NZ Ringbearer, you are correct, your turn to ask a question.

Dondagnirion, please try and refrain from "no point" posts such as your last one, they really don't add to the game.

NZ Ringbearer 01-11-2003 02:21 AM

Thanks. Now, all you Quotesters...

Quote:

'Much must be risked in war'
Who was that?

Manardariel 01-11-2003 10:17 AM

Gandalf, to King Theoden in Edoras, trying to convince him to go to war.

NZ Ringbearer 01-11-2003 04:01 PM

Nope.....

HINT: its in ROTK

Legolas 01-11-2003 11:50 PM

Eh...it shouldn't be from The Return of the King.

2nd/3rd books = second half of The Fellowship of the Ring and first half of The Two Towers.

The Lord of the Rings is split up into six books...

Beren87 01-12-2003 12:27 AM

Nein Legolas, the game has been played as TTT and Rotk, (the second third full books).

hobbitlass 01-12-2003 06:55 AM

Wait, I too, thought it to be last half of Fellowship and first half of Two Towers.

Manardariel 01-12-2003 12:03 PM

So did I.... about the qoute, is Gandalf correct? Because if heīs not speaking to Theoden, maybe itīs Denethor?

Beren87 01-12-2003 12:23 PM

Hmm, go back and read the previous posts of this topic, especially those done by Mat and Bruce and you will find quote from Rotk. So the second and third books are the actual "books" not the subdivisions.

NZ Ringbearer 01-12-2003 05:02 PM

Its not GANDALF who's speaking...

Finiel 01-12-2003 07:06 PM

Aragorn to Prince Imrahil

or

Gandalf to Aragorn

Beren87 01-12-2003 07:30 PM

Denethor to the Prince and Faramir talking about not being able to cover all flanks.

NZ Ringbearer 01-12-2003 11:29 PM

Nice one, Beren87!!!

Your turn...

Beren87 01-12-2003 11:43 PM

Allritey then:

Quote:

It sounds very right and proper

NZ Ringbearer 01-13-2003 03:04 AM

I'm just guessing...Pippin?

Beren87 01-13-2003 03:22 PM

Nope, thats not it.

Manardariel 01-13-2003 04:38 PM

It most definatly is a hobbbit... the gaffer maybe?

Beren87 01-13-2003 04:43 PM

It's not a hobbit as a matter of fact.

Manardariel 01-13-2003 05:06 PM

Oh. Well. *blush*
But it sounds so hobbit-ish......

Beren87 01-13-2003 05:17 PM

Hmm, come to think of it it does sound hobbitish in nature, but it isn't.

Entmoot 01-19-2003 10:56 PM

im guessing maybe treebeard.. but if thats not it would u please give a hint?

Beren87 01-20-2003 12:38 AM

Welcome Entmoot! Quite a good guess, because it is! I'll give it to you this time, but however in the future you must actually find the quote and give enough information in your answer that shows you know who it was said by, to whom, and where.

Entmoot 01-20-2003 03:12 AM

Thankyou Beren87, i apologise and will answer more correctly next time. Here is one.

Mercy, lord!

Pallando B.C 01-20-2003 05:02 AM

Wormtounge, when Theoden banished him from Rohan.

Entmoot 01-20-2003 05:07 AM

Quite right. Well done. Your turn pallando B.C

Pallando B.C 01-21-2003 04:34 AM

Let's see...

Haven't you any lock-ups down below?

Russandol 01-21-2003 07:45 AM

For some reason I was poring through ROTK thinking it was a ruffianly sounding quote

.... and in a moment of clarity I remembered it's actually Gorbag to Shagrat regarding their prisoner.

Aratlithiel 01-21-2003 08:06 AM

Gorbag to Shagrat discussing where they were going to put a captured Frodo. I'd have to look it up, but I'm pretty sure it's in The Choices of Master Samwise.

Aratlithiel 01-21-2003 08:09 AM

Whoops, Russandol, didn't mean to step on your toes. I'm still on my first cup of coffee & missed your second sentence. Need those A Clockwork Orange-style eyelid propper-uppers.

Pallando B.C 01-21-2003 07:01 PM

Sorry, Aratlithiel but I will take Russandol's answer, since he was first.

Russandol 01-22-2003 11:51 AM

Thanks Pallando.

Thank God you did, eleanor! This one's been driving me crazy since yesterday!!

Russandol 01-23-2003 03:26 PM

See Eleanor, you perform a valuable service for others when you answer these questions

Your turn to torment .....

eleanor_niphredil 01-24-2003 11:15 AM

And torment I will.

"make it short, and then you wont have to cut it short before you use it"

Aratlithiel 01-24-2003 11:46 AM

Sam quoting The Gaffer to Frodo RE: naming his first-born - The Grey Havens.

eleanor_niphredil 01-24-2003 11:47 AM

Right you are. Continue.

Aratlithiel 01-24-2003 02:49 PM

This should be an easy one...

Quote:

We musn't stand here. Make haste!

Russandol 01-24-2003 04:21 PM

Monsieur Smeagol to Monsieur Baggins at the Cross-Roads.

Aratlithiel 01-24-2003 05:40 PM

Oui, oui, Russandol. Your turn, cie vous plez. (Can you tell I wasn't a French major?)
