Very well

Who to whom
"Ai na vedui Dunadan! Mea govannen!"

No you have the right to ask after all. I shall answer you, but first I was wondering how is it that you think 23 is old?

I'm 15, and feel rather young among all of you deep Lotr scholars.

Re: Old Took

I used to consider myself old here until I found that many of our members are my age a few actually first saw the Sun ere I. Still, us 'seasoned citizens' (to steal a phrase from Rush Limbaugh) of Middle-Earth can hold our own against these youngster still in their teens and tweens.

Re: Threens?

That's because I just made it up. With a little (very little) deduction you should be able to decipher its meaning.

Re: FotR Quotes

Hmmm... I figured it out! Based on your length of Service which you revealed in another post. I'm not sure if you want it known, so I will not reveal my answer. I must say that I have been feeling old here with all the students on the page talking of finals and papers due and such. And I'm only just approaching (all too rapidly) my 'threens'.

FotR Quotes

Sorry for the delay. Life intrudes. Here's a new one to put the thread back on track:
Quote:
I pity snails, and all that carry their homes on their backs.

Who said it, and what were they talking about?

That would be Gwaihir to Gandalf during the rescue from Orthanc.

HerenIstarion 02-14-2001 11:41 AM

No, cause I need one who spoke the words, not one whom he was quoting :p

Re: FotR Quotes

"How absolute the knave is! We must speak by the card, or
equivocation will undo us. " That's not a new quote, although you get extra credit iof you identify it (non-Tolkien).

OK, then, it was Gandalf, reporting to the council his rescue from Orthanc.

HerenIstarion 02-14-2001 12:00 PM

Er, than I would not have added 'said he' part, now is correct

Btw what knaves-s-s, my precious-s-s, what knaves-s-s?

Only 'Alice in Wonderland' pops up to mind, though the quote given sounds too serious for Lewis Carrol

Hamlet to Horatio, aabout the gravedigger. Of course you are correct about the quote,

OK who said: "We wish for no strangers in the land at this time, unless they be mighty men of arms in whose faith and help we can trust."
