Thanks Firefoot :)

New quote:
Quote:

" ----/-/-------/--/--/-----/----/--/----/----/--/---/---;/---/----/---/---/-----/--/---/--------,/---/---(-)-----/-----------/-----/--/---/------./----/---/---/-------/--/---/-----!/---/---/---/----/----/--/--/------/--/----?/---/---/-/------/------/----."

The (-) denotes a hyphen.
Good luck all :)

A few clues there ;)

Guinevere 05-30-2004 02:39 PM

Indeed! ;) It can only be Legolas:
Quote:

Then I thought in my heart that we drew near to the sea; for wide was the water in the darkness and sea-birds innumerable cried on its shores. Alas for the wailing of the gulls! Did not the Lady tell me to beware of them? And now I cannot forget them.

Eruanna 05-30-2004 04:54 PM

:) It is Legolas indeed!
The awakening of the sea-longing always makes me feel so sorry for him. All of the fellowship pay a price, one way or another.

Guinevere 05-31-2004 10:23 AM

Thank you Eruanna! :)
(Hm, I had not really thought of it that way until now... But you're right, up to that moment Legolas seemed perfectly happy in Middle-earth, and then he had a conflict. Do you think he wouldn't be happy in Tol Eressëa ? I rather felt sorry for Middle-earth bereft of elves...!) Anyhow, here's a new one:
Quote:

Morsul the Dark 05-31-2004 10:29 AM

Ts?

Firefoot 05-31-2004 04:15 PM

R's.

Eruanna 05-31-2004 05:17 PM

Are there any Ns?

To answer your question about Legolas. I think that he would be happy in Tol Eressëa eventually. However, as you said, he had been perfectly happy before this, it seems to me to mark a loss of innocence and contentment with his life. And, yes Middle-Earth without Elves...too sad :(

Guinevere 06-01-2004 01:08 AM

I guess you can now see what it is... ;)

Bombadil 06-01-2004 05:02 PM

His face was sad and stern because of the doom that was laid on him, and yet hope dwelt ever in the depths of his heart, from which mirth would arise at times like a spring from the rock.

ahhh estel...

Guinevere 06-02-2004 01:59 AM

Correct !

Such a beautiful description, isn't it! *sigh*

Yavanna to the rest of the Valar.

Hey dol, Merry dol! Correct firefoot! :D

Guinevere 06-03-2004 02:08 AM

Firefoot 06-03-2004 05:58 AM

Guinevere 06-03-2004 01:38 PM

Huh ? ??
I wasn't being impatient, Firefoot, I was looking at the last post of the last page and hadn't even noticed that the game had been going on on the next page, and the riddle was already solved! ;) :p

Well, since I'm posting, I might as well ask for the O's ! (if any)

Firefoot 06-03-2004 04:10 PM

Oh, okay! O's, coming right up!

As a note - I realized a skipped a small bit after the first comma when orginally posting the quote. It has been added in.
