Pallando B.C 03-18-2003 07:37 PM

Goblins are shorter than Orcs? No, wrong. Ok then, they have different names?

The Saucepan Man 03-18-2003 08:10 PM

From "Riddles in the Dark":

Quote:

"A bit low for goblins, at least for the big ones", thought Bilbo, not knowing that even the big ones, the orcs of the mountains, go along at a great speed stooping low with their hands almost on the ground.
So you are correct, Pallando BC.

Pallando B.C 03-18-2003 08:22 PM

Great!

Who was given a gold writing-set by Bilbo Baggins.

The Saucepan Man 03-18-2003 08:29 PM

Milo Burrows, who never answered letters.

Pallando B.C 03-18-2003 08:39 PM

Yes!

The Saucepan Man 03-18-2003 08:56 PM

What were the names of Otho Sackville-Baggins's parents?

Annunfuiniel 03-19-2003 12:34 AM

Longo Baggins and Camellia Sackville.

The Saucepan Man 03-19-2003 11:01 AM

Spot on, Annunfuiniel.

Annunfuiniel 03-19-2003 11:12 AM

Who "guarded" the crown of Gondor during the time of the ruling stewards?

elven maiden Earwen 03-20-2003 08:56 PM

the stwerds????

Annunfuiniel 03-22-2003 03:22 AM

Nope.

piosenniel 03-22-2003 04:03 AM

The Crown of Gondor was kept in The Houses of the Dead in Rath Dinen in Minas Tirith.

Annunfuiniel 03-22-2003 06:34 AM

That's true, pio. But where there exactly?
It is said in your books so please humour me and find the precise answer.

gilraën 03-22-2003 07:21 AM

Eärnur's tomb?

piosenniel 03-22-2003 05:02 PM

Exact location: It lay upon the lap of King Earnil II in the Houses of the Dead.

Annunfuiniel 03-23-2003 01:04 AM

Yes, King Eärnur left the crown in his father's, King Eärnil's, tomb when he went to face the Lord of Morgul (the Witchking). And there it stayed until King Elessar was crowned, "guarded" by the king, for Eärnur never returned.
Good job, piosenniel, please proceed!

Mauwurz 03-23-2003 08:32 PM

January 25
He(Gandalf) casts downt he Balrog and passes away
February 14
Gandalf reurns to life

The answer I think is 19 days

gilraën 03-24-2003 02:12 AM

By my math I make it 20 days BUT since you posted the right days (Jan 25th to Feb 14th) it's your go now Mauwurz. Well done.

gilraën 04-01-2003 01:08 PM

Bump!

Pallando B.C 04-01-2003 10:35 PM

Instead of posting a one word post like 'bump', you should restart the thread. It has been over 10 days, so you don't have to wait for Mauwurz if you wish to restart this thread. Usually whoever wants to can just restart a thread, but so you get into the habit of things, you should ask the next question Gilraën.

gilraën 04-02-2003 12:32 AM

If it had been 10 days I would have. It was only 8 days but I will ask a question.

Who was the smith that forged Angrist and what other famous blade did he smith?

lathspell 04-02-2003 10:47 AM

The smith was Telchar, dwarven-smith from Nogrod and the other sword was Narsil, in later days Anduril.

lathspell

gilraën 04-02-2003 12:48 PM

Good, your go.

lathspell 04-03-2003 03:13 PM

Thankee!!

Alright, here's the next.

Who filled the Elves with amazement and why?

Beren87 04-03-2003 05:29 PM

That's quite a broad question...

I'll go with Orome on this one, for his sheer splendor at their first sighting of him.

lathspell 04-04-2003 01:40 PM

No, not what I wanted to hear. It's broad, but it's something like a quote... it states (where I got this question) that:.... filled the Elves with amazement because...

Try on

gilraën 04-05-2003 02:53 PM

From Nogrod and Belegost the Naugrim came forth into Beleriand; and the Elves were filled with amazement, for they had believed themselves to be the only living things in Middle-Earth that spoke with words or wrought with hands, and that all others were but birds and beasts. But they could understand no word of the tongue of the Naugrim, which to their ears was cumbrous and unlovely; and few ever of the Eldar have achieved the mastery of it.

Is that what you meant?

lathspell 04-06-2003 09:48 AM

exactly, gilraën! Very good job!

gilraën 04-06-2003 10:52 AM

Here's an easy one.

Beren87 04-06-2003 09:41 PM

From memory, forgive me if I'm wrong.

A constellation formed by the Valar for the Elves' awakening.

elven maiden Earwen 04-06-2003 09:45 PM
