Lady Bain strikes twice! Yes, it is a stage!!!!!

Susan Delgado 05-07-2002 07:02 PM

Ah, a stage, of course....in the place I do theater, there isn't actually a theater; we have to build the stage along with the set for each show. I guess I just think of the stage as part of the set. Good job, Lady Bain

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-07-2002 07:09 PM

I guess a generalized it. A stage can be anywhere someone is performing, as my teacher says.
That's great that you work in the theatre, Susan! I do too, & my mom really enjoys doing props.

Well, I don't have another riddle right now, so someone else can shoot

Susan Delgado 05-07-2002 07:42 PM

I'll go

I run smoother than any rhyme;
I love to fall but cannot climb;
I tremble at each breath of air,
Yet can the heaviest burdens bear.

I'm glad you're in theater too; what do you do? Act? I'm a carpenter, myself. I build the sets and whatnot, but I guess I already said that. Are you doing a show right now? We're doing One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It's such a blast; I love it.

Lady_Báin 05-08-2002 05:26 AM

susan is yours water?

Lady_Báin 05-08-2002 05:35 AM

this really dosen't count as a riddle but i found it in a book.

I'm hunger. I'm thirst. Where i bite, i hold til i die, and after death they must cut my mouthful out of my enemy's body and bury it with me. I can fast a hundred years and not die. I can lie a hundred nights on ice and not freeze. I can drink a river of blood and not burst. Show me your enemies.

I'll give the answer tommorrow
hint: I found it in Prince Caspian

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-08-2002 10:44 AM

I'll have to agree with Lady_Báin about the answer being water, I cannot think of anything better.

Lady_Báin, is the answer to yours a type of weapon???

Susan, I am an actress, though I started out being an artistic designer for sets (which it looks like I may be getting to do this again this summer, Yay!). I am going to be in a show called Simply Vaudeville this summer at a living history museum in MI. I am not done with school yet, so I am not ready to get an agent yet, or anything like that. But it's great fun no matter what you do in theatre!!!!!

Starbreeze 05-08-2002 12:10 PM

You go for it Tigerlily! I'm sure you will be great at what ever you do! As for the riddles, I'm all riddled out. My brain hurts from exams and being incharge of a web page - its very hard work, and I only have 26 members, I can sympathise with the Barrow-wight!

Niere-Teleliniel 05-08-2002 05:54 PM

Could it possibly be a werewolf Lady_Báin?
(Ya'll don't mind me jumpin in, do you? if so, let me know!)

Lady_Báin 05-09-2002 06:00 AM

wowwwwwwwwww how did you guess that Niere!!! I thought no one would ever guess that!!! I am amazed you must have cheated just kidding oh and by the way yes your answer was correct

(did you look in the book or ....okay okay i'll drop it )

your turn

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-09-2002 10:52 AM

Wow, a werewolf!
Starbreeze, Thank you & best wishes on your finals. I just finished mine 2 days ago
Well, I don't currently have a riddle, but as soon as I come up with one I will post it.

Niere-Teleliniel 05-09-2002 03:20 PM

No I didn't cheat! I've read the book and seen the movie tons of times so I just remembered it. I was very happy to see a riddle I actually knew the answer to

Here's one, if anyone's interested:

Riddle me, riddle me rot-tot-tote!
A wee little man in a red red coat!
A staff in his hand, and a stone in his throat;
If you'll tell me this riddle, I'll give you a groat.

Cheesy I know, but I didn't make it up!

Susan Delgado 05-09-2002 04:05 PM

Water it is
The answer to Niere's is probably not Santa....

Here's one that's a little different

My first is in window, but not in pane.
My second's in road, but not in lane.
My third is in oval, but not in round.
My fourth is in hearing, but not in sound.
My whole is known as a sign of peace,
And always wins quick release.

Tigerlily, I tried acting when I was younger and didn't like it; I'm not outgoing enough. But a couple years ago I got into Stagecraft and I really liked it. I don't know if it's something I want to do as a career, but I certainly enjoy it and will keep at it, at least as a hobby.

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-09-2002 10:54 PM

I have no clue on either one!
With these riddles it seems like they hit me right off, or I have to pry and pry to find an answer. Aye me

Niere-Teleliniel 05-10-2002 11:14 AM

Is it a dove Susan?

Lady_Báin 05-10-2002 01:15 PM

oh dear I 'll never guess those

I'll keep trying though

Susan Delgado 05-10-2002 04:39 PM

That's right, a dove. I have more of that sort if anyone is interested.

Niere-Teleliniel 05-10-2002 07:34 PM

Bring 'em on!

(No one answered mine yet!)

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-11-2002 12:27 AM

Could we get a hint, Niere-Teleliniel????

Niere-Teleliniel 05-11-2002 05:04 PM

Okay, I'll be nice!

Hint one: In 'A visit from St Nicholas,' what is Santa's nose compared to?

Hint two: It's from a Beatrix Potter book. (Hehe, those are classics!)

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-11-2002 11:46 PM

A cherry???

Susan Delgado 05-12-2002 03:11 AM

Okey dokey. I'll give a couple because they're easier than other riddles.

1.
My first is in bottle but isn't in milk.
My second's in satin and not in silk.
My third and fourth are both in a pair.
My fifth is in hope and also despair.
My last is in yellow but isn't in pink.
My whole contains liquid for people to drink.

2.
My first is in dog but isn't in cat.
My second's in glove but not in hat.
My third is in flame but not in smoke.
My fourth is in jester but not in joke.
My whole makes no fuss about what it will eat,
And is known to be nimble on its four feet.

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-12-2002 09:48 AM

These riddles confuse me.
The first one makes me think of a bottle of Moutain Dew
The second one sounds like a cat, based by the last two lines.

Niere-Teleliniel 05-12-2002 11:59 AM

I made that too easy Tigerlilly! Yeah, it's a cherry.

A goat perhaps?

Niere-Teleliniel 05-12-2002 03:53 PM

!!!!! I'm so dense! The other riddle is a barrel!!!!

Susan Delgado 05-12-2002 05:27 PM

Both right, Niere! Do you like that kind?

Niere-Teleliniel 05-12-2002 06:56 PM

Yes, but it can take me a while. The barrel one gave me fits! Here's a few for ya'll!

1. "The beginning of eternity
The end of time and space
The beginning of every end,
And the end of every place."

2. "I never was, am always to be,
No one ever saw me, nor ever will
And yet I am the confidence of all
To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball."

3."There was a green house.
Inside the green house there was a white house
Inside the white house there was a red house.
Inside the red house there were lots of babies."

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-12-2002 07:44 PM

These two have been posted before (by me, actually, so I know the answers )

The first one is the letter "E" and the second one is a watermelon.
As for the second one you listed, is the answer "tomorrow"???

Niere-Teleliniel 05-13-2002 08:15 AM

Okay, I wondered about that when I posted, but I was too lazy to back and read thru the thread! Yes, the answer is tomorrow! Perhaps I should just stick to answering...

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-13-2002 12:22 PM

No no! You can keep posting riddles. I understand not wanting to go back through all of them. Besides, I wouldn't have known them if I hadn't been the one who posted them
I have decided to start making up my own riddles, though my head has been spinning lately so I don't have any new ones yet.

Susan Delgado 05-13-2002 10:10 PM

1.
I move silently without wings,
between silvery, silken strings,
And there, in the grass,
You'll see me as you pass.

2.
Two bodies have I, both joined in one.
The more still I stand, the quicker I RUN>

And one more of these, just for kicks

3.
My first in in wood, but isn't in tree.
My second's in four and also in three.
My third is in music and also in tune.
My fourth is in May but never in June.
My whole makes a sound you can hear down the street.

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-14-2002 02:30 PM

I think the first one is a spider.

Is the third one a type of musical instrument?

Susan Delgado 05-17-2002 05:10 PM

Correct

Tigerlily Gamgee 05-17-2002 06:10 PM

Marvelous! Now to ponder the other two. Hmmm....

Susan Delgado 05-17-2002 09:00 PM

Oh, ya...the second one is a type of musical instrument

Niere-Teleliniel 05-19-2002 03:48 PM

It's a drum.

Susan Delgado 05-20-2002 01:52 AM

Drum is correct

Susan Delgado 05-20-2002 07:53 PM

Quote:

No, that's the third one, the drum. The second one hasn't had any guesses yet.

Lady_Báin 05-21-2002 06:12 AM

susan is no. 2 a feather? or leaf? ahhhhhh I just have no idea!!

Niere-Teleliniel 05-21-2002 04:40 PM

Um.....I know the answer to the 2nd one...but....I sorta cheated Anyhoo, if everyone is stumped I can answer it!
