Hi All
I am not a new member but it has been some time since my last post so I thought that I would reintroduce myself for the people who don’t know me.

Forum Name is Alkanoonion, real name is Joseph
I can be found when not staying in the Halls of Mandos here or in a little game called Guild Wars playing on various characters named after Middle Earth people.

I live in Adelaide Australia
When the feeling hits I work for the South Australian Government (when not on the net)

I am single so if you are interested leave your resume ;) (Girls Only)

I will post a recent picture in the photo topic as soon as I can get one.

Rune Son of Bjarne 12-08-2006 06:24 AM

Yes welcome back. . .I guess you need no introduction to things.

I see we have another fan of a Barrow-Downs Dating-Site. . . . ;)

(Unfortunately it seems to be males that are most keen on the idea. . .I wonder why  )

Because you're all so desperate, by any chance? :p ;)

Anyway, welcome back Alkanoonion, and welcome to the 'downs, Istari and Aaron!

Rune Son of Bjarne 12-08-2006 06:41 AM

Don't blur it out like that, then I. . .we are never going to get any dates!

mhagain 12-11-2006 01:14 PM

Howdy folks,

Just discovered this site yesterday, and have mooched around a bit before making intros. Where to start? Well, I've been reading Tolkien for around 25 years now, since a friend gave me a loan of The Hobbit, have read most books at least twice or 3 times, and am a massive fan of the First Age material. I suppose I'm a bit weird in that I read The Silmarillion before Lord Of The Rings, and maybe weirder yet in that I don't actually object to CT's original material in The Silmarillion (in fact the Ruin of Doriath that he wrote is one of the most memorable and moving episodes in the book so far as I'm concerned).

The "New Silmarillion" concept presented here is of major interest to me as I'd been playing with something similar in my own head for quite some time.

Looking forward to having a few more good reads of material here, and would be very interested in finding any theories about the latter history of Maglor (another thing that stuck with me very strongly).

By the way, I normally go by "mh" (which is just my initials), the "again" was just added to meet the minimum length requirements!

Ta for now,

mh

Nimrodel_9 12-11-2006 04:11 PM

Welcome back Alkanoonion and welcome mhagain!

The Silmarillion is a great read; have you ever read HoMe or my old favorites Farmer Giles of Ham; and, The Adventures of Tom Bombadil? They are great to read to children.

Anyway hope to see you around and please stop in at the Translations from the Elvish - Public Forum and share your ideas with us :)

Talking of the sil forum is lindil, HerenIstarion and Aiwendil still here in the Downs?

Luthien Elfmaiden 12-12-2006 08:22 PM

Hi

Hi
A friend of mine (Alkanoonion) who is also member here just showed me your site so with his help I decided to join up. :D

I have been reading Tolkien for some time, starting in High School with the hobbit and have progressed to the stage that I now feel that I can positively contribute to the many fine discussions on your site.

I also play Guild Wars with Alk and if you are a fan of the game you can message me in game or E-mail me

Hope to chat with you all at length in the future.

Boromir88 12-12-2006 08:28 PM

Welcome Luthien, I'm sure you'll find something here that suits your fancy. The 'downs is known for that :D Good to have you.

FeRaL sHaDoW 12-12-2006 09:40 PM

shieldmaiden4xsword 12-13-2006 08:14 PM

Welcome, Luthien Elfmaiden!!!

Grok 12-17-2006 09:22 AM

I can't beleive I have never found this site before!

Hi

You can call me Grok, I'm in year 11 (15-16) and I live in Coventry the UK. I first read the Hobbit when I was about 6 and I have been a Tolkien fan since. I have read the Hobbit, LoTR, Unfinished Tales and Silmarillion and I feel I have enough knowledge of Tolkien ad his works to join this site.

I have been a member of Tolkien communities, especially forums, since 2000. After the release of RoTK most of the forums I was on began to lose member and by 2004 many forums were dead and forgotten. I indeed myself began to lose interest in LOTR and have only recently rekindled my interest in the great works after coming across my books in the bottom of a cupboard.

As for how I found this site? I was googling Imrahil and their was a member on this forum of that name and it came up with his profile. I hope you will all welcome me in your little community (or should I say big) and I hope to speak to you all soon.

Grok- you’re local Communist.

The Might 12-17-2006 09:56 AM

New here!

Well...guess it's time to introduce myself...
My name is the Might but you can call me TM or anything else you find suitable...
I've been a fan for quite some time now, but I only recently discovered the Barrowdowns and decided to join. Anyway...I like the site and I think it will be a pleasent stay. :p

Gil-Galad 12-17-2006 03:08 PM
