Gamling's Book of Middle Earth Records

This is where the greatest, the least, and the middlest are kept. I can't explain it, so an example must do.

Example

Q: What is the brightest of stars?
A: Earendil.

So here's my question(an easy one):

Who achieved the loudest voice by a mortal man?

Nilpaurion Felagund 11-16-2003 04:26 AM

Telchar, maybe you mean the "Golden Perch"...

Arestevana 11-16-2003 04:20 PM

The answer was the Golden Perch. So Telchar, you may continue. (unless you really did mean peach )

Telchar 11-27-2003 10:08 AM

I will at least claim to the day of my death that IT WAS A TYPO!!!!!!

Q: Who were the wisest of the Maiar?

The Laurenendorian 11-27-2003 10:24 AM

Telchar 11-27-2003 10:53 AM

The Laurenendorian 11-27-2003 01:32 PM

Who has the longest hair?

Telchar 11-27-2003 05:08 PM

I would say Luthien, when she let her hair grow, to escape from Hirilorn ?

The Laurenendorian 11-27-2003 05:18 PM

Not so, but not entirely unconnected to the answer.

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-02-2003 02:14 AM

That's OK, Telchar.

Anyway, is the answer Indravangs/Indrafangs/Longbeards?

The Laurenendorian 12-02-2003 06:50 PM

No.

Telchar's guess was rather close, in a way.

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-02-2003 10:34 PM

Uinen the lady of the Sea!

The Laurenendorian 12-03-2003 05:45 AM

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-04-2003 12:40 AM

Thank you! *bows*

Telchar 12-04-2003 07:29 AM

What was the name of the tallest of the towers West of the Shire...

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-04-2003 07:56 PM

The Perky Ent 12-07-2003 02:59 PM

Anyone? I'm asking for only four...

Evisse the Blue 12-15-2003 02:38 AM

Grey Moutains, Misty Mountains, White Mountains, Mountains of Shadow.
Correct?

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-16-2003 02:17 AM

*scratches head at why his earlier confirmation post disappeared*

You're right, and in the order I thought it would be.

Evisse the Blue 12-16-2003 03:08 AM

Whose was the longest-enduring pain?

Gil-numen 12-21-2003 05:53 PM

Maedhros?

----------------------

"Show it to me"
Thingol to Beren

Evisse the Blue 12-22-2003 06:53 AM

Nope, not him.

Elrond of Rivendell 12-22-2003 03:10 PM

Hurin ... although I don't remember whether he was really held captive THAT long by Morgoth?

Telchar 12-22-2003 07:38 PM

What about Morgoth?

Quote:

In token of this he set the Silmarils in his crown. His hands were burned black by the touch of those hallowed jewels, and black they remained ever after; nor was he ever free from the pain of the burning, and the anger of the pain.

NightKnight 12-23-2003 04:58 AM

Either Thingol or Elrond, after the losses of their daughters?

Evisse the Blue 12-23-2003 07:55 AM

Telchar has it, Morgoth is the answer. After all, never is a very long time...

Telchar 12-23-2003 05:40 PM

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-24-2003 05:33 AM

The one that never gets started?

Telchar 12-24-2003 05:37 AM

That is at least the correct answer according to the Gaffer Please continue

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-27-2003 05:07 AM

Thank you, Telchar! *bows*
