Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy it here.

Amras 07-25-2009 09:06 PM

Hello :)

narfforc 07-26-2009 08:08 AM

Welcome Amras, looking forward to hearing your views.

Nessa Telrunya 07-26-2009 10:49 AM

Why hello, darling Amras! It's good to finally see you here! XD

Hakon 07-27-2009 06:51 PM

Nessa, do you know Amras from somewhere other than this forum?

Nessa Telrunya 07-28-2009 04:58 AM

Yes, he is my lurvely brother whom I invited to the 'Downs. :)

Hakon 07-28-2009 07:11 AM

I see. You are lucky to have family that you can invite to a site you are part of. If my sister ever joined the Downs that would be a nightmare.

Nessa Telrunya 07-28-2009 07:52 AM

Well, that's probably what Amras is thinking about me right now.

Hakon 07-28-2009 09:18 AM

Maybe he is. I think the problems my sister and I have are worse than most siblings. Is Amras younger or older?

Estelyn Telcontar 07-28-2009 12:37 PM

We are always happy to welcome new members and even more so if they are friends and family. However, now that this fact has been established, please use the PM function for any further private conversations - thanks!

miriena 08-18-2009 02:20 PM

Hello

Hello. I've been reading the forums for a while (and quite enjoying it) so I decided to actually join instead of lurking.

I first stepped into Tolkien's world in 1994 when my parents gave me The Hobbit, The Lord Of The Rings, and The Silmarillion for my 9th birthday. They probably regretted it because they couldn't pry me away from the books for a while. The books were translations of the actual stories into Russian and I remember thinking that I would very much like to read them in Tolkien's native language. My family ended up moving to the US several years later and as one of the first things I did upon arrival to the new country was to go to a bookstore and buy the books to read them in English (although my English was horrible at that point...).

The world that Tolkien created became so much a part of my own that separating them doesn't even make sense, it truly has been one of the biggest influences for me. Something about it that caught me and hasn't let go all these years. And I'm always glad to meet people who understand my feelings toward it :-)

alatar 08-18-2009 02:25 PM

miriena, Welcome to the Downs! Hope that you enjoy you stay.

Pitchwife 08-18-2009 02:35 PM

Welcome, miriena, and enjoy being dead!

That sounds familiar. I got LotR for Christmas and was lost to the world until past New Year's Day. I suppose most of our families could tell a similar story...:)

Thinlómien 08-18-2009 02:42 PM

Welcome, miriena! Looking forward to seeing your posts elsewhere. :)

Hakon 08-18-2009 05:59 PM

Welcome to the forums Miriena.

Legate of Amon Lanc 08-19-2009 01:52 PM

Welcome miriena! Your story sounds somewhat like mine, at least you seem to have started reading LotR at about the same time, and at about almost the same age as me. Well, hope you will also enjoy the 'Downs as much as I found them! :)

Loslote 08-28-2009 07:44 PM

Hi, I'm Loslote. I just joined. I heard about this site from a family friend who's on here, but going to college, so probably won't have much time. I'm on another lotr site, but the formatting is a little different, so it'll take a while to get used to. :D

Nerwen 08-28-2009 08:49 PM

Welcome, Loslote! Enjoy your death!

Indeed! Welcome to The Barrow-Downs Loslote! I hope you find the time to join our madness because we DO need more Alaskans on here! You'll notice my location is the Chandalar Shelf; you may have heard of the area, it's up in the Brooks Range. Not that I live there, I live in Anchorage, I just thought it was an amazing place and a good location. Sounds like a part of the pantry! :D

Loslote 08-29-2009 05:21 PM

Thanks, Nerwen and Laurinque! I've never heard of that spot, but it sounds beautiful. :D I live in the Valley.

The Might 08-30-2009 03:44 PM

Welcome, Loslote! Hope you'll enjoy the Barrow-downs and that you'll find the time to stop in the Quiz Room from time to time. :)

Yes, welcome. I quite agree with Lauri, we do need more Alaskans on the forum. I'm in Anchorage too!

THE Ka 09-15-2009 09:15 PM

Not exactly new, but 're-animated'.

Just decided to stop by and say hello when I had the chance, after disappearing for entirely too long.
To put it short, work and saving up money, then school happened. I'll try to swing by as much as I can, or as my major will allow me. Architecture be a cruel mistress...

~ I'm Back, Ka

Thinlómien 09-17-2009 07:08 AM

*hugs THE Ka*

THE Ka 09-17-2009 08:58 PM

Awwh, thanks. My insides are dancing right now, thanks for the hug. I really missed the Downs.:D

TheGreatElvenWarrior 09-23-2009 09:34 PM

Yay! THE Ka is back on the Downs!

Pervinca Took 09-28-2009 09:06 AM

Hello, Pervinca Took here. :) I've really enjoyed reading through a lot of the discussion threads here, but never got round to registering before.

Welcome! Feel free to join whatever discussion interests you.

Pervinca Took 09-28-2009 09:14 AM

Thag you very buch! :)

Pitchwife 09-28-2009 11:40 AM

Welcome to the afterlife, Pervinca, hope you enjoy it!

Pervinca Took 09-28-2009 11:49 AM

Thanks for the welcome, Pitchwife. :)

I hadn't realised there was a "shades" theme to the rank names etc - excellent to have a more original theme for a board ... and also great to celebrate a beautifully-written chapter which is usually omitted from dramatisations.

I'm pretty sure Pervinca would have strayed both to Bree and the Barrow-Downs quite a few times.

That depends how Tookish a Took you think she was!

Welcome to the 'Downs, Pervinca, and I hope you enjoy being dead!

(Just please no dramatic rescues that involve running naked on the grass afterwards. Some of us have very active imaginations.)

Pervinca Took 09-28-2009 02:52 PM

:eek

Perish the thought. And thank you for the welcome. :)

narfforc 09-29-2009 09:51 AM

Hello again Pervinca, and welcome.

Gil-Galad 09-29-2009 11:47 AM

Ha! Gil-Galad! Beyond all hope you return to us...? Hmm, interestingly enough, we've just been talking about you today with Lommy. Well, not really talking on any lenghts, but we remembered you. Welcome back!

Speak my name and I shall return. It is true, I am here to help.

That and I am intrigued at what was said about me.

Nothing much, but the mention that you are not around any more. And lo, here you are. So indeed it may be so as you say :)

Thinlómien 09-30-2009 01:30 PM

Welcome, Pervinca, and welcome back, Gil. :)

The Might 10-01-2009 02:34 PM

Although I'd probably be a Brandybuck, hello Pervinca and have fun haunting through the barrows!
