Thanks!

Well, the transfer thing was symbolism-laden, too. It meant "I don't want to live too near that place." *points to East* ;)

Enedwaith, which creature has the longest sight range?

The Elf-warrior 04-09-2005 08:08 PM

Eagles?

Nilpaurion Felagund 04-10-2005 05:42 AM

Sorry, no.

This tidbit is found in UT.

Evisse the Blue 05-03-2005 06:00 AM

Well, assuming Manwë is a creature ( ;) ), that would be him when he sits on Taniquetil with Varda at his side.

Nilpaurion Felagund 05-10-2005 11:00 PM

Not him, either.

It's a beast, a cunning one at that.

Nilpaurion Felagund 08-24-2005 09:14 PM

*bump*

Anyone?

Lostgaeriel 08-25-2005 12:35 AM

thanks for the hint

I believe that the creature having the longest sight range is Glaurung, the first of the Dragons of Morgoth.

Quote:

But Glaurung lay there, just within the shadow of the great passage that led inward from the ruined Doors, and he had long been aware of the spies, though few other eyes in Middle-earth would have discerned them. But the glance of his fell eyes was keener than that of eagles, and outreached the far sight of the Elves; and indeed he knew also that some remained behind and sat upon the bare top of Amon Ethir.
- UT, II Narn I Hîn Húrin, The Journey of Morwen and Nienor to Nargothrond

I don't know if this quote is definitive, but eyesight better than eagles & Eves is something special indeed.

Nilpaurion Felagund 08-25-2005 12:57 AM

You got it!

Your turn! :)

Lostgaeriel 08-30-2005 09:41 AM

Who was the proudest and most self-willed of the Eldar?

arcticstorm 08-30-2005 11:14 AM

who is Feanor

Lostgaeriel 09-01-2005 05:57 PM

Umm...arcticstorm...uh...this isn't Jeopardy! Your answer should be in the form of an answer, not in the form of a question (although, you neglected to include a question mark).

Yes, Fëanor is the correct ANSWER according to The Lord of the Rings, Appendix A Annals of the Kings and Rulers, I The Numenorean Kings, (i) Númenor:
Quote:

Fëanor was the greatest of the Eldar in arts and lore, but also the proudest and most self-willed.

Fëanor is just the most.

Your turn arcticstorm - time to ask a QUESTION! :D

arcticstorm 09-01-2005 06:23 PM

What is the longest lay that speaks of the anciemt times of middle earth?

Nilpaurion Felagund 09-01-2005 08:49 PM

Lay of the Children of Húrin?

The Perky Ent 09-01-2005 09:21 PM

Lay of Leithian?

arcticstorm 09-02-2005 11:09 AM

You've got it Nilp.

Nilpaurion Felagund 09-04-2005 06:47 PM

Thanks!

Oh dear, now I have to come up with a question. Hmmm . . .

Who was said to be the greatest of mortal warriors?

Gil-Galad 09-04-2005 08:43 PM

Beren? or maybe it was Hurin...

Nilpaurion Felagund 09-04-2005 08:53 PM

Húrin it was!

I should have used 'mightiest' instead of 'greatest', but you still got it anyhow.

Your turn. :)

Gil-Galad 09-04-2005 08:55 PM

now i have too think...

Which Elven Love story is regarded as the most tragic?

Nilpaurion Felagund 09-04-2005 09:09 PM

Lay of Leithian?

Gil-Galad 09-04-2005 09:20 PM

nope, not the one i'm thinking of

NightKnight 09-05-2005 01:36 PM

Could it be the one about Nimrodel?

Gil-Galad 09-05-2005 03:51 PM

NightKnight is correct, Nimrodel and Amroth, very tragic indeed

NightKnight 09-06-2005 08:53 AM

Who was the greatest troll-slayer of all time?

Hiriel 09-06-2005 09:35 AM

Hurin?

I remember the quote, i just dind't remember the name

NightKnight 09-06-2005 12:33 PM

'Tis him. Your turn. :)

Nilpaurion Felagund 09-14-2005 08:08 PM

*poke*

Hiriel?

Hiriel 09-17-2005 05:52 PM

Sorry, forgot I posted here. Heh. Ok.

Who was the first Took to marry a Baggings?

Márcolië Lamen 09-17-2005 10:47 PM

Definitally feel like I'm wrong and there's somehting I'm obviously missing but I'll guess anyways...

Hildigrim Took?

Hiriel 09-22-2005 06:31 PM

Nope. Close, though

Rune Son of Bjarne 09-22-2005 06:44 PM

Don't know much about hobbits

I too would say Hilidigrim, but since it is wrong. I will have too guess on Belladonna Took

Hiriel 09-27-2005 02:47 PM

Thats the one. :)

Rune Son of Bjarne 09-27-2005 03:47 PM

I read this in a Companion, so i cannot proof that it is correct

What is the oldest name for Teleri

The Perky Ent 09-27-2005 04:06 PM

Lindar?

Rune Son of Bjarne 09-27-2005 04:21 PM

yes

The Perky Ent 09-27-2005 05:03 PM

Cheers!

Yay! Now I can ask a question I've been wanting too for quite some time!

Who is the first known elf to die?

Gil-Galad 09-27-2005 05:06 PM

Finwe's first wife, mother of Feanor, Miriel Serinde

Telchar 09-27-2005 05:08 PM

Míriel Serindë ?

The Perky Ent 09-27-2005 05:18 PM

:(

 :( Crush my dreams before they even start. I was hoping at least one person would guess Finwe, they I could say they were wrong and flaunt my signature! But you, Gil-Galad, are correct. I'm not counting accents (unless Telchar was going to post before Gil-Galad, but Gil got there first)

Gil-Galad 09-27-2005 05:33 PM

alrighty... What race did the Ents fist assualt(that is chronicled in the Silmarillion)
