I have an idea!We could put it in a small town like Rodney(it is right beside Lake Eerie and Michagen.[Hope I spelled it right])and that's where I'm from but I moved to St.Thomas. It's got this huge park and an old lot that my cousin(who is Wil Smith.Raise the roof)owns and we could party there!Does anyone know where St.Thomas is?If you do,you might know where West lorne is,which is right beside Rodney. I know, sorry. (Actually, not really but if I say that, I will get in even more trouble. Opps)

Well, I will see YOU tomorrow, probebly, unless I die, which could happen.

I'm game. It'll be fun methinks.

Mithadan 02-19-2003 09:16 AM

BW, Sharku, Mr Underhill and I have been monitoring this thread and others like it. While we understand why members would want to meet one another, we are a bit concerned and wish to emphasize that care must be taken if you choose to arrange such a meeting.

First, the Barrow-Downs itself is not involved in organizing such meetings and does not intend to be in the future. These meetings are arranged by individuals or groups of individuals and we take no responsibility for the outcome. The decision to meet is made by individual members at their own risk. We are not providing transportation, accomodations or security and are not involved in the choice of locale or the agenda.

If you choose to meet, individually or in groups, please think it through, plan carefully and be careful! Meet in public with other persons present. Make sure that others know where you are going and who you are meeting. Think twice before providing personal information to other members such as e-mail addresses, telephone numbers or home addresses and do not send anyone money or credit card information.

We're sorry to throw a wet blanket over this but we are concerned about peoples' safety and want to emphasize that this is not an "official", sanctioned event sponsored by the Barrow-Downs. If you choose to meet, good luck and we hope that you enjoy yourselves. But please be careful!

Id like to say that Im a Canadian B-Der and proud of it! But also that it really doesn't matter where your from, the best part about this place is meeting people from other countries!

amyrlis 02-21-2003 03:37 PM

Oh Mithadan! Once a lawyer, always a lawyer I guess! Good advice though.

I made my first ever trip across the border to Canada this past weekend. Who-ya it's cold up there! Almost ghost-town-like because of it. Better wait until Spring to arrange a get-together so people (well, wimps like me) will actually be willing to leave their houses!

gralin musicteeth 03-03-2003 06:19 AM

I guess there's no other Newfies here is there? oh well. Who wants to go to Montreal?

Galadrie1 03-03-2003 06:05 PM

I do!

gralin musicteeth 03-05-2003 04:56 PM

YAY! take me with you...

Bęthberry 03-12-2003 01:53 PM

Bethberry, with a modest degree of smug satisfaction, notes the quite credible command of good English on the Canadian Barrow Downers thread.

Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia! Wow! Excitement! I just love living here..

A Canadian convention would be really cool..but I am saving all my money to go to Germany in the summer.. Meh! I can pull something together.

Nice to see many Canadians here!

Lindril Arvilya 03-16-2003 08:35 PM

Hello, all! Yes, I too am a Canadian Barrow-Downer.
I'm up two hours north of Toronto, around Collingwood, the skiing place. (I was in Toronto yesterday for an audition, though, and I'll be living there next year if I get accepted. Hopefully either George Brown or Humber colleges.)
I was priviledged to see both of the exhibits in Toronto: The Fellowship one at Casa Loma, and TTT at the ROM. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this meeting thing then, or I would have tried to help out with the organizing.
I went in costume with one of my friends, too! But the lines were too long for me to get into the gift shop. We looked from a distance.
Nice to see a few Torontonians on here though. And did someone say they were from Sydney? I went there once.

Gorwingel 03-16-2003 08:49 PM

I am Not Canadian, but I just want to say is that I love Canada. It is great, the people are so nice, and it is such a beautiful country. Even though I am from the US I have been all over the Country. I only live about 4 hours from Vancouver B.C. and it is one of my favorite cities in the entire world
So it is great to see all these Canadians, because you are all very nice, wonderful people.

Arwen Imladris 03-17-2003 02:57 PM

Gee, thanks Gorwingel! *Arwen Imladris blushes* I think that our neighbors to the south are quite nice as well!

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 03-17-2003 04:39 PM

Aww, thanks Gorwingel! You deserve a special shoulder-pat.

Two hours east of Winnipeg. So so small, I hate my town. Can you believe it: only two LotR freaks in my class! And I am one of them!

Rosseiliantiel 03-18-2003 11:20 AM

Gorwingel has made me happy. This is a rare occurence. I am happy!

Gorwingel 03-18-2003 11:40 PM

Thanks, I hope to maybe go up there for a small trip in the summer. I have been to so many places (New York, Paris, Rome, London...) and Vancouver (or Victoria) is one of the places that I would actually consider moving too (Vancouver has the most amazing Park I have ever been too, and the city is so wonderful to walk around and everything) Though every time I have ever went there it rained. I proudly wear my Roots team Canada shirt many times throughout the year.
I have also visited the east part of the country, which is enjoyable, but different. Though I think I would need to take a longer there to experience it more.

Beregond 03-19-2003 08:08 AM

Just stay away from our politicians!

Arwen Imladris 07-01-2003 01:47 PM

<font color=red>Happy Birthday Canada!

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 07-01-2003 02:04 PM

Ah! Finally! A Canadian BD'ers thread!!
*kisses computer*
Happy Canada Day, eh!

A convention sounds lovely!

[EDIT]: I posted here before?! Since when? Oh, I remember now...

I don't live in Canada , but I DO live in northern US. Alaska, actually. But my dad has been talking about going to Canada sometime soon. I have been to Victoria and Vancouver before though, and I think Canada is really awesome. You guys are really lucky you live there.

Toodles.

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 07-31-2003 12:41 PM

Genevieve 08-02-2003 02:02 AM

Nehani 08-02-2003 05:46 PM

Genevieve and I live in the same town (AK). We live very close to BC (Canada). I LOVE Whitehorse, and the Yukon. We do annual roadtrips up there (ravenous skeeters). Well, we'll be going there soon. Does anyone live in Whitehorse, or somewhere in the Yukon?

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I always feel like a hobbit on Thanksgiving -- helping my mom cook a huge dinner, eating a huge dinner, etc.... Ha ha, kids in the US are in school right now.

Esgallhugwen 10-13-2003 02:05 PM

Pumkin pie pumkin pie pumkin pie, I lllooovvveeeee pumkin pie, but we only has one preciousss. Must get ten pies and hoard them yess. ok I'll stop that, Hello fellow Canadians I do not believe I've posted here before, and I just happened to chance upon this thread today because I've finished my other business in the RPG's and other things I'm involved. Wow, well that's all for now I suppose. Just thought I'd say hello and make myself known as a Canadian!!

Ainaserkewen 10-14-2003 05:30 PM

Does anybody here know of any celebrity appearances at our premiers of ROTK?
I know Ian Mckellen was in Vancouver for FOTR and his only complaint was that you can't drink in your hotel rooms here
You know, I'm so jealous. One of my best friends grad-ed last year and now he's moving to New Zealand this month! His exact quote was,
"Woot I'm going to the Shire!"
I hope he gets into the premier and sends me lots of (sob) pictures.

Rosseiliantiel 10-20-2003 06:46 PM

Hello everyone, after a long absence.

I don't really go on the Downs anymore, just dropping by to say 'mae govannen', so:

Mae Govannen.

La.

Ainaserkewen 12-03-2003 02:44 PM

Any Canadian Barrowdownie who lives anywhere near the west coast who has "The new VI" channel, be sure to tune in on Thursday(tomorrow) at 10 pm, they're doing a behind the scenes look at the ROTK movie. Lots of spoilers I'm sure. As well, they're doing some kind of trivia contest on the 10th but you have to live in Victoria. For more info, PM me, and I'll get it to you.
See you on a thread,
bye!

I'm trying to get this thread fairly active again...unless I am the ONLY Canadian left. I think not.

Tell me canadians...who did Trilogy tuesday...how was it? I'm dying to know.

Arwen Imladris 12-19-2003 04:43 PM

No, you are not the only Canadian, don't worry!

I didn't get to go to Trilogy Tuesday, but some people I know that went found that there wasn't a whole lot of people, at least not at the theatre they went to. Aparently ROTK started at 10pm, 2 full hours before it was officially released! They had about 30 minut breaks inbetween each movie, and there were different contests, like one you got a T-shirt if you had the best Nazgul scream!

Valier 12-20-2005 03:45 PM

Saskatchewan! Ha!! you live in an Igloo, eh?
Oh, wait.... I do live in Canada.... hold on, I do live in the praries as well :D Manitoba to be vague enough so that no one will think I'm giving out too much personal information... go Canada! we do rock... specially in -40 degrees weather!

Valier 12-20-2005 04:47 PM

oh howld ownd my tun ist sthuk too igwoo al... lol good to see another priarier. Enjoying the weather are we?

Gil-Galad 12-23-2005 02:26 PM

Calgary is always fun...

cheers as i am a Calgarian and a Canadian

Farael 12-23-2005 03:18 PM

Lovely how you said Calgarian first and then Canadian... you think you're better than us people from the prairie, eh? well, you are probably right  No, darned I've been living here for too long!

I don't know about... wherever in Sask. you live Valier but over here EVERYONE seems to hate this city... then they go ice-skating, or they play hockey, bike around or hike during summer.... and of course, there are a few (admittedly not many, but probably enough) bars and such. I think it's the small town mentality... people want to be in big, busy metropolies rather than easygoing small cities. Personally, I love it here, much better than NYC-sized Buenos Aires.

Disclaimer: My use of the word "eh" pre-dates my immigration to Canada. Eh IS a word and I've been using it since I can recall.

Edit: And to answer Valier's last question, the weather has behaved yesterday and today. It rained!! that's something you don't see very often in December. And today it's zero degrees!!! I couldn't be happyer.
