Double scrambled quotes.

I noticed two threads here in Quotable Quotes and I have decided to join them together to make one thread. Thoses two thread were Unscramble the quotes and Sort out the letters!!. :D

So this is how it works. The question asker picks a quote from the LotR, such as

Quote:

One ring to rule them all.
and scrambles the letters in each individual word plus scrambles the words themselves, to make:

Quote:

temh ot uerl lal nOe igrn
You don't have to keep the capital, I just did that to show you how it works. :p

You also need to say who said it. So here is the first question:

Quote:

si lal litgrte edos lodg htta otn.
Who said it?

Enjoy! ;)

Glirdan 09-01-2005 08:41 AM

I got it!

Quote:

All that is gold does not glitter
That was Gandalf in the letter to Frodo, but Bilbo was the one who made the words up.

wilwarin538 09-01-2005 08:45 AM

I thought I'd start with an easy one. Good job! :D

You may continue. ;)

Glirdan 09-01-2005 09:00 AM

Thanks

Well here goes:

Quote:

niwd o dawnnigre, ofrm wens het tawh sewt, ot irgnb em ightnto od ouy

I think this one is a little more challenging. Good luck! :D

Kath 09-01-2005 11:42 AM

Quote:

"What news from the West, O wandering wind, do you bring to me tonight?"
Which is Aragorn in his lament for Boromir methinks.

Glirdan 09-01-2005 01:14 PM

You are...

...correct my good lady! :D Your thread.

*mutters to self* and I thought it was challenging.

Kath 09-01-2005 03:48 PM

Honestly Glirdan your edit means I can't do my Eowyn quote!

Ah well another time perhaps, next:

Quote:

"si ddielr aehv ewll aegnrsstt eehr ew eht dfnou ahtt ety"

Glirdan 09-01-2005 04:11 PM

Well then take comfort Kath for you have stumped me with "aegrsstt"! I am stuck! I have found out the other words, but without that one word I can't seem to find anything that makes sense. Good one! :D

Kath 09-01-2005 04:49 PM

I do apologise, the reason you can't get it is because I missed out a letter. That word should be:

Quote:

aegnrsstt
Hope that helps!

Glirdan 09-02-2005 01:42 PM

Darn you Kath! It's still got me stumped! I'd try and guess, but I can't for the life of me (or should I say death of me?) figure out what it is! There are numerous possiblitlites. But I shall not give up!!

Mango of Doom 09-03-2005 01:02 PM

"Well here is the strangest riddle we have yet found!" Legolas in The White Rider

Kath 09-04-2005 07:06 AM

Correct Mango of Doom! Your go.

Mango of Doom 09-04-2005 11:05 AM

Hinkt ams uoy thaw of leevs onw do?

Glirdan 09-04-2005 11:09 AM

Quote:

" What do you think of Elves now Sam?"
I believe that was Frodo to Sam when they met the Elves on their wasy to Crickhollow.

Mango of Doom 09-04-2005 11:56 AM

Correct :)

Glirdan 09-04-2005 12:04 PM

Cool

This one might be a little trickyer:

Quote:

eht aelon doost bdegir nopu eh adhosw ddeefi efir bhot adn adn
Good luck! ;)

Kath 09-04-2005 12:44 PM

"He stood alone upon the bridge and defied both shadow and fire."

About Gandalf but I don't know who said it unless maybe Aragorn.

Glirdan 09-04-2005 12:46 PM

Right quote, wrong person. It was Frodo singing a song about Gandalf in Lothlorien. But I'll give it to you anyway.

Kath 09-04-2005 12:56 PM

Thanks!

Quote:

"Your finger would remember their old strength better, if they grasped a sword-hilt"
That was Gandalf to Théoden at Edoras when Gandalf "awoke" Théoden from the darkness of the poison of Grima.

Kath 09-04-2005 01:06 PM

But of course! Your thread.

Glirdan 09-04-2005 01:16 PM

Cheers

Thank you my lady.

There you go. Have fun.

wilwarin538 09-04-2005 01:31 PM

Quote:

You try to choke poor Smeagol. Dust and ashes, he can't eat that. He must starve.
Said by Gollum to Frodo.

Kath 09-04-2005 01:32 PM

"You try to choke poor Smeagol. Dust and ashes, he can't eat that. He must starve."

Poor old Smeagol to Sam and Frodo.

EDIT: Beat me to it Wilwa!

Glirdan 09-04-2005 01:49 PM

Well, you both are right. But since Wilwa beat you to it Kath, it's her thread. But at least you get the satisfaction of knowing that you were right! :D So take it away Wilwa.

wilwarin538 09-04-2005 01:59 PM

Thankee!

Quote:

Good luck!

Mango of Doom 09-04-2005 02:22 PM

"But it makes the the darkness seem heavier, thinking of all those lamps!" Sam, in a journey in the dark

wilwarin538 09-04-2005 02:23 PM

But of course. :smokin:

Mango of Doom 09-04-2005 02:31 PM

Oeorgfntt i ttouhhg ouy dah all taobu me

Kath 09-04-2005 03:13 PM

"I thought you had all forgotten about me."

Which I think is Merry to Pippin but I will admit to not having looked.

Mango of Doom 09-05-2005 02:28 AM

Almost the correct quote, almost correct character :P

wilwarin538 09-05-2005 06:30 AM

Maybe: "I though you all had forgotten about me"

Pippin to Merry. :p

Mango of Doom 09-05-2005 08:54 AM

Again, neither are quite right :p

Kath 09-05-2005 09:02 AM

"I thought you had forgotten all about me."

And I'll say Merry to Gandalf then.

Mango of Doom 09-05-2005 09:20 AM

So close! Correct quote, wrong person.

Kath 09-05-2005 09:21 AM

Ah! Ah it's Frodo! Is it Frodo? To Sam?

Mango of Doom 09-05-2005 09:26 AM

Its Pippin to Gandalf, but you can have it :)

Kath 09-05-2005 09:31 AM

Thank you! I thought maybe if I acted slightly crazy you'd give it me to shut me up :p

Next:

Mango of Doom 09-05-2005 09:35 AM

Quote:

This deed I shall ever rue
or those words in some order :p

I seem to think this is Beregond, but I'm not sure :)

Kath 09-05-2005 09:38 AM

You are correct, and it was to people in general I believe. Your thread.
