Indis:Finwë's second wife and mother of Finarfin and Fingolfin.

Ingwe: leader of the Vanyar, the first of the three hosts of the Eldar on the westward journey from Cuiveinen. In Aman he dwelt upon Taniquetil, and was held high king of all the elves. He was close kin to Indis.

Varda:Maker of the stars, revered most by the elves and lives on Taniquetil with her spouse Manwë.

Yavanna: One of the Valar, who made all plants and green living things

The Ents: "shepards of the trees" whom yavanna had Illuvitar create to protect her trees from the other children of illuvitar, especially the dwarves

Huorns, tree spirits guarded by the Ents

Elves: They "woke up the Ents"

Cuivinen- the lake where Elves awoke

Orome: the elves were found there by Orome (a Vala, one of the Aratar, the great hunter)

Nahar - Orome's horse, the ancestor of mearas

Shadowfax a uhh horse, owned by Gandalf

Tharkún:A name given to Gandalf by the Dwarves.

Zirak-Zigil, one of the three mountains of Moria, a dwarven mansion.

Azaghal: Lord of the dwarves of Belegost; wounded Glaurung inthe Nirnaeth Arnoediad, and was killed by him

Túrin Turambar, hard as bollocks man who slew Glaurang.

Húrin:Father of Túrin and after being captured by Morgoth was set upon Thangorodrim. After his release he slew Mîm the petty dwarf and brought the Nauglamìr to Thingol.

Morwen: Hurin's wife, daughter of Baragund.

Morwen: the random woman of Rohan that is inserted in the movie, or so I have been told...

theoden: the king of rohan who was falling into dotard (wrong tense?). then helped out by gandalf.

Eomer, Theoden's nephew who becomes the next king of Rohan after Theoden is killed by the Witch-king.

Eowyn - Eomer's sister

Angmar, the realm of the Witch King.

Minas Ithil:"The Tower of the Moon" Isildur's city and the former name of Minas Morgul.

Aragorn: the only remaining heir to the throne of Gondor, and Isildur's heir. He joins up with the Fellowship of the Ring in the third age.

Arwen- his wife, Elrond´s daughter& therefore elven, chose mortality to live with Aragorn

Elladan: One of Arwen's brothers.

Elrond, lord of Rivendell

Rivendell: Place where the council of Elrond took place. The Fellowship was created, the one ring was first {privately} announced.

Balin:Companion of Bilbo, of the House of Durin and for a brief time The Lord of Moria.

Gimli- Balin´s cousin and a dwarf

Aulë:A great Valar and a master of crafts who created the dwarves.

Turgon (don't ask me why; I have no idea how it came from Aule...): Second son of Fingolfin, Founder and Ruler of Gondolin, and Grandfather of Earendil the Mariner.

Lúthien- elven maiden, appears in the Silm. and so does Turgon( some association)

Halfling: Name for the Hobbits. It calls them Halflings at the end of the Silmarillion

The Simarils: The three jewels made by Feanor before the destruction of the 2 trees of Valinor, and filled with their light.
