Elennar, you rock because you casually planted psychological seeds into the minds of the other Downers that I am one of the beautiful people. Whether you are right or wrong, I am not obliged to answer. ;)

Lathriel, it was the hilarious (and English) Saucepan Man who brought forward the idea of me in a kilt. I have worn a kilt on several occasions in the past, actually. It's an experience, let me tell you. :)

Those seeds were a waste of planting time. Eomer, we all already knew you're the Lush of your gender! ;)

Quote:

don't usually have any appearance problems that require more than a few minutes to fix
Niether do we. Girls just exaggerate. :p Actually, I don't know that for certain. I DO know that I fully stand by if-it's-not-doable-in-ten-minutes-its-not-getting-done... unless for some fancy occasion or some such nonsense. Even then... the prom for example: my makeup took me some five minutes to do. It took me about five to get dressed, and that's because I tripped over my own feet. My hair took freaking forever (some 45 minutes), but if I'D been doing it? Not so long. See? It's called the I've-got-better-things-to-do-with-my-time beauty regimen.

you do look somewhat like Arwen
Hehe. The first time I badgered my parents into watching The Fellowship, my mama said to me "Did you know you're a dead ringer for that Elf lady there?" I fully argued: my eyes are hazel, my hair isn't nearly as long (even before I hacked it, it fell in loose curls just past my shoulders), I'm not tall enough, I haven't a whit of grace, and then I ran out of excuses. I do actually look somewhat like Arwen. Just a shorter, [much] younger, and of course prettier counterpart. ;) At least I've got the fair (see "pasty white" [except when sunburned]) skin.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 07-27-2004 07:27 AM

*dies laughing* :D

Moving swiftly on....

rimbaud looks like your typical 19th century character. Long straggly hair, high hat, long dark grey cloak, and deep eyes. This works for both genders as I don't know which is appropriate.

Nirvana II 07-27-2004 08:55 AM

i still remained partially undescribed!...and i give little clues about, so..harder for you!

you really should stop it, Leny...
But it's so fun!

Ignore that...the voice in my head is such a party pooper!

Ah, nicely done. I think I'll only tweak your rimbaud impression just a bit to make mine.

rimbaud: In short (very short), you look almost exactly like Van Helsing (the movie, not the comic book). In fact, were you to get a Van Helsing avatar, it would fit my impressions quite well ;).

Lathriel 07-27-2004 09:25 AM

Okay Nirvana, I have not tried this yet and I have actually forgotten your hints after having to read 8 pages but here I go.

You have red hair are of normal height and you have blue or green eyes.
Of course since you are a BDer most of your days you are found on the computer on Barrow Downs !!!!

The Only Real Estel 07-27-2004 09:47 AM

I'm going to posting on Quickslash here, even though he/she hasn't been around a whole lot.

Quickslash: For some reason I'm going to see female, even though Qs struck me at first as being male. Black/brown hair, 5'8 if female, 6'2 if male. Likes a few sports, but mostly likes going to movies, uses the internet a good bit, but doesn't post here a whole lot. Maybe does a little art, probably has brown eyes, I'm terrified that I'm way off ;) :D.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 07-27-2004 03:23 PM

Mithalwen, you just couldn't help yourself could you? You'll find that everyone's different, and that there's only one way for a lady to discover the truth. Dare you? :D

Estel, you're right! You were able to put a face on my image of rimbaud and you got it spot on.

Meneltarmacil 07-27-2004 06:53 PM

Quote:

Meneltarmacil: You said you like to play with chemicals so how do we know if your hair hasn't been "bleached" or "peroxided" blond. You may just be dying your hair blond to fool all the BD's. Just kidding. So anyway I am assuming you're female for the fact that I know if I did my Gollum impression in front of my guy friends they'd all laugh at me and think I was weird. Maybe about 5'5''. And maybe you're blond????? Oh well I'm probably wrong. I always am in this thread.
I don't know why both you and Estel thought I was female, but I tell you now that I am male. My hair has always been a natural blond, and I have never dyed it in my life. And I am not one to fool around with chemicals, that honor is reserved for my lab partner in chemistry class (it's a miracle he hasn't burned his house to the ground). One thing's for certain, your last comment was correct. ;)

The reason I did my Gollum impression in front of the entire camp was mostly because my cabin mates all know that I've always been good at doing weird impressions, as well as being "designated victim" for every weird game that people can come up with at these things.

EDIT: Ah, finally finished that painful resizing job to get my picture up as an avatar.

The Only Real Estel 07-27-2004 09:45 PM

Ah, Meneltarmacil, I see you got tired of being mistaken for being female & having a hair color other than blonde & just went ahead & posted your pic as an avatar. :D Not a bad idea, but I can't bring myself to take the fun out of being guessed by doing that :p

Quote:

Estel, you're right! You were able to put a face on my image of rimbaud and you got it spot on
Ah, I guess I didn't end up tweaking it that much after all. Great minds think alike...& so do ours! :p

Eomer of the Rohirrim 07-28-2004 08:20 AM

Indeed. I was thinking he looked like an extra from the Muppets Christmas Carol (a human extra, of course). Retro cloaks, the way to go!

edit to add: rimbaud is (for the benefit of Estel) male. I guess every other Downer knew that except us!

ninlaith 07-28-2004 03:47 PM

Sorry Meneltarmacil my mistake. I'm really bad at guessing what people look like. I'm just not good at this thread at all. :(

[QUOTE=Eomer of the Rohirrim]Mithalwen, you just couldn't help yourself could you? You'll find that everyone's different, and that there's only one way for a lady to discover the truth. Dare you?

Ah but then maybe she ceases to be a lady..... :p
Indeed I have a glib tongue that is liable to drop me in hot water.... so self awareness being a wonderful thing I will resist the temptation to say "I'm game if you are.." :D

Rimbaud 07-30-2004 09:14 AM

Feh

Not only that. but I'll have you know my hair is actually exceptionally stylish. Gah and indeed meh. And if you knock me down to just under half-a-foot, and have me green and somewhat amphibious you'd be closer to the mark.

Elennar Starfire 07-30-2004 09:35 AM

Will you turn into a prince if I kiss you?

Rimbaud 07-30-2004 09:40 AM

A common question...

...but sadly an uncommonly ambiguous reply! Funny how life turns out.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 07-30-2004 11:03 AM

It takes style to get someone that wrong. :p

Mithalwen, no comment. ;)

Elennar Starfire 07-30-2004 07:20 PM

I guess I won't know until I try it, eh? So...http://216.40.206.219/boardimages/kiss.gif

Lhunardawen 07-30-2004 08:55 PM

Rimbaud? Are you still there?

Guess he did not turn into a frog. I didn't hear *croak**croak* for an answer. :D

Seems to me that more and more Downers are using their pic as their avatars... what a waste for this thread...I guess.

Oh.

Someone described me during my absence in this thread. Wow.

Quote:

Nilpaurion Felagund: You are around 6 feet, with long light hair. You've got grey eyes, and when you're not on the computer or reading, you're staring longingly out at the ocean horizon.(Saraphim)
A few thousand years ago, yes, that was me. The valiant Prince of Tirion, a spitting image of Finrod the Faithful. But a few body swaps later, the only thing on the mark is the long hair.
At least, it's long for me. I haven't had it cut since...ummm...four-ish months ago.

Now,
Rimbaud is not really a frog but a salamander undergoing an identity crisis. He's hairless, green in colour, and perpetually covered in slime.
A kiss from a fairy princess turns him into a frog. Unfortunately, that turns the fairy princess into a newt.

The Only Real Estel is anything but the only real estel. He's one of those Aragorn look-alikes seen wandering your neighbourhood wild areas.

Don't say that! The one fun in this thread is actually getting wrong.
Like mistaking you, ninlalaith, for an 15 year-old redhead who gets into trouble at school for shouting the Ring Verse - in Black Speech - at inopportune times.
Of course, I might be right. That would scare me to three-fourths death.

Something like Sauron's discount rings, eh? :D

Elven Hunter 07-31-2004 07:55 AM

I think I saw Lhunardawen before.. Let's see, I think she has brown skin, she's very thin, wearing glasses, a bit longer than shoulder hair, and she was wearing a pony tail.

Nah just kidding, that was her friend. But the truth is, she looks like her avatar. She's nearly 5'5" tall with shoulder hair, always carrying LotR stuff and books. She wears glasses and talks in quenya and about LotR with her friends, who understands only a bit of what she's saying. :)

Elennar Starfire 07-31-2004 07:46 PM

I was indeed turned into a newt. But I got better.

An Aragorn look-alike/discount ring? Not to far off... ;)

p.s. and it's an unspoken rule that you can't use any pics you've seen on
the barrowdowns pic page to your advantage when guessing looks :p

Did you now... I had you pegged for the witch type, with a fake nose, but it could be because the masses wanted you to look that way. You don't perchance weigh the same as a duck, do you?

Fea

ninlaith 08-01-2004 08:19 AM

Well , Nilpaurion, we have something in common...our guesses are few and far between. You have one thing right though I do tend to shout lines and songs from LOTR at inopportune times. Only when everyone was quiet. But I'll give you a few hints I'm not a red-head and I'm older than 15 (not by a whole lot but older). ;)

Sirithheruwen 08-01-2004 06:59 PM

*sighs* My, I have been gone a long time, haven't I? And no one has done me in the process. Pity.

Actually, Rimbaud has mostly struck me as somewhat rat-ish. Sort of like Peter Pettigrew in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, except with Professor Lockheart (HP and the Chamber of Secrets) blonde wavy hair. Interesting combo, no?

Nope, the nose is all real! You can pull on it if you like, to prove it. But don't pull too hard!

I'm unsure if I weigh the same as a duck. It would depend on the size of the duck in question. A very large duck, perhaps.

Lathriel 08-01-2004 08:32 PM

Sirithheruwen I think you avatar might be close to what you look like.
Green eyes, auburn hair and a little poity nose. :D

I'm alos guessing that you are petite, and that you really wish you were a little taller.

If you like, we can use my largest scales to find out.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 08-02-2004 06:09 AM

Sirith is a complete bundle of energy with extremely long hair and wild eyes. She is rather petite, I would agree.

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-02-2004 10:13 AM

I always thought Sirith was a slender little redhead, with an above-average number of freckles, lightly smattered across her nose and cheeks. Bright green eyes. Hair is stick-straight, and falls just to the base of her shoulder blades. It's cut layered, a la Lindsey Lohan in Freaky Friday, only no extra colors.

Actually, my avvie isn't even remotely what I look like. I'm also not petite at all. I'm very very tall.

Quote:

Energy? Hoo yeah!
Extremely long hair? Actually, extremely short.
Wild eyes? Only when I'm emotional.
Petite? No.

I suppose I am slender, but only in the warmer months when I go out rollerblading three miles everyday. And, yes, I do have many freckles, all on my nose and cheeks. My eyes actually change color with what I'm wearing or, again, if I'm emotional. When my hair was long, it was straight, but now I style it so it has a little more volume. Easy. Can't believe I didn't do it before. And my hair used to be cut in long layers too. So, Fea, you got the last year me. :p

Meela 08-02-2004 03:49 PM

This is a bit dull, but I see a lot of you as looking like your name. This mostly applies to the ones with Lotr names, like Eomer of the Rohirrim, who therefore looks like Eomer dressed in a white t-shirt and ripped jeans, and The Only Real Estel, who dresses like a Ranger and likes hiking across moors in the mist.

Let's see.... Child of the 7th Age has short, blond curls and a cheerful smile and big blue/green eyes. Rather serious looking in a good-natured, responsible way.

Mister Underhill wears a hat (I don't know the name, but they wore them with suits in the 1930's). He doesn't wear the suit though.

Mad Baggins looks like his name: a Baggins. Short grey curls, glasses perched on the end of his nose, a slightly crazed look. And a waistcoat. Has the look of a cheerful and eccentric inventor.

Evisse the Blue: shoulder-length, dark brown curls. Wears blue gowns.

Witch-king: very tall.

Feanor of the Peredhil: the only word that comes to mind is pointy... pointy ears, I think. Sharp-witted, tall, slim, short dark and spiky hair. Very clever, wide grin and good sense of humour.

Sapphire_Flame: of medium height with flame-red, longish hair. Bright eyes, clear skin, rather a mystical look, like a spirit or an ancient goddess of war.

That's enough from me for now, I don't feel I know any of you well enough to describe you in detail. Otherwise my brain is so mooshy I just can't think of anyone clearly.

Sooo... there's my bit done. Who's gonna undertake the duty of describing my fair self? I want a minimum of five detailed descriptions, and all including the phrase "breathtakingly beautiful"...
