Waste lent Arizona

Is the answer ent, Silmarien?

Annunfuiniel 03-07-2003 03:50 AM

The only sound word I can get out of that is Elentári, ...Wase lent Arizona..., but I don't see how that fits the clues though.
Well, isn't the first time I'm stumped.

I get Irmo...

Silmarien 03-07-2003 06:49 PM

Well done Annunfuiniel. Sorry but I didn't put in a clue. Your turn.

Annunfuiniel 03-08-2003 05:40 AM

Thank you, Silmarien. That was almost like a riddle, I so wanted to find either Narsil, Telchar or some other sword or smith in it! Well, this one will be too obvious...

Fingon's call "Aurë!" lingered still in the air when the answer came: "Auta i lómë!". And the night was over.

LePetitChoux 03-09-2003 04:35 PM

call "Aurë!" lingered

Laurelin?

Annunfuiniel 03-09-2003 11:58 PM

Yes, Laurelin it is! Great job, LePetitChoux, please continue.

LePetitChoux 03-10-2003 11:51 AM

<font face="Trebuchet MS" size=4 color="#FFFFFF">There were seven doors in the dimly lit chamber, all with symbols on them. On the first door (which I will call door A) was a star, and it seemed to be a happy door. Door B was sad, and had a triangle on it. Door C was scared and had a square with a dot in the middle of it. Door D was hyperactive, and had a stick-person on it. Door E was consoling, and had a spiral on it. Door F was obsessive and had a circle on it, a thick circle rather like...a ring. And, Finally, Door G was wet, as if it had just been in water, and had waves on it.
Now, our intrepid adventurer got doors F and G confused, and had lots of problems getting them the right way round again.

There are two words hidden... ("Only two? In that great big hunk of text?" I hear you cry) Good Luck! You sure do need it. And, this isn't a straightforward word in words, its a "Cryptic Clue"

Manardariel 03-10-2003 12:33 PM

Nenya? More guessing then finding

LePetitChoux 03-10-2003 02:27 PM

Nope! It reqiures some thought. The key thing is the last sentence. It holds the key to the mystery, hehe...

The Saucepan Man 03-10-2003 09:53 PM

Wow! Excellent clue, LePetitChoux.

I have spent ages trying to work this out (never could resist cryptic clues), so I hope it's right ...

Frodo and Drogo, anagrams of Door F and Door G.

LePetitChoux 03-11-2003 02:57 PM

Yay! Well done! Yay!

The Saucepan Man 03-12-2003 08:46 AM

Hehe. I enjoyed that one. Here's another (semi) cryptic clue:

The wandering elf was hidden. He trod lightly, but keen eyes and a quick wit might have observed him as he returned.

Annunfuiniel 03-12-2003 09:02 AM

He trod lightly...

When you read it backwards you get Gildor!

The Saucepan Man 03-12-2003 12:59 PM

Bah! I'll have to make it even more cryptic next time ...

Well done, Annunfuiniel. Your turn ...

Annunfuiniel 03-13-2003 01:10 AM

Thanks! This one will follow the line of cryptic clues...

The second and fourth books of the LoTR were of no use until I pieced its information with the UT. Then Ulmo's influence emerged to me in its full potential.

Silmarien 03-15-2003 09:15 PM

Would that be Tuor?

2nd and 4th of LOTR mixed with UT

Annunfuiniel 03-16-2003 01:30 AM

Yes indeed, Silmarien! Feel free to proceed!

Silmarien 03-18-2003 06:11 PM

Evenstar wench.

Rochelle 03-18-2003 06:25 PM

I assume that'd be Arwen *lol*

Silmarien 03-18-2003 10:18 PM

Well done!
Sorry if it was too easy.
Your turn Rochelle.

LePetitChoux 03-21-2003 02:07 PM

AGH! The suspense is killing me! Please, please post!

Rochelle 03-21-2003 04:40 PM

Terribly sorry! I simply forgot I had posted in here *lol* Ok let's see here...

Quote:

My aunt Martha lost her goggles whilst swimming in the river.

Diamond18 03-21-2003 09:16 PM

Would that be the river Thalos?

Rochelle 03-22-2003 12:56 AM

You would be correct!

Diamond18 03-23-2003 01:24 PM

I was reading a book of the Third Age as the sun set in the west, and as I watched it march toward the horizon it turned the evening sky red.

Annunfuiniel 03-23-2003 02:16 PM

Red book of Westmarch? The words are there but I'm not sure about my logic here...

[ March 23, 2003: Message edited by: Annunfuiniel ]

Diamond18 03-23-2003 11:11 PM

Quite so. The clue was in it being a "book of the Third Age". Okay, so I'm stretching.

Carry on.

BeautifulSoup 03-25-2003 05:10 PM

Please post! The suspense is killing me!

Annunfuiniel 03-26-2003 08:32 AM

Yay! That was a very good one, Diamond!

"Give back our ring! We needsss it!", cried Gollum so that one would think even the elves beyond the Sea could have heard him.

[ March 26, 2003: Message edited by: Annunfuiniel ]

The Saucepan Man 03-26-2003 09:42 AM

... back our ring! We needsss it!

Ingwe.

Annunfuiniel 03-26-2003 09:49 AM

Ah, yes, Saucepan man, you got it! I'm already excited; how cryptic clue will you give us this time?

[ March 26, 2003: Message edited by: Annunfuiniel ]

The Saucepan Man 03-26-2003 08:14 PM

Cryptic you want? Then cryptic you shall get.

Confused wife takes in first of Noldor.

Actually, that should be pretty easy ...

Rochelle 03-26-2003 08:35 PM

I'm going to say Finwë

The Saucepan Man 03-26-2003 08:50 PM

Then you're going to be correct, Rochelle.

Rochelle 03-26-2003 09:00 PM

Oh good I haven't gotten to do one of these in awhile...

"Whenever one thinks of William Shakespeare, the famous quote of Hamlet comes to mind. 'To be or not to be: that is the question.' I personally prefer to quote Juliet and say 'What's in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.'"

The Saucepan Man 03-26-2003 09:33 PM

To be or not to be

Beorn.

Rochelle 03-26-2003 09:44 PM

That it is

The Saucepan Man 03-27-2003 08:46 PM

Okey-dokey, here we go:

The last of the Eldar were in gold Teleri ships, but this one would never set sail.

alaklondewen 03-27-2003 08:56 PM

This may be an accident, but going from the clue 'last'...

gold Teleri ships
