Found it - after much pondering !

"Yet if you would have speech with them,
then come with me, as I bid you;
for in the far havens of the south you may
meet with wanderers from the Hidden Kingdom." Annael to Tuor (in U.T.)

The Perky Ent 04-18-2004 08:31 PM

even though Guinevere hasn't posted one yet, any As?

Edit: Perky, how about waiting until Guinevere posts the next one?

gilraën 04-19-2004 12:29 AM

You're correct Guinevere, as always. :)

Your turn.

Well, I don't have English copies of the books, but I think I have it anyway:

"For however the fortune of war shall go, may it not so end that much that was fair and wonderful shall pass for ever out of Middle earth?"

Well, we're over the 10 page limit again. How soon it seems to come around. ;)

So, thread closed. Guinevere, would you mind awfully starting the next one, either by confirming that NightKnight has it or (in the unlikely event that he does not) re-posting the quote in its current state of revelation? Please could you also include the guidance from the first page. And might I suggest that you start it in the Quotable Quotes forum, since this is in essence a quotes game.

Thanks. :)

Guinevere 04-20-2004 12:20 PM

Palantir of Fortune 5 !

Since the last thread became too long I am reopening it here as Saucepan Man asked.

The rules are:

The question consists of a series of blanks representing a quote or extract from one of Tolkien's books. The blanks are gradually filled with letters requested by the players until one of the players is able to guess the quote.

You can join in requesting letters or make a guess any time. The person who correctly guesses the quote first gets to set the next one.

The last quote was correctly guessed by NightKnight so it is his turn! :)

Yeah, someone'll take it. I just can't help it. After reading it so many times it just stands out just by looking at it, and I had to post :)
