Finaly you got it!

Gethron it was. . .I chose Gethron over Grithnir, because Grithnir sounds like Glitnir an Icelandic bank for whom I did some very dull work. Well, not for them, but for some of their supliers.

What was the Titel of the part of Narn Hin Hurin in which you found their names?

The Might 12-30-2006 04:44 PM

the departure of Turin...why?

Rune Son of Bjarne 12-30-2006 04:50 PM

well I told you that they where travel companions. . . and the Danish is called "Turins afrejse" so I figured the German would be called "Turins abreise" (reise and rejse meaning travel)

You are German, right?

The Might 12-30-2006 04:55 PM

not really
I am a Romanian, living in Germany, and all my books are in English
I like English to German when it comes to Tolkien, because it's the original, just as he wrote it

anyway...to keep it similar, but clearly easier

a companion of Thror

Valier 01-02-2007 10:42 AM

Thorin?

The Might 01-02-2007 10:46 AM

nope...

Valier 01-02-2007 10:51 AM

Thrain?

The Might 01-02-2007 10:52 AM

nope (fortunately for you Tolkien didn't name so many Dwarves :D)

Valier 01-02-2007 11:00 AM

Borin?

The Might 01-02-2007 11:04 AM

not Borin either...
I thought the answer was pretty easy, it's a pretty well known story

Valier 01-02-2007 11:13 AM

Nar?

The Might 01-02-2007 11:15 AM

Congrats :)

btw it was with Nar that Thror travelled to Moria. There he was killed by Azog, and after the Orc branded his name in Thror's head he sent Nar back to the Dwarves to give them the message that any other Dwarves that would come to Moria would also suffer that fate

Valier 01-02-2007 11:18 AM

YAY!!!!!!! Ok welll

Who was told he could not have two wives by his Father?

The Might 01-02-2007 11:26 AM

Aldarion maybe

I remember Erendis telling him he was wedded to the Sea as well...so that makes sense

Valier 01-02-2007 11:27 AM

Good job!! The thread is again yours Might.

The Might 01-02-2007 11:31 AM

wow...I'm...surprised to say the least
I haven't read that part of the UT for a long time

anyway...at whose passing do birds start to sing and flowers open ?

Valier 01-02-2007 11:37 AM

Vana the ever young?

The Might 01-02-2007 11:45 AM

Vana it is

Valier 01-02-2007 11:54 AM

Who led the woman and children of the house of Beor from Dorthonion?

The Might 01-02-2007 12:09 PM

Emeldir

Valier 01-02-2007 12:17 PM

Correct indeed!! :p

The Might 01-02-2007 12:26 PM

two members of the Baggins family had the same name as well...what was it?

Valier 01-02-2007 12:29 PM

Ponto?

The Might 01-02-2007 12:30 PM

quick and correct ;)

Valier 01-02-2007 12:32 PM

What was the name given to Turin by Finduilas and what is it's translation?

The Might 01-02-2007 12:36 PM

Thurin (the secret)
pretty close to the truth

Valier 01-02-2007 12:37 PM

Indeed :D

The Might 01-02-2007 12:41 PM

Who was the strongest of the Elves of Gondolin ?

Legate of Amon Lanc 01-02-2007 12:51 PM

Ecthelion?

The Might 01-02-2007 01:00 PM

nope

Anguirel 01-02-2007 01:07 PM

Rog, I'm fairly certain...

The Might 01-02-2007 01:34 PM

Beleg Cuthalion 01-17-2007 07:23 PM

Hello Shards of Narsil, you are right Elendil it is.

The Might 01-28-2007 02:26 PM

10 days...so here is a new one:

Two people that had the same name and were born 536 years apart.

Elmo 01-28-2007 02:33 PM

Was it Boromir the steward and Boromir of the nine walkers?

The Might 01-28-2007 02:46 PM

Well, yes, but not born 536 years apart

Legate of Amon Lanc 01-28-2007 04:13 PM

Just one question. Would you let me take the thread if I tell you more than 40 persons who I surely know are not the right answer? :D I just spent a lot of time in the books with a calculator, and I really didn't happen to find anyone who would fit this.

I guess it's a lot harder than it seems, eh?
