care for a drink?

Gin in a bag, lads.

NightKnight 06-28-2004 05:05 PM

Linda Baggins? If so, then you put an "a" too much. :p

Mariska Greenleaf 06-29-2004 01:16 AM

Oh god, and I did double check it, really...
Anyway, you are right, that was what I was looking for...

NightKnight 06-29-2004 05:25 AM

It's ok, I miss letters all the time too. :p

Our dear Mod has some slaves, and they're

Scourin' 'Pan Man's feet

The Squatter of Amon Rûdh 06-29-2004 06:22 AM

It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it

I wonder if they tackle the tougher spots with the Sceptre of Annúminas

NightKnight 06-30-2004 04:53 AM

They might do...

And please present a new masterpiece for us. :)

The Squatter of Amon Rûdh 06-30-2004 05:25 AM

A suspicious accident

Worse things happen at sea, but in the docks:

Navy 'lost' ale, wine

NightKnight 06-30-2004 11:52 AM

Maybe they lost it in the Stonewain Valley?

Getting the feeling that I'm right, and since I'm going away, I give you my next puzzle here:

The small thug in the gang did something nice.

Yo, Flea! Cewl!

Mariska Greenleaf 07-09-2004 07:34 AM

The anwer would be Yellow Face , that's how the sun was called by Gollum.

NightKnight 07-14-2004 06:56 AM

Yesss, the nasssty sssun. We hatesss it, preciousss!

Rimbaud 07-15-2004 08:43 AM

New riddle needed!

Mariska Greenleaf 07-15-2004 09:41 AM

Do we need anything else to go camping?

O, more tents!

Rimbaud 07-15-2004 09:55 AM

Ettenmoors...

...would be it, I imagine.

Mariska Greenleaf 07-19-2004 01:30 AM

It is indeed! You're up! ;)

Rimbaud 07-19-2004 03:39 AM

Hokey-doke

An easier one, I fear. The friend who gives to you a present that comes back to haunt you might have committed a:

Viler Lend

Mariska Greenleaf 07-19-2004 03:47 AM

Dear Rimbaud,

Apparently you're not aware of the fact that the new word has to start with the last letter of the former one, in this case being "s" (Ettenmoors .
And as there is no "s" in the new word you posted, I think you better make up a new one... ;)

Rimbaud 07-21-2004 09:25 AM

Genuine irony for once then

The irony being that I started this thread and set that rule (admittedly some time ago). :) Had to think of one on the fly in the office and just clean forgot, I'm afraid. After all those times tsk-ing at others. *shakes head* Still, how about this.

Discovering his lunchtime sandwhich was just too large and overpriced for him,

Odd Ray ran back sub!

Mariska Greenleaf 07-22-2004 12:38 AM

Is it Saradoc Brandybuck?

Rimbaud 07-22-2004 02:14 AM

Aye.

That it be, lassie.

Mariska Greenleaf 07-25-2004 12:26 PM

Ok, new one then...

I, Koda, the ring fan.

Rimbaud 07-27-2004 02:56 AM

King of Arthedain, my dear Ms. Greenleaf?

Mariska Greenleaf 07-27-2004 03:25 AM

That would be the correct answer, Mister Perilous Poet!

Rimbaud 07-27-2004 04:26 AM

In that case...

how about this? When mending the Great West Road, engineers discovered a defect in the build. This led one to cry:

Oh, mend slant for run-on!

Mariska Greenleaf 07-27-2004 01:04 PM

And than you find: Northlands of Numenor.

Rimbaud 07-28-2004 03:44 AM

Quite right, of course.

Mariska Greenleaf 07-28-2004 09:18 AM

Well, there you have it! ;)

The Perky Ent 07-28-2004 09:56 AM

I'm new to this, so go easy on me, but, Rethe?

Mariska Greenleaf 07-28-2004 11:57 AM

Welcome to the game, Perky Ent.
Take it away!

Just a little reminder: the new word has to start with the last letter of the previous word.

The Perky Ent 07-28-2004 01:34 PM

Ok. I think I get it. Man, this is hard. But I think I've got one! Nain etching out M Yeah, that works. Alright! Have at it!

The Perky Ent 08-06-2004 11:22 AM

Good ole Nain. If anyone could etch an M, it's Nain

Nilpaurion Felagund 08-12-2004 12:06 AM

Echoing Mountain?

Maybe I'm wrong, because it contains an extra "o", and has only one "t", but what the Angband.

Rimbaud 08-17-2004 09:58 AM

To shake this thread awake, Perky Ent, could you answer the question? It has me stumped also.

The Perky Ent 08-17-2004 10:02 AM

If I remember, it was the Echoing Mountains, though I think there's one or two errors. Oh well, it stumped ;) Someone else can go!

Rimbaud 08-18-2004 05:34 AM

I think it should be Nilpaurion, as he had it correct. Shoot, Nil.

The Perky Ent 08-18-2004 07:09 AM

Oh! Didn't see that there. Your Go NP!

Nilpaurion Felagund 08-23-2004 12:07 AM

Sorry for the delay . . .

. . . for on the way to this thread, I saw the queerest flower I've ever seen. As I stooped down to smell it, it cried "No!" So I asked (in very crude Eldarin):

Manen, loth? (Why, flower?)

Post-mortem: This is assuming N is the last letter of the previous puzzle . . . :smokin:

piosenniel 08-23-2004 12:13 AM

On the southern banks of the River Celon lay the old wood of:

Nan Elmoth

Nilpaurion Felagund 08-23-2004 12:17 AM

*gasp!*

How did you know I was there?!

*slap slap slap*

Oh. The thread is thine. :)

piosenniel 08-23-2004 12:36 AM

A surfeit of seafood comes down to this:

LOL! Fish Pies!

Nilpaurion Felagund 08-23-2004 01:01 AM

I suppose they have much to eat at the Hill of Spies. ;)
