Númenórean Trivia

This is just for questions about the Númenóreans. Please post questions and answers in Bold
Who was the brother of Parmaitë?

Gil-Galad 01-05-2004 05:23 PM

Men of Numenor
is the thread which is exactly liek this one! now for sauceman to do his job!... sauceman? hello? here i goe to fidn him again...

The Saucepan Man 01-05-2004 06:40 PM

sauceman? hello?
Much as it may surprise you, Gil, I do not lurk on-line every hour of the day.

Actually, the other thread is for questions on the people of Numenor, whereas this looks to be a trivia game about Numenor generally. Although this one will inevitably involve questions about the people of Numenor, there is nevertheless a difference. Since it is not a duplicate, therefore, I will leave this thread open.

So, nobody's question stands (if you take my meaning ).

Lord of Angmar 01-05-2004 06:52 PM

Earendur?

nobody 01-06-2004 04:37 AM

Yes. You can ask questions about Númenórean women here and questions about Númenórë itself here, like its geography, the places in it and other names for it etc.

Gwaihir the Windlord 01-07-2004 02:08 AM

Sorry to put myself at risk of sounding a smartarse, but what about questions on Numenorian men?

Silmarien 02-01-2004 08:03 PM

May I ask a question since Lord of Angmar hasn't .
What was given to Erendis as a betrothal gift?

Thorongil 02-02-2004 06:47 AM

A diamond?

Silmarien 02-03-2004 04:56 PM

Sorry no that was given to her before they became betrothed.

Iaurhirwen 02-03-2004 07:37 PM

As a betrothal gift, Erendis was givin a portion of land in Emerie, where was built for her a white house.

Silmarien 02-04-2004 04:27 AM

Well done Iaurhirwen! The thread is yours.

Iaurhirwen 02-04-2004 10:30 PM

Oh, WoW! The first time I ever answer a question on the Downs and I get it right
*Starts hyperventalating*

Anyhoo . . . . .
During what year did Sauron move and erect a stronghold in the land now known as Mordor to counteract the Númenórean landings at Harad?

Finwe 02-04-2004 10:57 PM

The year 1000 of the Second Age?

Iaurhirwen 02-04-2004 10:59 PM

Yep

You're up

The Perky Ent 02-16-2004 08:32 PM

Hate to be a negative ned, or in this case a negative ent, but...10 DAY RULE!!!! New question: How many Numenorian KINGS started their name with TAR?

Iaurhirwen 02-16-2004 10:23 PM

I think I got them all: 15

The Perky Ent 02-17-2004 04:28 PM

Um...i don't think so. Doulbe check. If you can prove me wrong, it's your go. Otherwise, someone please give the correct answer!

Iaurhirwen 02-17-2004 09:46 PM

1. Tar-Amandil
2. Tar-Elendil
3. Tar-Meneldur
4. Tar-Aldarion
5. Tar-Anárion
6. Tar-Súrton
7. Tar-Minastir
8. Tar-Ciryatan
9. Tar-Antanimar the Great
10. Tar-Ancalimon
11. Tar-Telemmaitë
12. Tar-Alcarin
13. Tar-Calmacil
14. Tar-Palantir – who changed his name from Ar-Inziladûn

I wasn’t sure if you were including Elros Tar-Minyatur in that group. If so, 15, if not 14. If I still didn’t get it, hint please as to what I’m missing.
:smokin:

Arvedui III 02-24-2004 06:27 PM

*Bump*

I think Iaurhirwen has it.

Iaurhirwen 02-24-2004 06:35 PM

Ok, I'm back:)

Now for a question . . . . . . .

What was the name of the Númenorean king who first sent aid to Gil-Galad and what was his number in secession (i.e. 1st king, 2nd king)

luthien-elvenprincess 02-24-2004 09:35 PM

Was it Tar-Minastir, 11th King of Numenor?

Iaurhirwen 02-24-2004 09:44 PM

Correct. Your turn.

luthien-elvenprincess 02-25-2004 05:55 PM

Rangers of the North wore what on their left shoulder? Full description, please.

Gil-Galad 02-25-2004 10:40 PM

sorry i beleive yoru question is un-orthodox, Numenorean, even though rangers wre numenore, they weren't called that, so plz stick with numenore

The Saucepan Man 02-26-2004 08:25 AM

I think that this thread can afford to be a little flexible, so let's go ahead with this question.

Please try to keep the questions more directly related to Númenor in the future, though.

luthien-elvenprincess 02-26-2004 07:09 PM

Sorry all. Thanks for the leniency, Saucepan Man.:)

Arvedui III 02-28-2004 07:49 PM

Soo...I'm assuming we can answer this one.

The Dunedain wore silver, five-pointed stars on their left shoulders if I remember aright.

Nirvana II 02-28-2004 08:18 PM

uhhh.....i thought it was the symbol of Arnor...which i cannot remember

luthien-elvenprincess 02-29-2004 08:52 AM

You got it, Arvedui. A silver star shaped like a rayed star.

Note: next time it is my turn...I will extend an enormous effort to stay within guidelines of the thread!:D

Arvedui III 03-03-2004 06:46 PM

Thanks. Ok, sticking with Numenor now...

Which Numenorian King first spoke out against the ban of the Valar?

Iaurhirwen 03-03-2004 06:50 PM

That would be Tar-Atanamir

Arvedui III 03-13-2004 09:45 AM

Corect.

Iaurhirwen 03-13-2004 11:39 AM

I'm sick and to tired to look for a hard one so:

What was Elros's high-elven name?

Miriel 03-13-2004 11:53 AM

Hope you feel better soon...

And, his king-name was Tar-Minyatur. Or maybe you're looking for Elerossë, his name in Quenya?

Gil-Galad 03-13-2004 11:53 AM

Tar-Minatar(sp?) is his numernorean name... isn't elros his high-elven name though?

Iaurhirwen 03-13-2004 11:56 AM

Miriel has it.

Miriel 03-13-2004 12:11 PM

Well, I can't think of anything, so I'll give you a nice easy one. ;)

Who called Ancalimë 'great eyes'?

Silmarien 03-16-2004 03:10 AM

Would that be Hallacar?

Miriel 03-16-2004 11:11 AM

Nope.

symestreem 03-22-2004 07:17 PM

Is it Aldarion?
