Hi Manwe! I'm in the same boat...we are welcome (in my understanding) to post in the Green Dragon or in the Mead Hall, but other than that we, like anyone else, must wait to be invited into a game, and must play a game in the Shire to completion before receiving an invitation to play in Rohan. I believe there is a game in the works in the Shire, likely to be a parody-game rather than one in a serious style, but the company in the Inn is very fine. PM piosennial in order to place your name on the master player's list so GMs know to consider you for a game.

Meanwhile, I look forward to seeing you in the Dragon!

hey manwe... what JennyHallu, our newest greeter said! :p

As to stay along with the subject of this post, I would like to give a welcome to a new member, DarkLordSauron. I do not know if they have already introduced themselves here, but as in accordance to their message, I would like to wish them a wonderful time here on the downs and that their stay here will be a enjoyable one.

Welcome all newcomers! Enjoy yourselves!

Enedhilion 02-10-2006 07:34 AM

Hello, I am Will, and I found this site from a link (name generator) posted on GameFAQs.

I am an avid LOTR fan, and sometimes find myself reading hundreds of Wikipedia articles pertaining to family lineage of Middle-Earth inhabitants.

My name "translates" to Enedhil (username was taken) so I settled for Enedhilion.

I am currently waiting to play Battle for Middle-Earth II.

Rune Son of Bjarne 02-10-2006 07:44 AM

Welcome Enedhilion.

I hope your stay among us dead may be a cold and clammy expirience.

If your looking for lengthy discutions, we have some exelent ones in the book forums. If you are hear for less setious reason pleas visit the Quiz Room. We allso have some ghastly Werewolf games you might want to try out.

Enedhilion 02-10-2006 07:56 AM

I think I'll try my luck in the RPG section, I am currently writing an introduction into the Green Dragon Inn.

:p

Roa_Aoife 02-10-2006 08:54 AM

Way to dive right in! Welcome, Enedhilion, I'm sure the folks at the Green Dragon will show you a fine time.

Ah...Wikipedia...

*sighs dreamily*

Any friend of Wikipedia is a friend of mine...Mae govannon!

Gil-Galad 02-10-2006 05:12 PM

Enedhilion, welcome! i too am waiting for BFME II to coem out, it looks like an awesome game

Caunwaithon 02-11-2006 02:57 AM

Howdy!

Well, I'm Caunwaithon.

If anyone wants to know, it means "Leader of the People" in elvish. Found it on a name generator.

I was introduced to this site by Enedhil, my friend. We go to school together, and all that.

I was first introduced to J.R.R. Tolkien when I read the hobbit, quite a few years ago. I liked it, but forgot about it. The movies really brought out the LOTR fan in me. I am now addicted to it, and I have just bought The Simrallion (correct me if the spelling is wrong) and I have just gotten to the demise of melkor, and the march of the elves.

I, too am an avid BFME fan, and am getting BFME 2 for the xbox 360. My computer, sadly, is not up to snuff for that kind of thing.

I write "short stories" for my english teacher for extra credit, and for my own enjoyment. Some are sci-fi, some modern, none fantasy, but I have written 2 LOTR.

I have written my "intro" in the Green Dragon inn, and am currently in a discussion with Elendhil.

My RP'ing expierience boils down to this-

1 LOTR rp'ing site
7 Star wars.

Although I have never seen one...quite like this, lol.

So...yeah.

P.S.- If there are any SWs fans, go to this RPing site-

http://sw-rev.net/forums/index.php?referid=125

I am Kerrson Mantau there.

Alkanoonion 02-11-2006 03:27 AM

Mae Govannen (well met)
Caunwaithon
I hope to have many fine discussions with you in the future. Come sit here by the fire and share some of my cake and milk.

Alk

Gil-Galad 02-11-2006 01:40 PM

welcome Caunwaithon and enjoy the many RPG's we have here

Glirdan 02-11-2006 02:56 PM

Welcome to all newcomer's and welcome back Alka. I hope I get to know you all well in our death.

Just as you mention your wish to correct you, I'll take the liberty of doing so. So it's Silmarillion, not Simrallion. Tolkien indeed got the idea for this name from the finnish mythology, where the mythological smith is called "Ilmarinen". You propably can taste the similarity.

So: Silmarillion - Ilmarinen (and don't pronounce it the basic american way, but try the original pronouncement, and you see, they fit like a hand to a glove)

I think, that kind of shows the way Tolkien worked, finding suitable syllables from here and there, and then knitting them together in his own, quite systematic work. What a guy!

But really. Welcome Caunwaithon, and Enedhilion, and Janthor too!

You seem to have quite an action going on at the the Green Dragon. Have fun, but get to know other folks also! There is quite a mob out there: so read some earlier posts and just intervene with anyone. You'll see, it becomes much more interesting with people who are total strangers to you... :D

Thinlómien 02-13-2006 08:23 AM

Welcome, Caunwaithon!

I'm very delighted that someone does a "proper" introduction of himself. (But that is purely of selfish reasons; I don't feel so much fool for my overlong introduction about myself over a year ago... )

Anyway, welcome Caunwaithon, I hope you'll enjoy the 'Downs!

JennyHallu 02-13-2006 08:33 AM

Welcome, welcome, welcome all around. Enjoy your deaths! May maggots never invade your barrow! May the light of day never burn your eyes! May ghosts, ghoulies, and things that go BUMP in the night (that would include me, but mostly because I'm klutzy) be your ever-constant friends!!

teehee.

A_Brandybuck 02-14-2006 04:35 AM

Hi,

I was absent for a long long while because of some personal trouble. I just want to say, that I am back, although I wasn't that long here, before I have left. ;-)
Hoping for good discussions...... :-)
Greetings
Mr.Brandybuck

Roa_Aoife 02-14-2006 07:46 AM

Hello, Mr. Brandybuck! Welcome back. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. :D

welcome back A_Brandybuck

Thinlómien 02-14-2006 08:48 AM

Welcome back, A. Brandybuck!

You were there and now you're back again, and that's just normal hobbit behaviour... ;)

Wiscott 02-14-2006 04:28 PM

Hello! I'm new to the site, but have been a fan of Tolkien for a few years. The books of his are certainly some of the best literature I have ever read. I'll probably check out the RPing forums most of the time, but in general I like everything to do with LOTR, so I'll pop up just about everywhere. Hope to be around for quite some time to come...

Glirdan 02-14-2006 04:49 PM

Welcome Wiscott and welcome back A Brandybuck.

With your signature, you should check the "culinary traditions..." -thread! :D

But anyhow. Welcome to the BD-community!

You will be most warmly welcomed. We all have been (see my joining date...). So speaking with no authority at all, get yourself involved! So as you say, being all-around, is a good tactics! Go to the Green Dragon, see for the starting Werewolf-games, or join the discussion about PJ's films vs. the original story, sequence by sequence, or about the details of Tolkien's ideas about shaping the destiny of the "lost dwarwes" in Silmarillion, or all of them. Here, there is everything for everyone.

Have fun!

Gil-Galad 02-14-2006 05:35 PM

welcome wiscott

JennyHallu 02-14-2006 08:13 PM

Welcome all newcomers! I'm afraid that by the time I get back, I won't know anyone! Not that that's a bad thing... :D
Anyway, I'm just checking in again! My new house is now completed and I have moved in. We are just getting settled before we set up the computer, though. :p Don't miss me too much! Yeah right, I've probably been forgotten by now...

Nimmy :D

Glirdan 02-15-2006 07:27 PM

Haunt me!! Haunt me!! that way you may remind me more often when I forget to post in the Green Dragon Inn

Is it me or we have had an influx of new people all of a sudden? not that I mind, not at all, I just find it odd that for a couple of month we've had just a trickle and all of a sudden it's like a river.

Welcome you all!!

Parmastahir 02-17-2006 08:43 PM

Hello all. I'm new to these boards but have posted on the GDI, CoE, MT, TPTS (you name it). Was very intrigued by the number of recent posts on these boards which indicated an active membership. I translated my name myself: parma=book, asta=month, hir=root for "to find". Literally, "book of months finder". In essence, "calendar collector". My Tolkien passion is the Tolkien calendars. I have catalogued my collection at:

www.angelfire.com/tn3/tolkiencalendars

Would appreciate comments and messages from you if you know of or have any calendars that I have not found (yet!) I love the interpretations of the many illustrators out there - from the very well-known (Howe and Nasmith) to the obscure (Korablev) to the "Who knew?" (for example, Alex Lewis!) Hope you enjoy it!

Gil-Galad 02-17-2006 10:57 PM

Parmastahir

welcome!

i have a 1994 Tolien Calender, well my brother does

Estelyn Telcontar 02-18-2006 02:35 AM

Welcome, Parmastahir! It's good to have a member adding a new aspect of Tolkienism to the site! We have discussed collector's items in the past on this thread: The Collection Grows, so if you wade through or skim over those 21 pages, there is sure to be mention of some calendar or other.

I took a brief peek at your site, and though you say you don't collect movie-related calendars, I would like to mention that, as far as I know, a movie bookmark calendar (see it here) is Germany's unique contribution to the topic. Aside from the German Tolkien Society's calendar (which has an illustration by Anke Eissmann, a wonderful young artist whom I met in Birmingham last summer), which you have on your list, I am not aware of any others that are available only in Germany. I wish Anke Eissmann, whose Tolkien and related artwork can be seen on her website, would do a whole calendar. Her paintings are fantastic - I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
