I don't think she knew Elendil or was closely related. Try someone a bit closer to her.

This is an answer I gave to Bruce MacCulloch regarding another question.

Notice the link : Erendis ->Elendil

This connection was correct according to Bruce. Also regarding the name Uinéniel:

Quote:

A title, meaning 'Daughter of Uinen' given by Aldarion to Erendis, in the days when he was seeking her hand in marriage.
What do you think? Was Bruce MacCulloch wrong?

Yes.
I seem to have developed a nasty habit of looking at one post and mistaking it for another. If you look at the post immediately preceding the one in which I confirmed your answer, you will see the hitherto unacknowledged correct answer.

Pallando B.C 02-14-2003 04:09 PM

Ohhh ok. So I wasn't right on that one before. That's fine and no harm done.

Lindolirian 02-20-2003 04:33 PM

You were getting pretty close, Pallando. Have at it again!

Pallando B.C 02-20-2003 07:21 PM

Usually I wouldn't want to go, since I didn't get the answer, but this thread is probably the best on the Quiz Room and it needs to be continued.

Gamil Zirak -> Belladonna Took

In one seperation, you need to think a differently.

Lindolirian 02-20-2003 07:31 PM

In one separation? You mean only one person in between? Wow. Lemme think...

Are you sure this can be done in only one separation? Or am I not understanding you correctly?

Pallando B.C 02-20-2003 09:30 PM

No, I think you mis-understand me. It wasn't really explained well so I'm sorry.

Here is what I mean:

Gamil Zirak -> ? -> ? -> *** -> ? -> Belladonna Took.

*** = This is the example I was talking of. This seperation is where you have to think outside the box and come up with a different kind of answer.

It is impossible to get this question with only one seperation.

Sorry for the confusion.

the real findorfin 02-21-2003 08:23 AM

Gamil Zirak - Thingol - Galadriel - Glorfindel - Bilbo Baggins - Belladona Took

Gamil Zirak made many treasures for the store houses of Thingol.

I am assuming Glorfindel met Galadriel sometime in there long history (either in Aman, or after his re-encarnation.)

If not then I can slip in Turgon in between and do it in 7.

Pallando B.C 02-22-2003 04:45 AM

If no-one minds I would prefer this answer to include the instructions I put forth.

The answer also involves no assumtions.

Lindolirian 02-22-2003 11:44 AM

Gamil Zirak-> Thingol-> Melian-> Olorin-> Belladonna Took

Pallando B.C 02-22-2003 05:41 PM

That's It, but..... try and get it through something that is inanimate.

Lindolirian 02-23-2003 11:10 AM

Gamil Zirak-> Angrist*-> Morgoth-> Manwë-> Olorin-> Belladonna Took.

* the knife that his apprentice made that cut the Silmaril from the Iron Crown.

Now we could take out Manwë because both Olorin and Morgoth are Ainu, and put in Telchar between Gamil and Angrist, but I think you get the gist o' things.

Pallando B.C 02-23-2003 04:21 PM

I'll take that. It could have also been:

Gamil Zirak ->Telchar ->Narsil ->Bilbo ->Belladonna Took.

Lindolirian 02-23-2003 05:09 PM

Oh thats right! Telchar did make Narsil. Lemme see, I think Aragorn said that at the gates of Meduseld. Ok then...

Bombur-> Mahtan

Pallando B.C 02-23-2003 09:59 PM

Bombur ->Olorin -> Aulë -> Mahtan

We don't like Gandalf links though do we. So....

Bombur ->Gloin -> Frodo ->Galadriel -> ** Mahtan

** Not sure of their meeting. Only clue is that their both Noldor. If they didn't meet, put Fëanor in their for me!

Lindolirian 02-24-2003 08:24 AM

That last one was correct with Fëanor in it. Go ahead!

Pallando B.C 02-25-2003 02:04 AM

Lothíriel -> Lúthien

Try NOT to use Galadriel.

Lindolirian 02-25-2003 03:09 PM

Lothiriel-> Eomer-> Saruman-> Mandos-> Luthien

Pallando B.C 02-25-2003 04:09 PM

Great Work!

Lindolirian 02-26-2003 03:50 PM

Erellont-> Gamling

Pallando B.C 02-27-2003 04:52 AM

Erellont ->Eärendil ->Círdan ->Galadriel ->Aragorn ->Gamling

Lindolirian 02-27-2003 09:40 AM

Elrond would have been quicker, but yes, your's works as well.

Pallando B.C 02-27-2003 04:32 PM

Labadal ->Aerandir

Lindolirian 02-27-2003 05:53 PM

Labadal-> Turin-> Gelmir and/or Arminas-> Cirdan-> Earendil-> Aerandir

Pallando B.C 02-27-2003 06:57 PM

Yes, but you could cut one from there by using a connection with realtives.

Lindolirian 02-27-2003 07:59 PM

Right
Labadal-> Túrin-> Tuor-> Earendil-> Aerandir

Pallando B.C 02-27-2003 09:05 PM

Exactly what I had.

Lindolirian 03-01-2003 05:03 PM

Vàna-> Elfstan Fairbairn

Pallando B.C 03-01-2003 06:27 PM

Without a Gandalf link I presume.

Vána ->Eärendil ->Elrond ->Samwise ->Elfstan Fairbairn

Lindolirian 03-02-2003 12:13 PM

Did Eärendil meet Vàna?
Remember, in your own words:
Quote:

The answer also involves no assumtions.

Pallando B.C 03-02-2003 06:28 PM

I am basing that on when Eärendil was before the Valar pleading for the pardon of the Noldor.

Lindolirian 03-02-2003 06:29 PM

Ok then, I'll let ya have it.

Pallando B.C 03-02-2003 10:49 PM

I've always considered that a legit answer.

Telchar ->Nob

Must pass through a minimum of two inanimate objects.

the real findorfin 03-03-2003 09:05 AM

Telchar - Angrist - Morgoth - Sauron - Narsil - Aragorn - Nob

Thats seven, and all that i can do, unless Anduril and Narsil can be counted as two different objects.

Telchar - Narsil - Elrond - Anduril - Aragorn - Nob

But that seems wrong somehow

Pallando B.C 03-03-2003 04:17 PM

No, sorry there is a way you can do this without counting Narsil and Andúril as two seperate objects.

Both objects don't have to hade by Telchar.

the real findorfin 03-04-2003 12:41 PM

Telchar - Narsil - Aragorn - Palantir - Pippin - Nob

YESSS! That works!

Pallando B.C 03-04-2003 09:27 PM

Well Done
