High Duke 08-31-2002 05:14 AM

Yes.Your turn.

Beren87 08-31-2002 08:42 AM

Who said, "Deep is the Abyss that is spanned Durin's Bridge, and none has measured it.

Lothiriel Silmarien 08-31-2002 08:58 AM

Gimli?

Morgoth Bauglir 08-31-2002 01:33 PM

if gimli isnt right (which it most likely is) it is gandalf.

Beren87 08-31-2002 03:18 PM

Yep, Gimli talking to Gandalf in TTT.
Your turn Lothiriel.

gandalf?

High Duke 09-01-2002 07:02 AM

Imrahil?

Lothiriel Silmarien 09-01-2002 12:05 PM

I made a tiny mistake, the quote is, "But we will speak no more counsels of prudence." I left out that little s after counsel Sorry!

But no, it's not Gandalf or Imrahil.

Morgoth Bauglir 09-01-2002 03:47 PM

Uh............. Elrond?

Lothiriel Silmarien 09-01-2002 06:37 PM

Nope. I never think I'd see the day when I actually posted a quote that stumps both Morgoth and High Duke! (although I hardly call a first or second guess stumping, but let me bask in my glory ) You both usually always get it on the first try though!

Morgoth Bauglir 09-02-2002 10:18 AM

Question: Are we allowed to use the books?

I tried looking a bit, but could not find it. My third (and last) guess would be Aragorn, though i think its not right.

Lothiriel Silmarien 09-02-2002 11:33 AM

Of course you can use the book. Although sometimes I'm stubborn and I don't use the book because I like to see if I can get it. But after I make about a million guesses, I just end up looking in the book! (but sometimes I get it without looking! )

Nope, it's not Aragorn.

High Duke 09-03-2002 05:24 AM

It was Theoden i'm sure.

bombur 09-15-2002 05:35 AM

I dont have the books here, but I'd guess...

Mandos

Thanks for food for thought anyways.

Lothiriel Silmarien 09-15-2002 02:22 PM

High Duke got it! It was Theoden.

TolkienGurl 10-25-2002 12:57 PM

Well, its been way over a month. I'm gonna post:

Quote:

"One that you cannot slay with arrows," said _______.
Who said this and what was the person referring to?

hobbitlass 10-26-2002 04:25 PM

Gandalf said it to Legolas about the "winged messenger", a Nazgul.

TolkienGurl 10-27-2002 08:37 AM

yup. go ahead!

hobbitlass 10-27-2002 08:31 PM

Quote:

The very air seems thick and brown! Do you often have such glooms when the wind is in the East?
Who said it and to whom?

Childlike Empress 10-27-2002 11:40 PM

Sam or Frodo to Faramir while they were in Osgiliath?

Telchar 10-28-2002 02:20 AM

First of all Sam and Frodo was never in Osgiliath with Faramir... Secondly it was Pippin Talking to Beregond

hobbitlass 10-28-2002 03:34 PM

Very good, Telchar, proceed.

Telchar 10-29-2002 02:29 AM

Quote:

Auta i lómë! The night is passing!

Aramacil 10-29-2002 04:16 AM

Quote:

The day has come! Behold, people of the Eldar and Fathers of Men, the day has come! And all those who heard his great voice echo in the hills answered crying: "Auta i lome!" ' The night is passing!' And thus began the assault on Morgoth and his vast armies.
Was this Fingon?
I remembered this quote because I read it yesterday

Aramacil 10-29-2002 01:08 PM

*Slaps his forehead*
Oooh yes it’s not Fingon, it are all the people/elves that are assembled there for the battle.

What a dumb mistake.

Aramacil 11-13-2002 02:02 PM

It's been a while now, and I am pretty sure I'm right so I'll continue.

Aramacil 11-14-2002 01:53 PM

No, you are wrong again, I'll give you a little hint:
It's not Galadriel or Gandalf

Galadel Vinorel 11-14-2002 07:35 PM

Was it Frodo?

Aramacil 11-15-2002 09:26 AM

Yes, it was Frodo!
Quote:

The eyes were hollow and the carven beard was broken, but about the high stern forehead there was a coronal of silver and gold. A trailing plant with flowers like small white stars had bound itself across the brows as if in reverence for the fallen king, and in the crevices of his stony hair yellow stonecrop gleamed.
"They cannot conquer for ever!" said Frodo. And then suddenly the brief glimpse was gone. The Sun dipped and vanished, and as if at the shuttering of a lamp, black night fell.
