"Loose connections"

It seems to me that some of the connections between the theme and the item given have become rather "forced" (to say the least) over the last page or so.

It's fair enough for the more difficult letters, but please try to name items that fit as closely to the current theme as possible wherever you can. Otherwise, the game simply isn't much of a challenge.

Thanks. :)

Firefoot 03-07-2004 01:06 PM

Come on folks, you can do better than this

Quote:

P is for the Phial of Galadriel, which calls upon Earendil, who sails the skies!
That's just the kind of thing that I was talking about. It certainly is a stretch, particularly when there are a number of alternatives, such as Pelori, Pillar of Heaven and People of the Stars.

Also, how about a bit of variety? The Nazgul have come up 3 times, and they don't even fly themselves (and they certainly don't have much else to do with air). Similarly, the Silmarils have come up at least 3 times on this topic.

The game will be far more challenging, and also far more satisfying, if you try coming up with clever and different items.

Firefoot 03-08-2004 06:20 AM

V is for Vaitya, the uppermost of the three levels of air.

NightKnight 03-08-2004 11:50 AM

piosenniel 03-08-2004 01:37 PM

X

Here are 2 stretches for “X”:

First concerns the a"X"is about which the stars of Arda reel in the sky – Balcercor or the Sickle of the Valar.

Second offered is a short quote from The Hobbit – ‘Out of the Frying-pan Into the Fire', where Bilbo would have to have become a creature who can fly through the air were he to try to escape from the ledge where the eagle had stashed him:

Quote:

There was no path down on to it save by flying; and no path down off it e"X"cept by jumping over a precipice.

NightKnight 03-08-2004 01:40 PM
