrahobbit's name, when She has never even visited the Barrow Downs, let alone posted on a topic here?

... And the answer's not Shelob!

alaklondewen 03-05-2003 08:20 AM

Shelob utter Burrahobbit's

Butterbur!

The Saucepan Man 03-05-2003 08:36 AM

No, it was Burrahobbit ...

... Just kidding, it was indeed good old Barliman.

alaklondewen 03-05-2003 08:07 PM

"Carpet every loft, every boring old room, now," said the silver haired man whose first name was Birch.

Diamond18 03-05-2003 10:17 PM

...every boring old room...

Ingold.

Silmarien 03-05-2003 10:59 PM

Celeborn

Carpet every loft, every boring old room, now

alaklondewen 03-06-2003 05:43 AM

Sorry, Diamond, Ingold was unintentional. The right answer was Celeborn. I thought "silver-haired" and "birch" (Tree-of-Silver) would be a clue.

Silmarien, the turn is yours.

Silmarien 03-06-2003 09:23 PM
